This shows that high-tech businesses are taxed differently from other businesses. The study aims to analyse how the Chinese government's ownership affects the tax avoidance of high-tech enterprises. The analysis's findings are listed below. First off, high-tech corporations engaged in more tax avoidance than other businesses did before to the 2008 tax rate cut. This means that high-tech companies, with large effect of the tax rate cut, have more incentives to minimize their tax burden in the year immediately preceding the tax rate cut compared to general companies. Second, the higher the Chinese government's ownership ratio, the lower the level of tax avoidance. Third, the higher the ownership is, the higher the tax avoidance behaviour becomes in the year just before the tax rate cut. This study provides policy implications pertaining to the tax avoidance behaviour of companies in the case of tax rate cuts and experimental situations in which a differential tax exists.","PeriodicalId":134894,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Accounting","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131201504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is considered that the public sector's human resources are its most valuable asset, it is deemed essential to motivate employees based on their unique qualities. Hence, the purpose of this work is to justify the factors that contribute to the commitment and improvement of the employees’ performance occupied in the Greek Forest Services of Macedonia-Thrace Region. All employees of the aforementioned services were asked to complete a questionnaire with the intention of learning more about what drives them, which is crucial information for academics and policymakers alike. From the results of the research emerged, that the most important motivational factor is the employees’ need to work for the common good and be part of an important vision. The ability to take initiative and participate in decision-making, the recognition of employee’s contributions and feedback on the results of their work, the recognition of their needs as parents and as individuals, and the fact that their department's management and their co-workers value them as people are all significant motivating factors. The aforementioned findings provide Greek policymakers with an effective instrument for enhancing the performance of public services.","PeriodicalId":134894,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Accounting","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125364464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A quantitative approach was adopted for seventy non-financial listed corporations from seven markets, including Brazil, Egypt, India, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Turkey. The data was collected annually from 2012 to 2021. After removing the outliers using winnowing at 1% and testing the stationary data, the study discovered that ownership structure characteristics and Common Stock’s Liquidity, under the control variables, determine the corporation's value in emerging markets by 69.35% according to panel data analysis but by 69.1% according to hierarchical regression analysis. Finally, the study found that Common Stock Liquidity played a significant mediating role, resulting in an average increase of 47.7% in interpreting the change in the value of the corporation in emerging markets. Therefore, common stock liquidity has a significant impact on the value of a corporation and should not be overlooked by top management and investors when making investment decisions in the stock exchange. Thus, common stock liquidity is one of the factors that create value for shareholders in emerging markets.","PeriodicalId":134894,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Accounting","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128918478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study considered the most popular measurements for financial banking performances, namely Return on Equity (ROE), Return on Assets (ROA), and dividend yield (DY) as dependent variables. Additionally, the factors of independent variables were measured by quick liquidity ratio, investments and cash to the summation of total deposits, shareholders’ equity to facilities of credit, and equity ratios. The findings showed a positive and significant influence and impact of investments and currency to the summation of aggregate deposits and equity ratio on return on equity, and a negative significant impact of shareholders’ equity on return on equity. However, there was a negative but not significant influence of liquidity (quick) ratio on ROE. Furthermore, the findings indicated a positive and significant impact of investments and currency (cash) to aggregate banking deposits and equity ratio on return on assets, but there was a negative but not significant impact for liquidity quick ratio and shareholders’ equity to credit facilities on return on assets. The liquidity (quick) ratio had a significant and negative impact on dividend yield. Although there was a positive but insignificant impact of investments and cash to the summation of total deposits and equity ratios on dividend yield, there was a greater negative and insignificant impact from shareholders’ equity to credit facilities on dividend yield.","PeriodicalId":134894,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Accounting","volume":"277 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116559634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to analyze whether e-banking moderates the relationship between customer value and corporate reputation and examine the effect of service quality, product quality, and brand equity on customer value. The analysis uses a structural equation model of 280 respondents chosen using a targeted sampling method, based on a population of BNI (Bank Negara Indonesia) banking clients in the town of Kediri. The results show that e-banking is a moderating factor and makes a positive contribution to the relationship between client value and the company's reputation. Thus, the usage of the online banking network will increase the reputation of the company. The research also proves that service quality and brand equity make a positive contribution to customer value. The study draws data from five rounds of surveys conducted between 1982/83 and 2012. TFP growth is decomposed into efficiency growth, scale component, and technological progress to identify the sources of growth. The technical efficiency of the manufacturing industries in Bangladesh averages 80%, with export-oriented industries exhibiting higher efficiency than non-export industries. Small-scale industries show higher TFP growth than medium- and large-scale industries. The study estimates the TFP growth in Bangladesh's manufacturing sector at approximately 5.5% during the review