Designing and implementing \"enterprise-strength\" pervasive applications today is a challenging task, but enterprise application has practical usage by supporting numerous clients and enterprise technology basically supports web as an application layer like JSP pages. Through Web, every client can access the same application regardless of the devices such as mobile device (PDA). In line with this concept we suggest a scenario which can be occurred in usual life assuming that this system is practically used in hospital domain. We implement healthcare application which is based on J2EE platform and using Web standard technology. By using J2EE platform and XML, we can support mobility, scalability and integrity.","PeriodicalId":133842,"journal":{"name":"16th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence--Workshops (ICAT'06)","volume":"23 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126153886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two aspects of the human daily behavior model are particularly discussed which are pedestrian path model and human daily behavior model. In a case study of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), an individual based model in a virtual community is designed, and a multi-agent approach is used to implement the simulation of SARS transmission in the community. A prototype system for crowd simulation in virtual environments is designed and developed with Java, Java 3D and SWARM, and an experiment of SARS transmission in the virtual community is conducted for exploring the characteristics of SARS transmission which may help evaluate the effectiveness of control measures of disease spread","PeriodicalId":133842,"journal":{"name":"16th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence--Workshops (ICAT'06)","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133447226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of SNE modeling is not only to reconstruct real environment elements such as terrain in virtual environment, but also to construct multi-level interactive channels between human and virtual environment. In this paper, a prototype called geo-objects simulation and visual editing system (GSVES) is developed, in which a technological approach for integrating modeling, editing and analyzing environment elements is explored. Further more, this paper goes into a description of the different levels of interactive behavior between human and virtual environment as follows: data level, analysis level and collaboration level, from low to high. We proposed the real environment elements should be organized sequentially in the context of SNE, which lays the foundation for interaction between human and virtual environment harmoniously finally","PeriodicalId":133842,"journal":{"name":"16th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence--Workshops (ICAT'06)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115290551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both the strengths and weaknesses of two algorithms are discussed. Some possible improvements to the two algorithms are also suggested and studied. A benchmark for evaluating algorithms is described. Direct numerical comparisons among the considered partitioning algorithms are then conducted using this benchmark. In addition, we think different algorithms as vertices of a undirected weighted graph. Choosing an algorithm from different partition methods is a recursive graph partitioning problem when dealing with a certain FEM computations. Choosing algorithm use heuristic algorithm in this paper. The initial value is critical at the heuristic algorithm. Wrong initial value leads to long execution time.","PeriodicalId":133842,"journal":{"name":"16th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence--Workshops (ICAT'06)","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123568867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this method, human face is simulated by using a piece of NURBS surface, and the model points of NURBS surface are affected by MPEG-4 feature points. The method combines the superiorities of NURBS and MPEG-4. For individual object, by means of capture of the MPEG-4 feature points and a mapping relationship, individual facial model is constructed. In some non-continuous region such as eyes, a partition algorithm of NURBS surface is implemented and some necessary aided models such as eyeballs are constructed. Due to the low data quantity of MPEG-4 and the local support property of NURBS, the model can be extended to dynamic modeling of facial expressions.
