Healthcare providers mainly nursing personnel are crucial and play a vital role in raising awareness and educating the public about implementation of low-cost cervical cancer screening approaches in low-resource settings. Objectives were to determine baseline information about knowledge of cervical cancer and explore attitude and practice of pap smear screening among staff nurses.\u0000Methods: The questionnaire containing mostly recognition and some recall type questions about demographics, knowledge about cervical cancer, its risk factors, screening techniques, attitudes towards cervical cancer screening and its practices and their knowledge was tested.\u0000Results: Analyses of knowledge showed that majority of nurses recognized the risk factors and symptoms associated with carcinoma of cervix. A considerable lack of knowledge was observed on the treatment of cervical cancer but a significant portion of nurses knew about prevention. A positive attitude was observed on all aspects of cervical cancer and its prevention.\u0000Conclusions: This study demonstrates a good knowledge and positive attitude about carcinoma of cervix and its prevention amongst the nurses which plays a key role in the campaign to prevent cervical malignancy. Poor practice seen in this study emphasizes the need to translate the awareness to practice. Easier availability of HPV testing and better distribution of HPV vaccine is paramount to successfully prevent cervical cancer in future.

Most are detected at an advanced stage, so early detection is essential. A scoring system can easily predict an ovarian malignancy. IOTA Simple Rules and RMI-4 are easy-to-implement scoring systems. This study aimed to evaluate the comparison between the accuracy of the IOTA simple rules scoring system and RMI-4 as a predictor of malignancy in ovarian tumor cases at Prof. Dr. IGNG Ngoerah general hospital.\u0000Methods: This study used a diagnostic trial design involving 120 ovarian tumor patients undergoing surgery at Prof. Dr. IGNG Ngoerah general hospital, with 100 patients meeting the inclusion criteria. The collected data were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS for Windows ver. 22. Results were considered significant if p≤0.05.\u0000Results: From 100 patient samples who met the inclusion criteria, 60 subjects (60%) were ovarian tumors with benign histopathologic results, and 40 (40%) subjects were tumors with malignant histopathology. The majority of ovarian tumors with malignant histopathology were found in the age group >50 years (52.5%), the menopausal group (57.5%), and multiparity (70%). CA-125 levels above 35 U/ml are found in 90% of the population, with details of 92.5% found in populations with malignant histopathological tumors. The AUC values for RMI-4 and IOTA simple rules are 0.846 and 0.925, with the p value for each scoring system being <0.001.\u0000Conclusions: This study found that the IOTA simple rules scoring method has a better diagnostic value than RMI-4 scoring.\u0000

This case report highlights a complex presentation of acute febrile illness with pancytopenia and immune-mediated cutaneous vasculitis in a patient with type II diabetes mellitus. A 52-year-old male with a known history of type II diabetes mellitus presented with fever, decreased oral intake, loose stools, oral ulcers, dysphagia, and rashes over the trunk and abdomen for four days. Upon admission to the ICU, extensive diagnostic evaluations were performed, revealing significant hematological, biochemical, and serological abnormalities. Imaging studies and histopathological examinations were conducted to further investigate the underlying etiology. Laboratory findings indicated pancytopenia, acute kidney injury, and hyperkalemia. Infectious disease workup was largely negative, except for a positive CMV IgG. Imaging studies revealed medical renal disease, and a skin punch biopsy confirmed cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis. Bone marrow biopsy suggested bone marrow suppression. Multidisciplinary management, including dialysis, IV fluids, antibiotics, blood transfusions, steroids, and Ganciclovir, led to the patient’s gradual improvement and stabilization. The comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic approach in this case underscores the importance of considering immune-mediated etiologies in patients with atypical presentations. Multidisciplinary collaboration was crucial in managing the multifaceted clinical condition of the patient. Early recognition and prompt multidisciplinary management are essential in similar cases. Extensive diagnostic evaluations should be performed to identify the underlying causes, and immune-mediated etiologies should be considered in complex presentations. Further research is recommended to explore optimal management strategies for such multifaceted conditions.\u0000

Medical hypnosis can improve symptoms of depression and affect interleukin-6 levels. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of medical hypnosis in improving depression and reducing IL-6 levels in lung cancer patients.\u0000Methods: This study is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest and post-test control group design. It assessed depressive symptoms using BDI-II scores and serum IL-6 levels in an intervention group receiving medical hypnosis and standard therapy compared to a control group receiving standard therapy. Data analysis was conducted using univariate tests, followed by Pearson correlation tests and effect size measurement with Cohen's d test.\u0000Results: The Wilcoxon test showed a decrease in IL-6 levels in the intervention group by 14.66±19.45 (p=0.008) and a reduction in BDI-II scores by 8.26±4.78 (p=0.001). Correlation tests indicated a significant relationship between IL-6 levels and BDI-II scores (r=0.472; p=0.009). Cohen's d test showed the effect size of medical hypnosis on IL-6 levels was 0.754 (moderate=0.5<ES<0.8).\u0000Conclusions: Medical hypnosis is effective in improving depressive symptoms and reducing IL-6 levels in lung cancer patients.

It is important to verify whether they develop optimal and comprehensive training to face their professional lives. The number of aesthetic surgeries performed by 12 residents during their final year of plastic surgery training was captured from clinical records for the years 2022 and 2023. The data were compiled into a database using Microsoft excel V16.47.1 and subsequently analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) software, v23.0. Significant differences were found among residents (p value=0.02) regarding the number of procedures performed by each one. However, according to the presented diagnoses, each resident faces the same cases, which are the most requested in Mexico and worldwide. This review study concludes that final-year residents in plastic surgery undergo training adhering to the academic program established by the PUEM, performing the most common aesthetic procedures in Mexico and worldwide according to the diagnoses presented by each resident.
