Case Summary Case Summary: This is a case report of a nulliparous woman aged 61 years, having PMB due to simple endometrial hyperplasia (EH) after 10 years of menopause. She was treated with individualised homoeopathic medicines. Trans-abdominal USG of lower abdomen showed complete resolution of hyperplastic endometrium from hyperplastic state (14 mm) to normal thickness (4 mm) after treatment for 11 months. Possible causal attribution of changes was assessed by Modified Naranjo Criteria (Score-10 out of 13). Follow-up over a period of 1 year of treatment, reflected no recurrence of symptoms, thus demonstrating a positive role of individualised homoeopathic treatment in simple EH having PMB.","PeriodicalId":13469,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43662478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Apart from its growing prevalence, it is also one of the most resistant strains against antifungal medication. Homoeopathy is an alternative to allopathic medication and has shown inhibiting fungal growth. Objective: This study was to determine effectiveness of homoeopathic tinctures and medications versus allopathic Ketoconazole in growth inhibition and fungicidal properties against in vitro cultures of C. albicans. Materials and Methods: Efficacy of five antifungal agents were tested for inhibiting fungal growth and their fungicidal properties on cultured C. albicans the agents tested were Eucalyptus globulus and Ocimum basilicum in essential oil form, Benzoicum Acidum 30C and Kali Iodatum 30C in tablet form, and compared with the effect of 100 mg Ketoconazole in powder form. Results: In the growth inhibition trial, O. basilicum had the largest zone of inhibition followed by E. globulus following. The ketoconazole group showed similar inhibition rates with Benzoicum Acidum 30C, and Kali Iodatum 30C showed more inhibition than Ketoconazole. The present data suggests that no individual agent had an effective fungicidal effect on C. albicans, only causing a minimal reduction on the surface in the fungal colony. Conclusion: Results indicate that essential oils O. basilicum and E. globulus were most effective in growth inhibition. However, both essential oil and homoeopathic treatment had limited fungicidal properties. This concludes that homoeopathic alternatives can be effective in preventing fungal infections but may be less effective in treatment of a fully developed C. albicans infection.","PeriodicalId":13469,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42112073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clinical trials of phobic disorders in conventional treatment are not yet substantiated with too many positive results. Homoeopathy is a well established therapeutic system with potential relevance to psychiatry but has a limited database and its effectiveness in certain disorders such as Phobic disorders is yet to be explored. Cases of phobias, which have been cured in routine homoeopathic practice remain anecdotal. This case series generates preliminary evidence for the usefulness of homoeopathy in phobic disorders. Well planned research studies with calculated sample size and suitable study designs are necessary to corroborate the evidence. Cases Summary: A series of five case reports of PAD which were treated with homoeopathic medicines in OPD of National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health, Kottayam are presented here. Cases which were assessed for severity using American Psychiatric Association (APA) Severity Measures for Phobia Adult at baseline and with a 1-year follow-up at periodic monthly interval are reported. Their baseline and monthly scores were analyzed, and results are summarized. The mean APA Phobia Severity measure value of the five cases i.e., 35 at baseline reduced to 0 (Asymptomatic) in an average duration of 8 months. The improvement continued steadily up to 12 months. Results point out preliminary evidence for utility of Homoeopathy in Phobic disorders and stimulate for further research in this area.","PeriodicalId":13469,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43789738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A stone more than 0.5 cm diameter can cause painful ureteric obstruction. Stones of size more than 0.7 cm almost always require surgical intervention, as believed in conventional medicine. Repeated surgical interventions may remove obstruction but may not be a solution for altering the tendency for renal stone formation. Homoeopathy, an alternative system of medicine can offer holistic approach in treating such cases non-invasively. Case Summary: A 32 years old male patient presented with continuous severe pain in the left renal region for 15 days. A 1.0 × 0.4 cm calculus was found in the left distal ureter causing mild left-sided hydronephrosis as per computed tomography (CT) scan. According to symptoms similarity, homoeopathic medicine Tabacum was prescribed followed by Belladonna. Subsequently, the stone was expelled through urine. The pain was completely relieved, and the CT scan report showed no abnormality. On the basis of the patient’s constitution Calcarea carbonica was prescribed to remove the tendency to form the renal stone. This case of renal stone suggests that homoeopathic medicine can enable expulsion of a relatively bigger renal stones and check recurrence. However, more conclusive researches are required.","PeriodicalId":13469,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46706136","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
