There are two primary types of NOMA: code domain and power domain. This study focuses on the power domain. The benefit of power-domain NOMA depends on how the users are clustered and the power levels of users in the same cluster. This study aims to propose the model using the two-user pairing method and three users together, combining the threshold signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) levels to decide on two or three pairings to ensure the quality of service (QoS) for users. Besides, this model consider the optimal power allocation (PA) for each user in the cluster to the maximum sum rate with QoS constraints. Simulation results show the benefits of optimizing user clustering and power allocation with QoS constraints.","PeriodicalId":135827,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129424269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, transmitted signals are normally distorted by many environmental factors when propagating through underwater communication channels. Thus, the original pilots seem to be not enough to recover “good” CIR for channel estimation in underwater acoustic OFDM (UWA-OFDM) systems. Recent studies have developed data pilot-aided (DPA) strategies, known as STA and CDP, for time-variant channels like vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. These methods work on the assumption of high cross-correlation of CR between two adjacent data symbols and the support of two long training symbols in the IEEE 802.11p packet. These conditions are not provided in the UWA-OFDM systems, which leads to be infeasible to apply existing DPA strategies. Therefore, this paper introduces a novel pilot enrichment (PE) method for improving the performance of the channel estimation in UWA-OFDM systems. The core idea is that some data subcarriers are extracted under a condition related to constellation mapping for creating supplementary “pilots”. The “pilots” are used together with the original pilots for channel estimation. Our method is evaluated in comparison to the MMSE estimation on various modulation schemes. The experimental results illustrate that the PE estimator can perform better than the MMSE estimator in terms of bit error rate (BER), especially on medium and high SNR values.","PeriodicalId":135827,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130148121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, descrambled sequence is divided into two halves and they are sequentially decoded. To obtain information bits and transmission state, this paper only compares decoding results of two halves with the full sequence instead of considering the additional result between two halves. In other words, discontinuous transmission (DTX) judgment becomes less strictly in order to reduce acknowledge missed detection probability (PACK). As a result, decoding process is not only simpler but it also offers significant improvement in terms of PACK. On the other hand, DTX to ACK probability (PDTX) is steadily managed within the allowable threshold although it is slightly increased due to the trade-off relationship with PACK. Feasibility of the proposed method is experimentally validated with different receiving antenna numbers under practical condition. The acquired results shows that the proposed approach is suitable for practical applications since it fully complies with all technical requirements by the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP).","PeriodicalId":135827,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125891253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In an NFV-enabled Internet-of-Things (NIoT) system, several IoT functions implemented as Virtual Network Functions can be linked as a service function chain to build a customized IoT service quickly. It is important for an IoT service to be able to recover from a failure. However, the supply of a resilient IoT service in an NIoT system is challenging due to the coordination of distributed VNF instances. In this paper, we formulate the problem of resilient service coordination in an NIoT system as a mixed integer linear programming model, namely RSOd. The model offers the optimal resource allocation for minimizing service disruption when a failure happens at a node of an NIoT system. We also develop two modified versions of RSOd for different use cases required by an IoT provider. The evaluation results show that RSOd and its modified versions produce the optimal resource allocation in significantly reduced time compared to previous work. The results suggest that an IoT provider should carefully select an appropriate resource allocation strategy as it has to pay a resource cost to minimize the service disruption.","PeriodicalId":135827,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125026869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, BNNs are like other neural networks and exhibit certain linear properties and are vulnerable to adversarial attacks. This work evaluates the robustness of BNNs under Projected Gradient Descent (PGD) - one of the most powerful iterative adversarial attacks, on BNN models and analyzes the effectiveness of corresponding defense methods. Our extensive simulation shows that the network almost malfunction when performing recognition tasks when tested with PGD samples without adversarial training. On the other hand, adversarial training could significantly improve robustness for both BNNs and Deep learning neural networks (DNNs), though strong PGD attacks could still be challenging. Therefore, adversarial attacks are a real threat, and more effective adversarial defense methods and innovative network architectures may be required for practical applications.","PeriodicalId":135827,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125158250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed algorithm is capable of finding K multiple optimum paths satisfying multiple Quality of Service (QoS) metrics required for a particular mobile application. Relevant QoS parameter values obtained from the data network are projected to road network links. A modified A * based algorithm is developed to find the navigation route that has the minimum travel distance which satisfies the QoS constraints required by the user.
