The analysis is carried out for the NEWEX project, which aims to develop and test an innovative extruder [1-2]. The collected knowledge about the materials used to date to produce screws of extrusion machines and methods of increasing their service life will allow to design a new extruder consisting of materials of the highest quality and durability. Currently the screws are usually manufactured from steels for nitriding, heat resisting steels, tool steels and stainless steels. The study provides an analysis of the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the most commonly used material types. Among those, the following types of steels for nitriding, in accordance with the standard PN-EN 10085:2003 can be distinguished: 34CrAlNi7-10, 34CrAlMo5-10, 31CrMoV9. The type of heat resisting steel used for screws of extrusion machines is 14CrMoV6-9 according to the standard PN-H-84024:1975 (withdrawn without replacement). The most commonly used tool steels are X37CrMoV5-1 and X153CrMoV12 according to the standard PN-EN ISO 4957:2018-09. Among the stainless steels of the standard PN-EN 10088-1:2014-12 the steels X90CrMoV18 and X39CrMo17-1 are used in the production of screws. The study also presents methods of increasing the durability and strength of the screws of extrusion machines, including surface treatment processes. These processes include: hardening, surfacing and coating, as well as thermochemical treatment in the form of: carburising, nitriding and sintering.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123361409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both, interface and material cracks are modelled within the damage theory introducing two independent damage parameters. The interface cracks appearing in an adhesive layer of a contact zone between structural components consider cohesive zone models with general stress-strain relationships implemented in an energetic formulation. Accordingly, the fracture of bulk domains also includes variational consideration and leads to phase-field damage which causes a very narrow band of defected material constituting the actual crack. The proposed computational approach has a variational form, the solution being approximated by a time stepping procedure, a finite element code, and quadratic programming algorithms.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115130128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three construction solutions were introduced, differing in the construction parameters of the screw. The scope of the research included the numerical strength-thermal analysis of the introduced construction solutions of the screw. The analysis was conducted using the finite element method. Numerical calculations were a thermally coupled FEM analysis, posing a geometrically and thermally nonlinear problem. The obtained results confirmed the sufficient strength of the structure of the screw, subjected to both the pressure caused by the transport of polymer granules as well as the temperature generated by the friction of the granules on the surface of the screw. The trends in the field of production are dramatically changing due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and companies have to manage production costs very thoroughly to increase their competitiveness. The aim of this paper is a cost evaluation of automated manufacturing systems, mainly considering the impact of personnel costs on costs of production. It also includes a case study with calculation performed on a full cost basis. The outcome should demonstrate the difference in production costs of before mentioned units and prove whether the personnel costs of automated production systems do have a significant impact on production costs.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127380622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There were tested two welding wires - Thermanit 625 and Thermanit X, deposited on X15CrNiSi20-12 tool steel using cold metal transfer (CTM) welding in protective atmosphere of Ar. Two important properties of welded clads were tested - resistance of welds against dissolution in molten aluminum alloy AlSi8Cu3 and wear resistance of welds. Resistance of welds against dissolution were assessed by exposition of welded clads in aluminum melt for 120 and 300 minutes. The EDX semiquantitative microanalyses of element distribution were performed at the welding-melt interface, also build-ups were observed on the surface of welded clads. Wear resistance of the welded clads was tested using pin-on-disk test at room temperature. Results were compared to reference material - base tool steel X15CrNiSi20-12.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"162 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115549293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hole flanging is a common sheet forming operation to produce structural sheet metal components. Flanges are used for appearance, rigidity, hidden joints, and strengthening of the edge of sheet metal parts. Trial-end-error is the most common approach for tooling and process design in flanging operations. This paper presents some experimental results of hole-flanging process performed on flat deep drawing steel sheets with circular hole drilled or punched in the centre of blank. Three punches of different geometry i.e. cylindrical, hemispherical and conical were used in this experiment. The effect of both the punch geometry and material mechanical parameters (especially strain hardening and plastic anisotropy) on the limit expansion of the hole, limit strain dependence on hole performing technology as well as sheet thickness distribution along collar formed was determined.","PeriodicalId":135905,"journal":{"name":"Acta Mechanica Slovaca","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129981778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
