The study adopted a survey research design method using the descriptive approach. Purposive sampling technique was used in selecting the sample size used for the study. The study covered all 100 level part-time students offering „Use of Library‟. The data for the study was collected with a structured questionnaire designed by the researchers. 323 copies of the questionnaire were administered out of which 240 (74.7%) were retrieved and certified to be valid for the analysis. Frequency counts and percentages were carried out using SPSS. The findings from the study revealed among others that, CBT is being preferred to the conventional paper-based method of assessment by part-time students. That a significant percentage of the respondents performed fairly good in the „Use of Library‟ CBT examination. Respondents relatively were familiar with computer systems. While constant electricity supply was identified as critical to enhancing CBT Examinations, students‟ poor ICT skill, lack of ICT literate invigilators and inadequate examination time were identified as the major problems facing the conduct of „Use of Library‟ CBT Examination. The paper recommends the need for part-time directorate to create more awareness on CBT in order to enhance acceptance of CBT examination among part-time students.","PeriodicalId":142897,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCES","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133625429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The protection and enforcement of this right constitutes one of the most basic principles. Today there is still inequality, among other things, in the provision of education. The creation of libraries in prisons is based on the right of prisoners to be educate, to experience, albeit incarcerated, a dignified life and to be treated with dignity during their imprisonment. Reading therefore, not only has an entertaining role, but a deeply educational and social one. \"Equal opportunities\" presuppose the provision of the same opportunities regardless of the social group, gender or class to which one belongs. The right to education is fundamental and guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN, 1948) and can be enjoyed by all citizens, including those incarcerated in prisons (Krolak, 2019). All people should enjoy the right to be educated regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, their abilities and characteristics. The protection and enforcement of this right constitutes one of the most basic principles of the 2030 Education Action Plan and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). 4. This obliges Member States to “ensure open and equal quality education. and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all ”(Krolak, 2019). Today there is still inequality, among other things, in the provision of education, on the one hand because not everyone has access to education and on the other hand, because neither the content nor the quality of education is common to all (eg minorities, people belonging to low socio-economic strata, people living in rural communities, children in insecure conditions, people in need of special education, people unable to attend highlevel universities). Many people around the world encounter obstacles to equal access to education, which prevents them from enjoying various goods in addition to the education itself (Lazanby, 2016). According to Unesco, 758 million people, both children, adults, and the elderly remain illiterate. Of these, older people, who have difficulty escaping illiteracy, are the most problematic group. People are unequal to each other because they have different genetic characteristics, different abilities and different cultural stimuli. In particular, in the case of cultural deprivation or inadequacy initially associated with the social class to which the students belonged (eg children of the working class) while today it is more closely linked to family culture (eg ethnic / ethnic minorities), it is considered to be an impediment to school performance and students' academic success. Education can act as a kind of equalizer, helping marginalized and sensitive social groups (people from low socioeconomic backgrounds, minorities, children with disabilities, the elderly, incarcerated, etc.) to overcome disadvantages and fully participate in society, as long as t","PeriodicalId":142897,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCES","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124831640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Web links studies have been conducted by the scholars and information professionals all over the world since its introduction. The main objective of the study is to investigate the web presence of repositories of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) as a part of the World Wide Web. To investigate the web presence the few sub-objectives have been framed such as to identify IITs which are having their repositories; to find out the TLD, cc TLD and file formats use by the repositories; to find out total number of Web Pages, Link Web Pages, Self Link Web Pages, External Link Web Pages and Inlink Web Pages; to calculate Overall Web Impact Factor, Simple Web Impact Factor, Self Link Web Impact Factor, External Link Web Impact Factor and Inlink Web Impact Factor. Google covers more hyperlinks with advanced search facilities to count links possessed by the websites. Therefore, the present study has used Google to collect raw data, i.e., number of web pages, number of inlinks, self links and external links etc. Boolean operators are also used to form query syntaxes for retrieving data. SocSciBot web crawler is also employed. It is used to create network map of all the websites. URLs/websites of repositories are tested through command line textual queries like link, linkdomain, site, etc. Findings have been derived after analyzing the data.","PeriodicalId":142897,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCES","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121952921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The survey method was used for the study while a structured questionnaire captioned, Application of Social Media, Networks for Research among Academic Librarians Questionnaire (ASNRALQ) was used to elicit data from the respondents. The population of study was 74 drawn from the five academic libraries under study. Data collected were analyzed using simple descriptive method while the results were tabulated. The study concluded that academic librarians in Imo State have essentially embraced the use of social media networks in their research, though restricted to a few of the media: Facebook, Wikipedia and YouTube. Some challenges like poor funding, inadequate ICT infrastructure, epileptic power supply, poor maintenance culture, etc, were found to hinder effective use of social media tools for research. Amongst the recommendations made to enhance effective use of social media in research were: government should guarantee adequate ICT infrastructure in academic libraries through conscious funding and supervision, management of academic libraries should provide internet services to enhance the use of social media tools by academic libraries, academic librarians should go all out to acquire ICT skills and competencies via personal efforts while management ensures regular training and retraining of staff on ICT.","PeriodicalId":142897,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCES","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133258326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
