The three pre-strained Ni 50%, Ti 50% wires with 10 mm offset from neutral axis are used. The wires are embedded along the length of rectangular beam and elastomeric core is sandwiched between two copper plates. The beam is tested for free-free boundary condition and average 48% shift in natural frequency is observed when the stiffness of beam is changed by heating the wire by 4.5 amp electric current. The effect of actuation current on damping factor and time required to regain its original frequency, after making current zero, is estimated and presented.","PeriodicalId":13708,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials & Emerging Engineering Technologies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80147499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have performed dielectric study with temperature variation in the frequency range 100 Hz to 40 MHz. The present study is important due to unusual shape of these liquid crystal dimer. The dielectric results suggest that relaxation mode has been observed in MHz region for the sample . For the sample relaxation mode follows Cole-Cole theory. Relaxation frequency and relaxation strength have been evaluated from Cole-Cole plot. In addition to this, activation energy has also been calculated from Arrhenius plot showing higher value than other conventional liquid crystal material.","PeriodicalId":13708,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials & Emerging Engineering Technologies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73954521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The structural, optical, morphological and compositional analysis were carried out by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Optical absorption spectroscopy, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) respectively. Effect of concentration of 2-Mercaptoethanol on particle size was investigated. In the absence of capping agent the yield of PbS particles was maximum. XRD shows the formation of PbS nanoparticles with cubic structure. Absorption spectra reveals the blue shift with increase in the concentration of 2-Mercaptoethanol due to decrease in particle size. EDAX study confirms the formation of stoichiometric PbS nanoaprticles for all concentration of 2-Mercaptoethanol. The average particle size of PbS nanoparticles synthesized in presence of 0.5 wt% 2-Mercaptoethanol observed from TEM image is 15 nm. SAED pattern shows all diffraction rings are indexed to cubic structure of PbS. The interplaner distance `d' observed from HRTEM image is equal to 1.3612 Å which corresponds to (420) plane.","PeriodicalId":13708,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials & Emerging Engineering Technologies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87705171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It turns out that when a zGND is attached to Ni-electrodes through S-linkers, the spin-polarized conductance exhibits oscillatory behavior with a maximum peak around θ ≈ 18°. A small change in the anisotropic spin polarization can thus cause a sudden jump in the device conductance. The two states of electronic conductance obtained by simply tuning the electrode magnetization may well serve as 1s and 0s to find potential utilities in designing spintronic logic circuits at the nanoscale.","PeriodicalId":13708,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials & Emerging Engineering Technologies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86123234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The composite were fabricated by stir casting techniques at atmospheric condition without the use of flux or protective inert gas atmosphere. The nano-particles were uniformly dispersed in stir method and the average grain sizes of composites in 40nm. The mechanical property of fabricated composite was calculated by using of mechanical testing method. The results show that presence of nano size Al2O3 particles better property values. This study is an attempt to investigate the effects of adding nano particles to aluminium metal matrix. Also it was found that the Al2O3 particles play a significant role in improving tensile value of alloying system. The optimum amount of reinforcement determined by evaluating the density and mechanical properties of composites. Hardness and impact tests were carried out in order to identify mechanical properties. The results shows that the composite containing 1.5vol.% reinforcement particles fabricated have homogeneous microstructure as well as improved mechanical properties.","PeriodicalId":13708,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials & Emerging Engineering Technologies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90315374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper shows that real trigonometric transforms can advantageously replace the Fourier Transform in optical communication systems, for all-optical signal processing. A low-complex, real trigonometric transform-based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing for Radio-over-Fiber system (RoF) is presented. The modulation/demodulation is performed by using the Fast Hartley Transform (FHT). The system is modeled and simulated using latest commercial software, Optisystem. This is an exquisite method that uses standard components of optical telecommunication. As a result this model can be used with different wireless communication systems such as high date rate Wireless LANs, Fiber-To-Home (FTTH), Wi-Max and the 4th generation cellular systems. It also find applications in inter connecting nano-photonic systems remotely over wireless systems.","PeriodicalId":13708,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials & Emerging Engineering Technologies","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90591974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
