The insufficient state of research affected the first attempts at extensive documentation and evaluation of river finds and has caused many challenges. Results of a pilot study aimed at processing and evaluating river finds dated from the Palaeolithic to the Early Middle Ages discovered in the two largest Moravian rivers, the Morava and the Thaya, endeavoured to identify and describe these issues and improve the protection of underwater cultural heritage in the respective rivers.RESUMENLa arqueología de aguas interiores es una rama científica relativamente reciente en la República Checa. El insuficiente estado de investigación afectó los primeros intentos de documentación y evaluación exhaustivas de los hallazgos fluviales y ha planteado varios desafíos. Los resultados de un estudio piloto destinado a procesar y evaluar los hallazgos fluviales datados entre el Paleolítico y la Alta Edad Media descubiertos en los dos ríos más grandes de Moravia, el Morava y el Thaya, intentaron identificar y describir estas problemáticas y mejorar la protección del patrimonio cultural subacuático en los ríos en cuestión.摘要内陆水域考古在捷克共和国是一个相对较新的科学分支。研究不足的状态影响了对河流发现物进行广泛记录和评估的初次尝试，也因此带来了许多挑战。本文介绍了一项试点研究的结果，该研究旨在处理和评估摩拉维亚最大的两条河流摩拉瓦河和塔亚河中发现的从旧石器时代到中世纪早期的河流发现物，并致力于识别和描述这些物品，及改善对相关河流水下文化遗产的保护。摘要內陸水域考古在捷克共和國是一個相對較新的科學分支。研究不足的狀態影響了對河流發現物進行廣泛記錄和評估的初次嘗試，也因此帶來了許多挑戰。本文介紹了一項試點研究的結果，該研究旨在處理和評估摩拉維亞最大的兩條河流摩拉瓦河和塔亞河中發現的從舊石器時代到中世紀早期的河流發現物，並致力於識別和描述這些物品，及改善對相關河流水下文化遺產的保護。المُستخلصيُعد علم الآثار الخاص بالمياة داخل البلاد فرعاَ علمياً حديثاً نسبياً في جمهورية التشيك . ولقد كان لحالة البحث غير الكافية تأثيراً على المحاولات الأولى للتوثيق والتقييم الشامل لاكتشافات الأنهار، هذا إلي جانب التسبب في العديد من التحديات . إلا أن نتائج الدراسة التجريبية التي كانت تهدف إلى معالجة وتقييم اكتشافات الأنهار في أكبر نهرين في مورافا (مورافا وثايا) والتي يعود تاريخها من العصر الحجري القديم إلى أوائل العصور الوسطى، سَعت إلى تحديد ووصف هذه القضايا وتحسين حماية التراث الثقافي التحتمائي في الأنهار المَعنية.‏ABSTRAKTArcheologie vnitrozemních vod nemá v České republice tradici. S touto skutečností se pojí řada problémů, které provázejí první pokusy o velkoplošnou evidenci a zpracování říčních nálezů na našem území. Pilotní studie, která se zaměřila na zpracování a vyhodnocení říčních nálezů ze dvou největších moravských řek – Moravy a Dyje – měla za úkol přispět k pochopení těchto problémů a současně podpořit lepší památkovou ochranu kulturního podvodního dědictví v těchto řekách. V aktivních tocích sledovaných řek bylo evidováno téměř 150 říčních nálezů datovaných od paleolitu do raného středověku. Despite being exhibited since 1947, the efforts to reconstruct the ship have been limited. A substantial portion of the recovered parts has never been put on display. This paper aims to shed new light on the ship´s architecture using the original material from the excavation together with an inventory of the timbers in the collections of the Medieval Museum. The potential of the site as an 18th-century trade vessel Dragon is discussed. Artefacts including nine cannon and two bar shot along with an additional cannon and wood samples taken during a later survey support this hypothesis. Shipping records show Dragon to have traded regularly between London and Jamaica. The shipwreck survivors remained in the island for nearly three months, time devoted to the construction of another vessel while interacting peacefully with the native population. In view of the historical significance of this event, an archaeological project was conducted to locate the shipwreck and survivor’s camp. The searches were conducted both on land and underwater in the areas that were considered to have the highest potential based on previous archaeological surveys and thorough documentary research.
