This paper performs a detailed performance analysis of GNSS with a focus on failure modes in urban environments as a critical case study. A guidance-based augmentation strategy based on trajectory optimization is developedwhich accounts for the influence of urban structures on GNSS performance. A simulation case study representative of UAS operations in urban environments was performed as a preliminary assessment to corroborate the developed modules.","PeriodicalId":142603,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for AeroSpace (MetroAeroSpace)","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132174172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transport delay and the cost of such a connection should be minimal. To solve this problem as an intermediate point to be used a group of small and cheap enough satellites moving at low orbit. This article discusses the problem of gathering a group in orbit, stabilizing it, measuring relative distances and orientations. To reduce the cost of the system, it is expected to use the cheapest and therefore not very accurate, relative coordinate measures. To ensure acceptable accuracy, it is proposed to use a specially developed adaptive filtering algorithm based on the analysis of the spectral density of the updating sequence. The estimates of the navigation parameters obtained in this way are used to form the optimal terminal control of the motion by the center of mass of the active satellite. Miniature engines create the control forces. The theoretical results are confirmed by simulation.","PeriodicalId":142603,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for AeroSpace (MetroAeroSpace)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126180826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Calibration activities were performed at Leonardo SpA (formerly Selex ES) (Campi Bisenzio Firenze) premises in spring-summer 2014. The work allowed: 1) to check for the channel performances (i.e. image quality, radiometric and geometrical performances); 2) to define the calibration pipeline required to process the raw images that will be acquired during the mission operative phase. The main obtained results include the definition of: 1) channel electrical parameters (i.e. dark current, readout and fixed pattern noise); 2) radiometric performances (i.e. response vs. exposure time and flux spectral response). All the parameters have been measured at pixel level due to the relatively high variability of CMOS detectors with respect to CCDs. The final target is to obtain the calibration pipeline parameters correcting pixel-by-pixel the HRIC data. We here describe the performed measurement and the adopted analysis approach to derive the calibration parameters.","PeriodicalId":142603,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for AeroSpace (MetroAeroSpace)","volume":"305 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127515904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can generate a step pressure which rise time is of the order of nanoseconds in theory. The properties of pressure transducers in both time and frequency domains can be obtained from the dynamic calibration results with a shock tube. The influence of the gas medium on the metrological characteristics of shock tubes is presented. Four groups of tests are carried out according to the different gas media in the driver section and the driven section. According to the analysis of the test results, the influence of the gas medium on the characteristics contains the step pressure amplitude, the transfer function and the standard deviation of the shock tube was evaluated.","PeriodicalId":142603,"journal":{"name":"2018 5th IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for AeroSpace (MetroAeroSpace)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134126918","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