period, with technological progress being a key driver of growth. The results also indicate TFP growth convergence over time among the manufacturing industries in Bangladesh. The study highlights the potential for productivity improvement and income growth in Bangladesh's manufacturing sector. Further investigation into TFP and efficiency is necessary to achieve this potential fully. The study's findings suggest that policymakers in Bangladesh should focus on promoting technological progress and improving the efficiency of manufacturing industries, especially in medium- and large-scale industries. Moreover, the government should develop policies that support export-oriented industries to improve their efficiency.","PeriodicalId":134894,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Accounting","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115639317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It used 209 startup companies recorded in the database of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Republic of Indonesia. The sample consists of startups less than ten years old and experiencing a period of growth. The partial least squares SEM (PLS-SEM) is used to estimate cause-effect relationship models. The finding shows that the management control system positively contributes to the company's performance. The moderation analysis concludes that business intelligence is not able to moderate the relationship between management control systems and company performance. This finding supports the contingency theory, which claims the need to evaluate conditional factors in creating effective management control. Also, the theory emphasizes the alignment between management control and company performance to support performance improvement. This research provides practical implications for startups about the importance of creating a more contextual management control system to improve company performance.","PeriodicalId":134894,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Accounting","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123134217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Realizing its implication for the financial sector, researchers explored the possible impact of demonetization on the performance, profitability, and efficiency of Indian banks. However, these studies overlooked the non-performing assets, which are a serious concern for banks and have emerged as an undesirable output of the credit creation process. To fill this research gap, the present study investigates the impact of demonetization on the efficiency of domestic banks with due consideration of such undesirable assets. To get bias-free efficiency estimates, bootstrapped data envelopment analysis has been done. The study period has been divided into two sub-periods viz., pre-demonetization period and post-demonetization period. The results indicate that the efficiency of the majority of banks remains unaffected by demonetization. Only 13 banks have got a significant impact, out of which eight banks exhibited better efficiency while five banks were found to be less efficient during the post-demonetization period. However, these changes have been contributed to bank-specific factors, and demonetization cannot be accounted for the same. The findings are useful to banks, regulators, and policymakers.","PeriodicalId":134894,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Accounting","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121564898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study applies the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) and Phillips Perron (PP) unit root tests to verify the existence of stationarity and indicates that the relevant variables are integrated. The analysis is based on error correction models and cointegrated VAR-models. The empirical findings indicate that there is no evidence to support the existence of strong political coordination in the euro area. Additionally, the study supports the idea that monetary policy has a more stabilizing influence on economic activity than budget policy. An important policy implication resulting from this study is that the fiscal rule generates a divergent dynamic of the public debt. The results suggest the Keynesian effects of macroeconomic policies in the eurozone and conclude that there is a sort of complementarity between monetary and fiscal policies in some euro area countries. This means that a restrictive monetary policy (higher interest rates, interest) is always accompanied by a restrictive fiscal policy (higher taxes or lower public spending) and vice versa. Concerning the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) techniques, the findings demonstrate that the debt has a positive effect on the budget deficit, which ultimately results in behavior that affects the debt's stability.","PeriodicalId":134894,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Accounting","volume":"2015 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128077512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A sample of twenty-seven (27) commercial banks was obtained from three (3) regions of Sub-Saharan Africa (Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya). The dependent variable is the firm value (Tobin’s Q), while the independent variable is enterprise risk management (measured using enterprise risk management size, independence, and disclosures). Secondary data were obtained from the annual reports and accounts of the sampled banks in Sub-Saharan Africa from 2012-2021. Data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, median, standard deviation, kurtosis, skewness, and Pearson correlation), diagnostic statistics (variance inflation factor, heteroscedasticity, Ramsey regression specification-error test, Cameron and Trivedi’s decomposition of IM-test,) and inferential statistics (principal component analysis, fixed and random effects panel data regression). The fixed and random effects panel data regression results indicated that while enterprise risk management independence (t= 4.63; prob. = 0.000) and enterprise risk management disclosure (t= 2.68; prob. = 0.008) positively and significantly affect firm value, enterprise risk management size (t=-0.04; prob. = 0.967) insignificantly and negatively affects firm value in Sub-Saharan Africa. Among other recommendations, it was suggested that banks need to promote ERM practices as well as ensure risk compliance among banks in Sub-Saharan Africa. Additionally, banks should increase their level of independence of the risk committee while at the same time increasing their level of enterprise risk management practices in the region.","PeriodicalId":134894,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Accounting","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126777678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
