For this purpose, both lossless and lossy compression methods can be used, but the latter are able to provide considerably larger compression ratios. Lossy compression can be done effectively in automatic manner with grouping of sub-bands and setting the quantization step depending upon estimates of noise variance for sub-band images. In this paper we show how to select this quantization step for each group of sub-bands with providing a proper trade-off between losses (distortions) introduced and attainable compression ratio for simple and more realistic models of noise.","PeriodicalId":141554,"journal":{"name":"2008 12th International Conference on Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128793337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The separation parameter for free space case has special form allowing the general solution to be found in exact form. For arbitrary separation parameter, which occurs in analysis of conical lines, the general solution is not suitable for calculations since it contains fractional derivatives. In this paper we obtain several families of exact solutions for this case using method of symmetry analysis of the equation.","PeriodicalId":141554,"journal":{"name":"2008 12th International Conference on Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128946595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
