The methodology involves collecting data from water samples at specific points in the basin. The concept of seasonality is represented on a temporal and spatial scale and based on the seasons, rainfall volume, parameters and water quality index. The results showed a worsening of the water quality from upstream to downstream, with a high concentration of total dissolved solids and turbidity, especially in the downstream channel. There is a tendency for greater dilution or movement of pollutants, depending on rainfall intensity, and a little evidence of a close correlation between the parameters analyzed. Climatic seasonality, related to rainfall and the observed flow rate, has an effect on improving water quality, which is aggravated by the high concentration of domestic and industrial pollution. The lack of basic sanitation in the region, especially a sanitary sewage system and a regular collection of solid waste, leads to conditions of environmental degradation in the Canal do Anil basin.","PeriodicalId":14063,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydrology","volume":"19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84730900","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, using estimating the flood forecasting for peak flow discharges is very common for the risk assessment annually by quantitative data collections from different resources. The very famous and longest rivers of Pakistan i.e. Indus River and other rivers too like River Jhelum, River Kabul, and River Chenab are the prime sources of flooding. These rivers are the prime tributaries of the Indus River System. Pakistan's longest river, River Indus, is connected with the seven (7) gauge stations called Dams and barrages, and they are playing a vital role in the generation of electricity and also in irrigation for Pakistan. In this research paper, we calculated the flood risk for the Indus using the streamflow discharges on the daily basis. At present, Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) model is widely used to analyze these hydrological time series data. Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) merges the potentiality of Fuzzy Inference Systems (FIS) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to work out problems of different kinds. For this purpose, we used the data for the years from 2002 to 2012 daily (6-months each year) streamflow period. In our analysis, the root means square error (RMSE) shows that the ANFIS model generated more satisfactory results than other models with minimum prediction errors. The ANFIS model is more reliable and has the feasibility of integrating the essence of a fuzzy system into the real world.1–28","PeriodicalId":14063,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydrology","volume":"71 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78541135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study seeks to assess the influence of seasonal factors on the quality of rainfall at a water treatment plant, located in the city of Rio de Janeiro - RJ. The methodology involved collecting rainfall samples between January 2017 and December 2018, at four specific points in the system: first flush 1 (FF1), first flush 2 (FF2), void volume (VV) and reservoir (RR). The parameters were analyzed statistically and followed seasonal patterns for each of the seasons of the year, and included: pH, turbidity, electric conductivity, total of alkalinity and chloride. The results suggest that there is an urgent need to dispose of the initial volume stored in the devices of the first flush. The water contained in the tank was of a satisfactory standard for non-drinkable purposes despite the effects of seasonality on the quality of the rainfall water. A multivariate statistical correlation analysis made it possible to assess the influence of the seasons of the year on the quality of pluvial water.","PeriodicalId":14063,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydrology","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86887100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A study has been obtained to analyse thermal radiative flow on unsteady MHD tangent hyperbolic nanoliquid near a stagnation point under viscous dissipation and chemical reaction. Also, thermal-diffusion and thermo-diffusion have been considered. The nonlinear PDE’s are altered into a set of ODE’s through suitable transformation and which are then numerically utilized. Further, numerical outputs for friction factor, Nusselt number and Sherwood are produced in table. Moreover, velocity distribution is increasing for a larger value of We and reduces for n. Moreover, similar behaviour is noted for temperature profile. A comparison with accessible outcomes for limited case is obtained with tremendous achievement.","PeriodicalId":14063,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydrology","volume":"353 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76470877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study is a longitudinal survey that looked at the nexus between urban growth and wetland loss in Port Harcourt municipality. Primary and secondary data were used. Primary data were obtained from field observations and ground-trotting. Satellite imageries for four epochs: 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2020 were acquired using Google Earth imageries. Data were analysed using the Geographic Information System (GIS) ArcGis10.4.1 software. The shape file