The muscles are divided into 10% smooth and cardiac muscle, and 40% skeletal or striated muscle, which in turn is made up of numerous fibers with a diameter of 10-80 μm made up of smaller subunits. Each muscle fiber has a membrane, sarcomere, bands and a disk; and it is made up of thousands of myofibrils (1500 myosin filaments and approximately 3000 actin filaments), adjacent to each other, being large polymerized protein molecules responsible for muscle contraction. These filaments partially interdigitate, thus giving alternate, light (actin filaments known as bands I, isotropic in polarized light) and dark (myosin filaments or A bands, anisotropic in polarized light) overlapping each other and with projections. (Crossed bridges), giving an interaction that causes muscle contraction.1–5 The muscular contraction is divided according to the contractile function of the fiber, in type I or slow contraction, which is repetitive, resistant to fatigue, with a greater amount of mitochondria and capillary action, ideal for low intensity exercise; and type II or rapid contraction, for high intensity and short time activity, with high resistance, capable of producing greater force.","PeriodicalId":13982,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Family & Community Medicine","volume":"110 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79610763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On child health, little has been invested in the production of new knowledge. This article purposes to describe the experience of some researchers from a reference center in the care of rare diseases. Research with children and adolescentes requires a playful environment. In addition, it is necessary to understand that the protagonist of the study is the child and the adolescent. The experience of the researchers at the reference center is based on a data collection field inserted in the routine of daily and regular appointments. The waiting room is the great facilitator of the research, with library, games and music, enabling the adherence and participation of both the patient and their guardian. The researchers also use empathy when inviting children and adolescents to participate in the research and privilege the creation of bonds with patients. The child’s role in research promotes the need to adapt both the physical space and the approach, which would favor the scarcity of these studies. However, even with these singularities, research on chronic pediatric patients is important, given the relevance of these patients’ participation in the health sector budget, both in national and international settings.","PeriodicalId":13982,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Family & Community Medicine","volume":"58 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80168686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is recognized as an important parameter for assessing the quality of patient care services delivered by healthcare organizations. Therefore, it reflects the gap between the expected services and the experience of the service . Objective: To assess patient satisfaction toward Health service deliveries and factors associated with satisfaction at Negele Arsi General Hospital and Medical College, Negelle, Ethiopia, 2018. Method: Institutional based cross-sectional study design was conducted. All patients greater than 18 years old visited Health service deliveries at NegeleArsi General Hospital and Medical College during study period were included. Critically ill patients were excluded. All items in the structured questionnaire were scored on five-point Likert scale. Data was collected by one nurse diploma holder. Data was entered in to SPSS version 20 computer program by investigator for analysis. Most of the responses were analyzed descriptively with simple frequency distribution as a measure of central tendency and percentages. Results: The proportion of the patients who were satisfied in health care services rendered at Negele Arsi General Hospital and Medical College was 90.8% and among the respondents 2.0% were dissatisfied and 7.2% were neutral. Majority of the patients were satisfied with the Pharmacy services (95.7%). Similarly, 84(93.3%) of the respondents were satisfied with the services rendered by Physicians, Midwifery and Nurses. On the contrary, the proportions of low satisfied respondents (85.0%) were with the Laboratory services. Conclusion and recommendation: The proportion of the patients who were satisfied was relatively high. However, payment for the service, and long waiting time for laboratory result were found to be the major causes of dissatisfaction. Therefore, the Hospital management should identify these departments and plan for a better service delivery.","PeriodicalId":13982,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Family & Community Medicine","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75323944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Much has been written on depression but manifestations of other behavioral problems appear either together or after its clinical course occurrence, being stress one of the most prevalent of all. Stress raises responses in the body from practically all of the organs such as tachycardia, dyspineia, anxiety and suffering emotions. This is a defense mechanism learnt since primordial times by mammals in occasions of fear of attack. Pathophysiologically it causes a hyper adrenergic state that triggers the symptoms that accompany it. Many metabolic changes occur in parallel and not only the health professional but the population itself must be aware of its potential occurrence and effects so that therapeutic and preventive measures may be installed. The excessive mechanisms of adaptation are responsible for adaptation diseases such as hypertension, infarction, ulcer, etc. The organism is therefore harmed by its own defense mechanisms, a fact that calls for clinical attention and intervention.","PeriodicalId":13982,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Family & Community Medicine","volume":"175 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85433861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The intrauterine device (IUD) is a long term reversible contraceptive method that is suitable for women of all reproductive ages, and represents the most cost effective reversible method for preventing unwanted pregnancies. However, its utilization in Ethiopia is very low as compared to other contraceptive methods. Objective: To assess postpartum intra-uterine contraceptive device utilization among mothers who delivered and seek immunization service at DTGH, North Central Ethiopia. Methods: Facility based cross sectional study design was conducted from November 17, 2017, to January 01, 2018. A total of 182 respondents were interviewed. Systematic random sampling procedure was used to select each eligible study unit as a participant. Data were collected by Midwifery professionals through face to face interview through structured questionnaires under supervision. The data collectors and supervisors were trained prior to data collection. Pretest was conducted on 5% of the study population to check for the accuracy of tools. Confidentiality was also protected by making the data collection procedure anonymous. The association between dependent and independent variables were determined by descriptive statistics of chi square test using SPSS version 20.0 software and p-values of <0.05 were considered as statistically significant. Result: One hundred eighty two mothers were interviewed to assess IUCD utilization after giving birth at DTGH with a response rate of 97%. Only 6 respondents (3.3%) are currently using IUCD after giving birth to 9 months of their post partum period. Acceptances of IUCD with P of 0.004 and Reasons for refusal of IUCD with P value of 0.035 were some of statistically associated variables for utilization of PP IUCD. Conclusion: PP IUCD utilization in the study area is low as compared to other similar studies (3.3%). There are major discrepancy between acceptance level (37.91%) and PP IUCD utilization. Responsible bodies should address the reason for this major discrepancy to minimize the gap.","PeriodicalId":13982,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Family & Community Medicine","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74612920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the International Diabetes Federation in 2017, there were 451 million people (aged 18 to 99 years old) who suffered from diabetes worldwide and it is expected to have increased significantly to 693 million by 2045.1 Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease of variable etiology and with social, behavioral, environmental and genetic risk factors, which make the disease study more complex. The most common form of diabetes is type 2 diabetes (T2D) and it is presented in 90–95% of all adult patients with diabetes2. That phenomenon occurs because obesity has been getting more and more common among youngster populations worldwide.
