The current study focuses on the extraction and characterization of Chitin and chitosan from the exoskeleton of local Prawn and Crab species by sequence of chemical processes involving demineralization, deproteinization and deacetylation. Crustacean Chitin and chitosan having more biological value such as physiological, non-toxicity, bio-digestibility, compatibility, absorption etc. these biological value of chitosan depend on the quality parameters which is related to source of raw material. The obtained chitin was transformed into most useful soluble chitosan. People with high fish intake have lower rates of acute myocardial infarctions and atherosclerosis, better cognitive functions and better neural and visual development in fetus. In the present work, we evaluated the seasonal variations in nutritional value of Channa striatus including total carbohydrate, protein and lipid content with respect to three seasons i.e. pre-monsoon, post monsoon and winter season of Narmada River from Bandhrabhan, Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. Nutritional components like carbohydrate, protein and lipids are severely influenced with the change in season and water quality parameters. The nutritional analysis showed that all the main three nutritional components i.e. Protein, carbohydrate and lipid content of Channa striatus is seen maximum in the winter season followed by post-monsoon and pre-monsoon. In general results suggested that the Channa striatus fish species of Narmada River of winter season contains the best nutritive value as compared to pre monsoon and post-monsoon. Hence consumption is more beneficial in winter season.","PeriodicalId":13993,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Fauna and Biological Studies","volume":"87 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86676191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the morphology of four different Mauremys rivulata populations in Çanakkale was evaluated between populations and sexes. The straight carapace length (SCL), carapace width (CW), plastron length (PL), plastron width (PW), body weight (W) measurements were obtained from a total of 114 adult specimens from four populations. The body sizes were examined comparatively in four Mauremys rivulata populations from Kavak Delta located in the Thrace region, City Center located in Anatolia, and two islands (Gökçeada and Bozcaada) which are the districts of Çanakkale. Significant differences were found between males and females in all populations, with females being larger than males. When the four populations were compared, it was determined that Gökçeada population is the largest specimens (Female SCL 197,23±7,545; Male SCL 187,47±13,757) and City Center population is the smallest specimens (Female SCL 152,02±23,391; Male SCL 129,67±20,466).","PeriodicalId":13993,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Fauna and Biological Studies","volume":"64 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73270524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study was envisaged to highlight the impact of anthropogenic activities on avifauna. Our study revealed habitat destruction (60%) being the most detrimental human activity on avifauna diversity habitats due to timber extraction, livestock grazing, firewood and medicinal herbs, however, hunting of birds for continuous use (15%) only affected limited bird species. Two areas were taken protected areas (possessing low cultivation, overgrazing, and logging) and second unprotected areas (having higher levels of intervention). Farms around the wetlands increased bird diversity. The current study demands strict actions on illegal forest exploitation to ensure survival of avifauna diversity in Bhoj Wetland, Bhopal. Proper management not only will improve the current situation for its dweller species, but also will attract more species in future.","PeriodicalId":13993,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Fauna and Biological Studies","volume":"53 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90399145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Acanthocephala are endoparasites. The present investigation was conducted to document the seasonal population dynamics of Pallisentis ophiocephali (Acanthocephala), and the impact of host on it, Channa striatus of Karimnagar region of Telangana. A total of 419 and 379 viscera of fish were examined over a period of two years (from February 2019 to January 2021). Annual prevalence was 37.42% and 43.48% for the 1st and 2nd years respectively. The average monthly prevalence was 22.64% (January, 2019) to 63.33% (October, 2019) and for the 2020-2021 year it ranged from 22.91% (January, 2012) to as high as 81.81 %( June, 2021). It was more during rainy (53.85%), followed by summer (44.93%) and winter (31.72%). It may be attributed to the availability of food organisms during rainy season.","PeriodicalId":13993,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Fauna and Biological Studies","volume":"190 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72792550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