of the study area boundary was generated using ArcGIS 10.4.1 and was used to clip the geo-referenced Google earth images for each year (1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020). The reclassified images were converted to polygons and edited. The area of each classification (land uses) was calculated in square meters using the Spatial Query Module in ArcGIS 10.4.1. Data presentation was done using maps, tables, and charts. Results of analysis revealed that there exists spatio-temporal variation in wetland loss in the study area between the years under review with wetland decreasing form 34633511.38m2 in 1990 to 30945235.9m2 in 2000, and to 23297313.11m2 in 2010 to 18688909.45m2 in year 2020. A very high positive correlation coefficient (Rs) of 0.99 obtained expresses the strong relationship between urban growth and wetland loss in the study area. The study recommends that government and its relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) should embark on wetland creation, development, and conservation to ensure the continuity in the services, functions, and value of wetland ecosystems in the study area.","PeriodicalId":14063,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydrology","volume":"102 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73865164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, the contest between urban and green areas is historically known. In this scenario, the green areas in the Eastern Amazon cities are now beneath constant pressure and some of its ecosystem services can be reduced because of environmental stress. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate environmental stressors in two urban conservation units in the Brazilian Eastern Amazon. To understand how the urbanisation affected both the eutrophication process and forest resilience in the study area, we investigated the literature about the urban sprawl in Belém city and analysed, through remote sensing techniques, the responses for vegetation and built-up indices in the last 30 years. The results showed that the city expansion had not considered sustainable criteria, which ultimately intensified the anthropic eutrophication of the Bolonha Lake. Despite anthropogenic and climate pressures in the last decades over the green areas of Belém, the forest within the park showed no signal of reduced resilience. Lastly, joint efforts are necessary to improve wastewater treatment in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, so the water quality of the reservoirs improve, and its macrophytes blooming reduce gradually.","PeriodicalId":14063,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydrology","volume":"499 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74415332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, the investigated area is located at altitudes between 3524 m.a.s.l. and 4174 m.a.s.l. Twenty-four surface water samples were collected and analyzed for anions, metal, and total cations at the INGEMMET laboratory, Geological, Mining, and Metallurgical Institute of Peru. Likewise, geological mapping was carried out to identify the mineralized and chemically altered areas, evidencing the significant presence of sulfides (pyrite). The waters of the streams have been characterized as magnesium calcium sulfate, with SO4= anion contents of up to 181.10 mg/L in the Quillcayhuanca stream and 78.8 mg/L in the Shallap stream. Likewise, for both streams, an oxidized acid environment has been determined. The oldest stratigraphic unit corresponds to shales and sandstones of the Upper Jurassic Chicama Formation. The igneous rocks are made up mostly of granodiorites and tonalites corresponding to the Batholith of the Cordillera Blanca from the Neogene-Miocene. The Quaternary is represented by glacial, glacial fluvial, morainic and fluvial deposits. Regarding the chemical quality of the water, some elements exceed the environmental quality standards (ECA) for \"Surface water intended for the production of drinking water\" such as Al, Fe, and Mn. These elements are due to geogenic factors, given the presence of sulfides in the exposed rocks in the upper parts of the ravine plus the alteration of aluminosilicates in the exposed rocks.","PeriodicalId":14063,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydrology","volume":"88 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82217375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An overview of 45 springs of the Leningrad region, attributed to the saints, is presented. Their map has been compiled (M: 1:200000). With the period of the population's self-isolation regime, Internet search queries for natural holy springs are also increasing. Statistical analysis of posts of thematic communities of the VKontakte social network by the tool \"Khitalama\" testifies to the social demand for information about holy springs references. These data serve as a promising source of information about behavioral geography. It is proposed to improve the network of specially guarding natural territories by including holy springs in it as objects of health, ecological, educational and pilgrimage tourism. On the example of the Leningrad Region, the foundations for the creation of a unified geoinformation system of holy springs are laid.","PeriodicalId":14063,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydrology","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85171411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
