For the environmental assessment of its sediments, a study was carried out to determine the concentrations of major elements and trace elements (Cd, Cr, Al, Pb, Zn, Cu and Ni) during two different hydrological seasons: in summer (June 2017) and in winter (April 2018). In the two campaigns 20 sediment samples were collected in 10 sampling sites. The various sampling sites were distributed upstream and downstream of the Ykem river. These metals were analyzed at CNESTEN using the ICP MS technique. The geo-accumulation index, the Enrichment Factor (EF) and the Pollution Load Index (PLI) were used for the assessment of metallic contamination of the sediments. The results of this study show a homogeneous distribution of the contents of major elements with a dominance of the elements SiO2 and TiO2 in the two campaigns. High Cd contents which exceed the contents of geochemical backgrounds. High levels of Cd, Pb and Al. And low concentrations for (Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn) for the two campaigns. The PLI variations show that all the stations have PLI values greater than 1. The Enrichment Factor does not show contamination at all sampling stations. The values of Igeo show levels which vary from uncontaminated to moderately contaminated.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67452395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, continuous excessive fluoride ingestion could cause significant adverse health effects in humans, ranging from mild dental fluorosis to debilitating skeletal fluorosis, depending on the level and period of exposure to fluorides. In rural areas, the source of fluoride in well water could be due to natural, industrial, or anthropogenic contamination. The purpose of our work was to assess the degree of contamination of groundwater by fluorides from different regions in Morocco located in agricultural campaigns, where the only source of consumable water is well water. A total of 40 well water samples were collected from 7 rural Moroccan areas. Fluoride level analyses were performed using a fluoride-specific ion electrode (HI-4110). The fluoride levels found in the various well waters of the different regions range from 0.2 mg/l to 6.58 mg/l. Five wells have levels that exceed the recommended adult standards, while 28 wells have levels above the recommended standards for children. These results help warn the public about the risk of developing dental fluorosis and encourage them to change the sources of water consumption from the well waters with high fluoride content.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67452455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, environmental hazards due to climate change is perceived as potential threats to tourism. This paper aims to understand the effect of environmental hazards on the international tourist arrivals in Malaysia. Malaysian monthly data was analyzed using the linear regression approach to examine the tourism-led economic growth. Granger Causality Test is employed to test for directional cause analysis among variables. Overall results also show that an increase in environmental hazards that moderated with international tourist arrivals leads to a lower Malaysian economic growth in Malaysia. Meanwhile, better air quality boosts the number of international tourist arrivals, hence stimulates Malaysian economic growth. Granger causality results indicate that there exists a bidirectional cause between international tourist arrivals and climate change (temperature, and thunderstorm) but a unidirectional causality exists between international tourist arrivals and economic growth, carbon emission, air quality and rainfall, respectively. Effective mitigation of climate change needs to be implemented by the authorities to reduce the environmental risk.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67452528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it can promote negative impacts such as environmental pollution, threatening human health, and making pathogens more resistant. This study aims to determine the inhibition of Trichoderma Tc-Jjr-02 in vitro against Colletotrichum sp. and test its ability as a biopesticide and biofertilizer agent in suppressing the growth of anthracnose disease and chili production. The results show that, there was no interaction effect between the application of Trichoderma Tc-Jjr-02 as a biopesticide and biofertilizer agent. The in vitro test reveals that Trichoderma Tc-Jjr-02 could inhibit the growth of pathogenic colonies up to 61.4% at 11 days after inoculation. In vivo test show, that application of Trichoderma 6 hours before inoculation of pathogens (T1) and Trichoderma inoculation concurrent pathogens (T3) can reduce the symptoms intensity of anthracnose attacks 70% and 43%, respectively, then increasing the number of fresh fruit 62.66% and 76.58%, respectively, also increasing fresh fruit weights 84.83% and 91.90% respectively, compared with the pathogen inoculation treatment six hours before the application of Trichoderma. Thus, Trichoderma is more effective when applied before inoculation of pathogens and more suitable as a prevention agent. Using Trichoderma asperellum as biopesticed can protect the environment.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"56 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67451092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Water quality parameters including pH, temperature, turbidity, TSS, EC, DO, BOD, COD, NH4+-N, NO3--N, PO43--P, Cl-, E. coli, coliform and Fe were used in the analysis. Cluster analysis (CA) was employed to analyze spatial variations of water quality, while principal component analysis (PCA) was used to identify key indicators affecting water quality. The findings showed that surface water quality in Vinh Long province was contaminated with organic matters (high BOD, COD and low DO), nutrients (NH4+-N, PO43--P), and microorganisms (E. coli, coliforms). The value of water quality health comprehensive was mainly evaluated at a “poor” to “medium” level. The CA results revealed that the water monitoring locations could be reduced from 63 to 48 locations, saving 23.8% of the total monitoring cost. PCA identified seven parameters that considerably influenced surface water due to four polluting water sources: runoff, residential areas, industrial and agricultural activities. Further studies need to identify specific sources and scales of water pollution for appropriate water management strategies.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67452634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The discharge of the Phu Loc (PL) channel will be inserted through the outlet into Da Nang Bay. However, the PL channel receives many sources of wastewater so the highly polluted channel water. Therefore, the outlet of PL channel has become the environmental hotspot of the Da Nang Sea. Mike 21 FM Hydrodynamics module coupled with a water quality model using Mike 21 FM ECOLab module is used to simulate water quality and to identify the spreading of NH4+, which is used as a pollutant tracer. Currently, the outlet of PL channel generates the polluted area along the coast in different directions depending on the current and the direction of the wind. This study proposes three scenarios of designing the outlet far from the coastline 400 m, 500 m, and 600 m, respectively. The finding of this research demonstrates that the best way to discharge the wastewater from PL channel would be the outlet to be moved 500 m away from the coastline. NH4+ concentration > 0.2 mg/l will cover an area that distributes about 100 m around the coastline. NH4+ concentration > 0.5 mg/l covers an area approximately 0.03 km2.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67452817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The OMWW are the aqueous phase resulting from the crushing of olives, causing worrying environmental problems in particular that it contains large quantities of organic compounds especially phenols compounds which cause many environmental problems such as water pollution. Therefore, the treatment of OMWW is very necessary. The purpose of this work was the investigation of the efficiency of hydroxyapatite-Sodium alginate composite for the adsorption of phenolic compounds, which are contained in OMMW. It showed promising results in reducing the phenol compounds and organic matter by 60% and 64% respectively and the reduction of Hydroxytyrosol and Tyrosol by 100% and 38% respectively, which are the most predominant polyphenols in OMWW. For second cycle of adsorption-desorption, the adsorbent lost slightly its adsorption capacity, reduction rate of phenol compounds and organic matter pass from 64% and 60% to 45% and 50% respectively.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67452865","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resource utilization performance of a banana production factory in the middle part of Thailand was collected in 2020. The economic analysis and circular economy were used for developing the potential of banana production waste as value-added products. Finally, potential scenarios of value-added banana production were selected by brainstorming with the factory owner based on the circular economy approach. The result found four types of waste in banana production, including wastewater, rejected banana material, banana peel, empty banana bunch, and waste generated from the production process. Nine scenarios for value-added banana production were developed and proposed by the resource performance, economic analysis and circular economy implementation. After brainstorming with the banana factory owner, four potential scenarios for value-added banana production waste under circular economy concept were selected. The details of potential scenarios were as the following: banana powder form rejected banana, bio-compost from banana peels, re-use of wastewater, and sale of solid waste. From this finding, the circular economy concept should be recommended and implemented for enhancing the efficiency of the banana production process.","PeriodicalId":13980,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental science and development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67450946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
