Low level laser therapy(LLLT) has been shown to modulate biological processes and there are many studies that investigate the effect of LLLT, which is used in the treatment of cancers currently. Methods: Breast(MCF7) and colon(Caco 2) cells were cultured and cells were divided into eleven main groups. Cells were incubated with colloidal silver for 24 hrs. Colloidal silver and LLLT exposure separately and together performed on MCF7 and Caco 2 cell cultures. The effects of colloidal silver and LLLT were invastigated on all molecular pathways of apoptosis. Results: It was found that the levels of apoptosis in colloidal silver group were significantly increased in both cancer cells compared to control group. In both cancer cells, transient receptor protein vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channel stimulator Cpsin administration resulted in significantly increased apoptosis levels compared to the control group, in colloidal silver + LLLT group the apopitosis level significantly reduced compared to colloidal silver-only group.Conclusions: It has been shown that colloidal silver significantly increases apoptosis in breast and colon cancer cells, however LLLT administration decreases apoptosis in both wavelength and suppressed apoptotic effect of colloidal silver significantly on these cells.","PeriodicalId":13651,"journal":{"name":"Interciencia","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46947625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Çebi, Ilkay Gilanlioglu","doi":"10.59671/alfdo","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.59671/alfdo","url":null,"abstract":"The current English language curriculum in primary and secondary schools in Turkey has been framed by The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in an endeavour to bring in a more communication-oriented perspective on language education. This study aimed to evaluate the CEFR framed curriculum from the perspectives of teachers who apply it in the classroom. An exploratory sequential mixed method research design, which encompassed a 40-item questionnaire (100 participants), a 25-item semi-structured interview (6 secondary and 3 primary school teachers), and document analysis, was employed in primary and secondary schools in Sultanbeyli, Umraniye, and Besiktas districts of Istanbul. The results showed that lack of knowledge about the CEFR and the contextual factors such as overcrowded classrooms and limited class contact hours greatly affected the implementation phase of the curriculum. It was also revealed that there is a remarkable mismatch between the language education policy (communication-oriented) and the classroom practices (exam-oriented). The findings of this study implied that teachers need ongoing in-service training about the CEFR framed curriculum to enhance their understanding of the implementation of its principles in the classroom. The implications of the study, most notably the need for well-tailored in-service training, are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":13651,"journal":{"name":"Interciencia","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71124208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process relies heavily on two-phase flow, particularly in the case of seabed pipelines responsible for conveying oil and natural gas. In our study, the intricate dynamics of pressure fluctuations in horizontal seabed pipelines were comprehensively investigated through the use of simulation software. Nevertheless, the software employed had its limitations as it failed to account for economic considerations. To address this limitation, the integration of a genetic algorithm was undertaken, which encompassed constraints related to the initial investment, thereby contributing to the enhancement of cost-effectiveness in pressure drop calculations. Additionally, a novel parameter was introduced into the Baker model, leading to improvements in both technical efficiency and economic viability. It was observed that augmenting the weight of the initial investment constraint resulted in a reduction in the optimal pipeline diameter, following a third-degree curve. Furthermore, the research findings indicated that a 4% increase in water shear led to a 14.76% decrease in frictional pressure drop within vertical pipes and a 3.5% reduction in horizontal pipes. Conversely, as the gas-to-oil ratio was increased, frictional pressure drop surged by 116.87% in vertical pipes and 81.69% in horizontal pipes. This valuable information can be harnessed to optimize pipeline design and operations in the demanding underwater environments commonly encountered in these industries.","PeriodicalId":13651,"journal":{"name":"Interciencia","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135699602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A descriptive epidemiological survey was conducted from November 2021 to November 2022 in eastern Algeria to quantify the extent of this scourge and to evaluate the risk factors for reporting abortions using a questionnaire intended for 150 practising veterinarians randomly distributed in five wilayas of eastern Algeria. The statistical analysis of the different risk factors was carried out using a univariate and then multivariate logistic regression model. The results obtained showed that 83.3% of the veterinarians audited had had an abortion rate of more than 5% during the previous 12 months. In the multivariate logistic regression analysis, one risk factor and one protective factor were identified. Indeed, all the areas studied had a very high risk of bovine abortion cases: Batna (odds ratio [OR] = 24.53; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.39 - 278.66), Sétif (OR= 73.08; 95% CI: 4.37-669.68), Mila (OR= 245.22; CI: 18.51 - 2306.71) and Bordj Bou Arreridj (OR= 49.09; CI: 3.57-738.69). However, the summer season (OR= 0.23; 95% CI: 0.06 - 0.48) was considered a protective factor, designated as the period of least reporting of abortions by the audited veterinarians compared to winter and autumn.","PeriodicalId":13651,"journal":{"name":"Interciencia","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135699606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"The Effects of Learning Method, Motivation, and Self-Discipline on Students’ Retrospective Perceptions of Online Learning","authors":"Eyal Eckhaus, Nitza Davidovitch","doi":"10.59671/imvn3","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.59671/imvn3","url":null,"abstract":"This article examines, for the first time, the relationship between learning style, motivation, and self-discipline, as factors that affect tertiary students’ perceptions of online learning, from a retrospective perspective. The period between 2019 and 2022 was and remains one in which students are rethinking the components of teaching and learning. In addition, from the learners’ perspective, social, cultural, and technological changes to which they were subject, including substantial changes to learning environments and learning methods, heightened learners’ need to reconsider time planning. This study is based on 1,928 students enrolled in several academic institutions. We used a mixed-methods design for this exploratory research, incorporating qualitative and quantitative analysis, to develop the proposed Online Teaching Recommendations (SOTR) model. We used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for goodness-of-fit. Findings indicate that with respect to self-discipline, distractions and interruptions at home hinder students’ online learning, but they do not lower students’ assessments of the quality of online teaching. We may assume that students learn how to integrate online teaching in their everyday lives, and the short-term disadvantage may become a positive experience as students persist in their academic studies. Moreover, online teaching demands students’ self-discipline, which also has no effect on perceived teaching quality. However, students’ motivation declines following online teaching, s does self-discipline, which lowers perceived teaching quality. Students are concerned by the decline in social interactions with their class mates, caused by online learning, but this decline does not adversely affect their learning process. Findings of this study may contribute to improving teaching and learning for students who use digital tools for learning, especially in academic institutions where frontal instruction remains relevant and significant. Findings support the importance of the relationship between students’ learning methods, motivation, and self-discipline, which are factors that affect students’ perceptions of online learning. The question is whether academic instructors should enhance students’ motivation to improve their self-discipline skills or whether these factors are related exclusively to students.","PeriodicalId":13651,"journal":{"name":"Interciencia","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136302789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
