Methods: This study adopted a cross-sectional study format in which we surveyed 100 athletes attending a medical university in Ajman, UAE. The subjects of this study were all over the age of 18 and reported practicing the sport or exercise more than twice a week, consistently. An interviewer-administered questionnaire was administered, which inquired about the subjects' socio-demographic characteristics, details of sports activity, type of injury, and factors associated with a sports-related injury. The results were expressed in frequencies and percentages, wherever applicable. The association between dependent and independent variables was tested by performing a chi-square test as well as binary logistic regression for significant chi-square values. This study’s significance level was set at p ≤ 0.05. Results: Among the participants engaged in football, 20 (44.4%) were identified as having sustained injuries, marking football as the sport with the highest incidence of sports-related injuries. Cricket and weight-lifting emerged as the most injury-prone sports, with 60% (6 & 3, respectively) of participants in these activities reporting injuries. The most frequently self-reported type of injury was sprains, accounting for 47.8% (33 respondents), followed by bruises at 33.33% (23 respondents). Among the participants, 59.2% (N = 58) reported experiencing no sports-related injuries, while 40.8% (N = 40) did encounter a sports injury in the last 12 months. When examining the specific injury sites, the lower limb was the most common, with 51% of participants experiencing injuries in this area (N = 20). The upper limb followed closely, where 35% of participants reported injuries (N = 14). A smaller proportion experienced injuries in the head (7%, N = 3), chest (4%, N = 2), and groin (3%, N = 1). Gender was identified as the sole significant risk factor (P = 0.02), as revealed by simple binary logistic regression analysis. The findings indicated that male respondents were 2.9 times more likely to sustain sports-related injuries than their female counterparts (95% CI: 1.1- 7.2). Conclusions: Within the last 12 months, 40.8% (N=40) of participants were identified as having experienced an injury, and approximately 70.4% (N=69) reported a history of sports-related injuries. Our investigation underscores that organized sports activities are primarily associated with injuries to the lower limbs, specifically the legs, with 51% (N=20) of participants attributing their injuries to this region. This correlation is likely influenced by the prevalence of football (soccer) participation, which demands extensive use of the lower limbs. The most commonly reported injury was a sprain, noted by 47.8% (N=47) of participants. HSG is considered to be a cardinal diagnostic tool for proper assessment of uterine morphology and tubal patency. Due to its invasive mode of evaluation, it is considered to be a stressful and painful procedure. The updated researches show very scarce data regarding this maneuver. In this study, our aim was to investigate women's experience of HSG in terms of anxiety and pain using Beck's Anxiety Inventory (BAI) score and visual analogue scale (VAS) score respectively. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional prospective study was conducted in the X-Ray department of radiology of a tertiary care hospital in Karachi in 1 year period from 19-11-21 till 19-11-22. The data was collected from patients after taking a verbal consent and evaluating patients during the HSG procedure over a specified period. The sample size for the study was calculated to be 240 patients. The level of anxiety and pain of patients was judged on the basis of Beck Anxiety Inventory score (BAI) and Visual Analogue Score (VAS) respectively. Frequencies and percentages were computed for qualitative variables. Quantitative variables were presented as mean ± SD like age. Effect modifier like age was controlled through stratification. P-value of ≤0.05 was considered as significant. Results: The level of anxiety of patients was judged on the basis of Beck Anxiety Inventory score. 42.1% patients (n= 86) had nominal anxiety pre procedure, 45.6% patients (n=93) had mild anxiety. Moderate anxiety was noted in 6.4% of patients (n=13) while 5.9% (n=12) patients had severe anxiety. As per our results, patients who had nominal anxiety pre procedure, 83% of them suffered from mild pain and 17% of the patients suffered moderate pain and 0% had severe pain. Those who presented with mild anxiety experienced mild pain in 23% cases, moderate pain in 76% cases and none experienced severe pain. Patients with moderate and severe anxiety suffered severe pain in all (100%) cases. Conclusion: Anxiety has a crucial role in determining the pain score of the patient and with timely assessment of anxiety score; its management can reduce patient’s fear and sufferings. This study will serve as a basis of awareness and modification in pain and stress management for many invasive procedures done in diagnostic radiology.","PeriodicalId":14008,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Research in Medical Science","volume":" 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139628064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conventional MRI has limited specificity. The combination of MRI using diffusion-weighted imaging, perfusion-weighted imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy allows more accurate assessment of the tissue microenvironment. Objective: The role of diffusion-weighted Perfusion - Weighted Imaging, and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy techniques to evaluate the Accuracy of Brain Neoplasms Diagnosis. Method: This project is based on cross-sectional design. The population of this study were 80 patients with brain tumors that have been indicated for MRI test in the period of sampling which was during February 2023 to July 2023. The data-collecting technique was done by the researcher using a questionnaire, observation, and laboratory findings. The questionnaire was designed and copied by the researcher. MRI examinations was performed using MRI 1.5 T scanner (Philips MULTIVA systems) using a phase array 6 channels head coil at the radiology department. The data had encoded and then entered into the statistical program (SSPS version 26). Results: A total 80 of six equally collected group samples were investigated radiographically for brain (8, 9, 17, 31, 7, and 8 patients) respectively after the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The age of each study sample was normally distributed and ranged from 10 to 86 years without significant differences between them (P-value= 0.16). One patient out of 80 was diagnosed incorrectly when using MRS sequence. Therefore, the achieved total accuracy, sensitivity and specificity are 97.61%, 100% and 87.5% respectively. The achieved p-value among study’s groups is 0.6. Although it is highly significant and accurate in the MRS procedure, additionally, the p-value when implementing the three independent sample ANOVA-test between the Choline, creatine and NAA is high significant with p value choline being 0.0001 and p-value for NAA being 0.0024 which means that there are highly significant differences between tissue brain groups. 80 patients were diagnosed correctly when using combining diffusion, perfusion and MRS sequence. Therefore, the achieved total accuracy, sensitivity and specificity are 100%, 100% and 98.9% respectively. Additionally, the achieved p-value of overall diagnosing result is 0.75 which confirms that no patients failed to diagnose by combining DWI, PWI and MRS than separate protocol. Conclusion: In this study we found that it is possible to diagnose brain malignancies with a greater level of sensitivity and accuracy by combining perfusion, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). It has been found that using the CBF and CBV parameters for diagnosing brain lesions is more effective than using the MTT and TTP parameters. The NAA and Choline parameters are superior to the Creatinine parameter in terms of their ability to accurately diagnose brain lesions. Gastroscopy with skin biopsies and barium swallow confirmed a hereditary epidermolysis bullosa. He was treated by pneumatic dilatation. The second case is a 60-year-old female admitted because of dysphagia. She was on good condition but had lingual erosions and anonychia affecting fingernails and toenails, with esophageal stenosis. The skin biopsy confirmed the DEB. She was treated successfully with pneumatic dilatation. The third case is a 15-year-old male who was transferred to our department for management of esophageal stenosis.
