In particular, technology capabilities are essential to enhance firms’ capacity. This paper explores the relationship between technology infrastructure, manufacturing technology and sustainable manufacturing practice (SMP) in the context of SMEs. The data were collected through questionnaires using purposive sampling in Thailand, with completed 237 surveys being returned. We used structural equation modeling to test the research framework. The results reveal that the implementation of SMP in SMEs is still at a medium level, thus demonstrating that there is still substantial room for enhancement. Moreover, the findings show that technology infrastructure has an impact on SMP, while manufacturing technology also significantly mediates the relationship between technology infrastructure and SMP. These findings imply that SMEs in the manufacturing industry can develop technology capabilities as essential resources to gain higher SMP for sustainability in the competitive business environment and to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).","PeriodicalId":13836,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86282851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study attempts to estimate the impact of the debt rule on fiscal sustainability indicators for 77 countries during 1985 - 2018. There are two existing indicators are widely utilized cover primary gap and recursive algorithm. To deal with the potential of a random walk of the variables, the two-step system generalized method of moment (GMM) estimator is employed. Specifically, the current study constructs a new fiscal sustainability indicator by incorporating financial technology (FinTech) using principal component analysis (PCA) for 67 countries in 2014 and 2017. The new indicator is the main contribution on the existing literature of fiscal sustainability. The findings reveal that the debt rule has a positive and significant impact on the primary gap, either in the short- or medium-term, implying that the debt rule is effective in encouraging fiscal sustainability. Conversely, it has a negative and significant impact on the recursive algorithm. Similarly, this rule significantly contributes on the new indicator by incorporating FinTech. Therefore, policymakers are challenged to conduct this rule as a key fiscal rule in fiscal sustainability policy. The policymakers should also take more attention to increase the level of FinTech to guarantee fiscally sustainable level.","PeriodicalId":13836,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81349859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Partial least squares structural equation modelling was used to analyze the results. It is worth noting that even though both actual and perceived financial knowledge affected each individual’s risk tolerance, still perceived knowledge affected more the individual’s risk tolerance. The actual and perceived financial knowledge that the individuals possess would enable them to make sound investments. Our study added the multi-group analyses in order to investigate if gender affected each individual’s decision-making on investment. The results revealed that in the case of men, both actual and perceived financial knowledge positively correlated with risky investment intention, whereas in the case of women only actual financial knowledge did. The key point from our study indicated that confidence or self-perceived knowledge was a significant factor affecting individual decision-making on investments. Hence, the educators and policymakers should provide effective lessons on financial knowledge by creating actual knowledge in order to help avoid overconfidence.","PeriodicalId":13836,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85609957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This situation makes it problematic for domestic industries to compete with foreign products. The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia adjusted the de minimis threshold to USD3 from USD75 to anticipate it. The policy is expected to limit imported products and support the sustainability of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Research related to imports through e-commerce in Indonesia still needs to be completed. This study aims to analyse several variables predicted to affect cross-border e-commerce. This research employs the ordinary least square (OLS) and error correction model (ECM) approach to examine the effect of exchange rates, inflation, income, and discounts on imports from e-commerce. A one-way ANOVA test was used to find the difference in the average imports of the three de minimis groups (USD100, USD75, and USD3). It utilized transaction data obtained from the Lazada e-commerce platform. Lazada was chosen because it is one of the biggest marketplaces in Indonesia. The test result found that discounts significantly affect the short and long-term import value. In addition, lowering de minimis tends to decrease the average import of consignment goods. The result implies that the government should improve regulations to support SMEs as one of the keys to the success of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) from the COVID-19 pandemic.","PeriodicalId":13836,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82908442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To overcome this barrier, SMEs might reduce information asymmetries between them and banks by signaling their entrepreneurial activities that are based on Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) and by having frequent contact with banks in a lending relationship. In this regard, this paper purposes to find out the impacts of signaling EO and relationship lending on bank credit access of SMEs. To fulfill this aim, the researcher has applied stratified random and purposive sampling methods to create the research sample from SMEs that operate in various geographical regions of Turkey. The researcher also employs a self-administered internet-mediated questionnaire to collect data from 479 SMEs. Moreover, this paper runs Binary Logistic Regression Test to analyze the impacts of signaling EO and lending relationship on bank credit access. According to the results, trademark ownership, R&D subsidies received by SMEs and closeness of communication between SMEs and banks positively affect bank credit access of SMEs. On the other hand, patent ownership, R&D investments and alliances of SMEs with prominent firms do not influence their credit access.","PeriodicalId":13836,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88356224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Individuals with time pressures and constraints, such as those subject to long working hours or other commitments that take up much of their day, may find click-and-drive a convenient option. This paper investigates the influences of unobserved factors such as perceived convenience, travel time, travel distance, time pressure, product quality risk, and perceived relative advantage, as well as observed factors such as demographic factors, on the likelihood of using click-and-drive for grocery shopping, based on the utility theory. Ordered probit estimation on cross-sectional data collected from 351 respondents revealed that the potential to save time as well as perceived convenience and relative advantage increase the likelihood of consumers using click-and-drive for their shopping. Perceived product quality risk is a deterrent against the adoption of click-and-drive services. Consumers are generally uncomfortable buying perishable items, such as fish, via online channels. The findings have valuable implications for retailers intending to establish and improve click-and-drive offerings, especially with the aim of achieving contact-free transactions post-COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":13836,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81481213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, several problems arise from the issue among agricultural households, as one of them is migration. Indeed, most migrants come to rural areas due to livelihood and poverty alleviation motives. Hence, the objectives of the study are to identify the determinants for agricultural households involving family members in rural-urban migration and measure the impact of migration on vulnerability to poverty. The study focuses on observing primary data with a face-to-face interview of 400 agricultural households in the area of West Java, Indonesia as a sample size. Then, the analysis uses the model of Propensity Score Matching (PSM), which is estimated by using the Probit Model. The empirical evidence from a Probit model indicates that the variables of the household head’s age, education level, household size, house ownership and per capita expenditure significantly determines the propensity of agricultural households to be involved in migration movement. Meanwhile, migration activity has a positive impact on decreasing vulnerability to poverty by the agricultural households in West Java, Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":13836,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85203049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper analyzes the effect of financial inclusion on a household’s income and the role of cellphone and internet access in household financial inclusion in Indonesia. We develop the financial deprivation of each household to calculate financial exclusion. The Indonesia Family Life Survey year 2014 data are utilized in this paper. Our methodology is Ordinary Least Square (OLS) to examine how the role of financial institutions affects a household’s income. In the second model, we use Probit estimation to determine the likelihood of household financial deprivation due to cellphone and internet access. We also check the robustness of previous models using Propensity Score Matching (PSM) estimation. Our estimation results found that financial exclusion has a highly significant impact on a specific group of households. With middle-level income households, the financial exclusion would deprive income of almost 80 percent. This finding explains that middle welfare households benefited more from financial inclusion than households in the poorest and the wealthiest group. Another result found that cellphone and mobile banking significantly impact decreasing financial deprivation, respectively.","PeriodicalId":13836,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79046955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
