Synthesis was performed at room temperature. X-ray, selected-area electron diffraction (SAED) and transmission electron microscopy analyses were performed to ascertain the formation of Au nanoparticles. Nanoparticles almost spherical in shape with a size of 4–10 nm were found. UV-visible study revealed the surface plasmon resonance at 540 nm. The lattice strain was estimated to be 0.0044 using the Williamson-Hall approach.
