The isolated pentagon rule (IPR) states that all pentagonal carbon rings are isolated in the most stable fullerene. Electron transfer between fullerenes and other molecules is thought to involve the transfer of electrons between molecules surrounding the fullerene cage. One class of interesting molecules is the mono adduct methanofullerene derivatives (Y3N@C80-[6,6]-Methanofullerene-R). Nanosilica powders were mixed with soil at different concentrations along with control and conventional silica under in vitro and in vivo conditions. In in vitro, the nanosilica increases seed germination (2–11%), water usage efficiency (up to 53%), and total chlorophyll content (13–17%) of maize crop. In in vivo, influence of nanosilica was analyzed on basic parameters such as stem height, stem width, number of leaves, and silica content. The results showed that diffusion limited aggregation of TiO2 nanoparticles takes place within 10 min in the absence of Cd(II). In the presence of Cd(II), the rate of aggregate growth is significantly higher than the rate for diffusion-limited aggregation around algae within 5 min, the TiO2 nanoparticles are more stable than in the presence of Cd(II). That is, in the presence of Cd(II), enhanced aggregation occurs of TiO2 nanoparticles. Cd(II) was adsorbed onto algae quickly in the presence TiO2 nanoparticles and equilibrium was reached within 30 min and relatively slow in the absence of Cd(II). The equilibrium concentration of the adsorption of Cd(II) is longer than that of the Cd(II), and TiO2 nanoparticles exist synchronously for the algae, The bioaccumula...","PeriodicalId":13985,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Green Nanotechnology","volume":"33 1","pages":"229-237"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77746952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the concentration of PDADMAC increased, the resulting blend solution was spinnable only after adjusting the solution behavior and electrospinning parameters. These nanofibers were cross-linked by heat treatment to make them water insoluble for applications. The average diameters of the nanofiber blends were reduced (118 ± 30 nm) when compared to PVA (151 ± 24 nm). The co-powders were prepared by sol-gel method and were characterized by XRD and SEM. The pellets of powders were made by applying uniaxial pressure of 500 MPa and annealed in an electric furnace at 100, 200, 300, and 400°C for 3 h each. After each step of annealing, each of these pellets was exposed to humidity in a specially designed humidity chamber. It was observed that as relative humidity (%RH) increased, the resistance decreased for the entire range of humidity, that is, from 10% to 95%. The %RH has been measured using standard hygrometer; variations in the resistance have been recorded using multimeter.","PeriodicalId":13985,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Green Nanotechnology","volume":"283 1","pages":"160-169"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82827919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The thermal stabilities of the obtained products were characterized by thermal analysis using a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), which showed that addition of 5 wt% of organoclay to the PU increased its stability, whereas thermal stabilization was less efficient at 10 wt%. The electrical conductivities of these composites were studied as a function of temperature, and it was found that the conductivity of PU was enhanced upon using 5 wt% of organoclay. The tensile strength, elongation (%), and Young's modulus were considerably enhanced upon increasing the organoclay content to 5 wt%, but were then decreased to some extent upon further increase of the nanoparticle loading to 10 wt%. These techniques included preparation of CdS nanoparticles in a liquid crystal state with H2S as well as by mixing two lamellar phases, sol-gel technique, using thiophenol as capping agent, and prepared it in reverse micelles. XRD, which shows the crystalline nature of the materials as well as determines their size with Scherrer's equation has been studied. Absorption spectra, not only for CdS nanoparticles but for CdS dispersed in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), were studied and show a blue shift as a result of nanoparticles. Synthesis was performed at room temperature. X-ray, selected-area electron diffraction (SAED) and transmission electron microscopy analyses were performed to ascertain the formation of Au nanoparticles. Nanoparticles almost spherical in shape with a size of 4–10 nm were found. UV-visible study revealed the surface plasmon resonance at 540 nm. The lattice strain was estimated to be 0.0044 using the Williamson-Hall approach.
