Different ways of stacking and the optical properties of single layers and double-layered stacked films are discussed. The optical characterization has been done by analysing the transmittance (T) and reflectance (R) spectra in the spectral region 200-2000 nm. By stacking the thermally evaporated films on composite films, the band gap is found to be between the bandgap of thermally evaporated film and composite film. The refractive index has also increased with respect to the composite film. The change in band gap has lead to the change in optical parameters like dielectric constants, extinction coefficient, nonlinear properties etc. Studies show that the prepared variable wavelength stacked composite based chalcogenide films are found to be a promising candidate for IR filters used in portable miniaturized IR spectrometers, disposable chemical biological sensors etc.","PeriodicalId":142915,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Optical Engineering (ICOE)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125536940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These devices provide excellent performance for high-speed operations, but their performance is eventually affected by the manufacturing parameter variations considerably. In this paper, an effort has been made to study the effects on theperformance of InP/InGaAsP Avalanche Photodiode due to the variations in the manufacturing parameters. A comparative study of Avalanche Photodiodes with manufacturing parameter variations such as thickness of various layers of photodiode like multiplication layer, absorption layer and carrier layer has been designed, simulated and tested. The results involve verification of device characteristics like breakdown characteristics, gain, spectral response and Quantum efficiency on each of the devices designed. Also, the significance of Anti-reflection coating has been shown in the study.","PeriodicalId":142915,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Optical Engineering (ICOE)","volume":"208 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116017556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

FSO systems provide virtually unlimited bandwidth. Since the laser beams used in these systems are spatially confined, the links are very secure. However FSO links perform well only in clear weather conditions. Clouds, fog, aerosols, and turbulence drastically affect the performance of FSO systems and lead to fluctuations in both the intensity and phase of the received signal. FSO links can suffer from data packet corruption and erasure. Various statistical models have been proposed to describe the atmospheric turbulence channels. The choice of the appropriate model for varying level of turbulence is dependent on the atmospheric parameters. In this paper we classify the channels using Radial Basis Function Neural Networks to decide the best fit. We also use Kullback-Leibler distance as a measure between the reference distribution and the distribution of observed data.","PeriodicalId":142915,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Optical Engineering (ICOE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114597231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our paper, we have designed an efficient alternate RWA protocol (EARP) which considers both congestion and route distance so as to improve the network performance. On arrival of a request the source node sends control signals through all the paths to the destination node. In this process, the number of free continuous wavelengths and conflict information are collected at the destination. Then, the lightpaths are computed based on this information and the precomputed distance information. A subset of wavelengths in the optimal lightpath is considered at the destination node for the reservation on the basis of conflict information. Backup lightpath is used for survivability. The selection of backup lightpath is done in such a way that there is no shared link between the primary and backup lightpath but it can be shared with another backup lightpath. By simulation results, we showed that our proposed protocol has lower blocking probability than the existing.","PeriodicalId":142915,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Optical Engineering (ICOE)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121498182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The regeneration process includes the formation of barrier-free complex of the oxidized dye with both I- and I2-, and the dissociation of I2- and I3- from the reduced dye. In addition to this, simulations of the electrolyte electrode interface are also presented which suggests the role of solvent in lowering the recombination process through redox mediator, thereby favoring swift dye regeneration. The results are validated using FTIR-ATR (Fourier Transform Infra Red- Attenuated Total Reflection) spectra.","PeriodicalId":142915,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Optical Engineering (ICOE)","volume":"47 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126233598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is achieved by the use of Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor (FBG) sensor instrumentation in vehicle parking management system. Present work involves embedding an array of FBG sensors underground in the parking space, then determining the strain changes on the FBG sensor due to load applied by the vehicle parked in the parking space, occupancy of the parking space is determined. To validate the FBG sensor parking management system, three most common cases have been considered. This closed loop FBG parking management system can give real-time feed-back to space-guidance display board helping the driver in maneuvering the vehicle to the appropriate parking space. The proposed technique offers optimized usage of parking space for the various segments of cars and also facilitates in a conjoined automated billing system, as compared to conventional method of parking systems.","PeriodicalId":142915,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Optical Engineering (ICOE)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133684841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In performance of ROADMs, routing power `R' which is a figure of merit has been used. The wavelength routing performance of ROADMs has been improved by inclusion of dynamic traffic under different traffic models like Bernoulli and Pascal models which depends on traffic peakedness “Z”. The proposed model is valid for all existing ROADM architectures involved in practical networks and acts as a useful tool for cost-effective network designs. The routing performance is analyzed under different operating conditions of the system like traffic peakedness (Z), number of switches and wavelengths at different stages of the system.","PeriodicalId":142915,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Optical Engineering (ICOE)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126592543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EIT has already been investigated both theoretically and experimentally by using three-level system in lambda (Λ), vee (V), and cascade (Ξ) configurations. However there is asymmetry in absorption measurement. To understand this asymmetry we introduce hyperfine levels in EIT cascade system. We present a five-level atomic system, which is a simple case of 87Rb. This study has been extended to investigate the polarization dependence of probe and control lasers on EIT. It has been observed that there is significant change in transparency window for different laser polarizations.","PeriodicalId":142915,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Optical Engineering (ICOE)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116647364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of our research is to know the influence of silver nanoparticles on our chosen ADS740WS fluorescent dye. The attachment of AgNP's with ADS740WS possesses quenching in optical absorption and fluorescence. Photo physical investigations reveal strongly that quenching is due to size, shape and coupling between nanoparticles with adsorbed dye. It is also due to the energy transfer between silver nanoparticles to the dye. Quenching in fluorescence using AgNP's with ADS740WS leads to advancement in printing, painting, lithographic industries and biomolecular labeling.","PeriodicalId":142915,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Optical Engineering (ICOE)","volume":"387 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122074035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
