Based on data from Basic Health Research (2018) the prevalence of joint disease in Indonesia is recorded at around 7.3% and osteoarthritis (OA) or arthritis is a common joint disease. As the two main non-surgical methods, physiotherapy and acu­puncture have been shown to be safe and effective in the therapy of osteoarthritis. Subjects and Method: This was a syste­matic review and meta-analysis study. The articles used in this study were obtained from several databases including PubMed, Google Scholar, and Springer Link. The articles used in this study were those published from 2000-2020. The article search was carried out by considering the eligibility criteria defined using the PICO model. The popu­lation in the study were patients with osteo­arthritis complaints with intervention in the form of acupuncture therapy, the comparison was the sham acupuncture outcome in the form of pain reduction. The keywords for finding articles are as follows: \"Acupuncture\" OR \"Osteoarthritis\" AND \"Randomized Con­trolled Trials\". The articles included in this study are full text articles with an obser­vational study design. Articles were collected using PRISMA flow diagrams. Articles were analyzed using the Review Manager 5.3 application. Results: A total of 9 articles were reviewed in this study. A meta-analysis of 9 rando­mized control trials showed that acupuncture therapy reduced pain in osteoarthritis pati­ents (SMD= -0. 49; 95% CI= -0.88 to -0.10; p= 0.01). Conclusion: Acupuncture therapy reduces pain in osteoarthritis patients. {"title":"Bilateral Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation in Female Patient Based on Computed Tomography Imaging: A Rare Case Report","authors":"Sony Sutrisno","doi":"10.26911/theijmed.2021.06.04.05","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.26911/theijmed.2021.06.04.05","url":null,"abstract":"Background: Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) is an extremely rare vascular anomaly due to a direct connection between the pulmonary artery and pulmonary vein, potentially causing irreversible damages to the systemic circulation. This condition requires a prompt diagnostic approach to ensure early diagnosis and treatment. Case Report: A 53-year-old Indonesian female was referred to our department with unexplained dyspnoea and cyanosis. Physical examination revealed low oxygen saturation and remarkable finding on pulmonary auscultation. Further investigation revealed the findings suggesting PAVM based on contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography (CT) scan, with multiple nidus on bilateral lungs with feeder arteries from the pulmonary artery and draining veins in the pulmonary vein. {"title":"Effectiveness of Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn for Obesity Treatment: A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials","authors":"S. Anggraini, N. T. (H. sabdariffa), commonly known as Rosella plants in Indonesia, has had various uses in the food and beverage industry and traditional medicines for hundreds of years. The main compounds of H. sabdariffa have been stated to have anti-obesity effects through its biologically active compounds. This review systematically evaluates the evidence from human randomized clinical trials on the effects of H. sabdariffa extract in obesity, including decreased bodyweight, normalizing the blood lipid profile, and modulating appetite-related biomarkers. Subjects and Method: This review is based on the patient, intervention, comparison, and outcome (PICO) procedure, with the patient is people with obesity, the intervention is the administration of H. sabdariffa extract compared to control that given placebo, and the outcomes are reduced body weight and fat accumulation, normalize blood lipid profiles, and regulate biomarkers related to appetite. Articles used are limited to the publication year between 2013 and 2021. Search is done through PubMed, ScienceDirect, Wiley Online Library, Scopus, and Google Scholar with the keywords “hibiscus sabdariffa and obesity”, “hibiscus sabdariffa and lipogenesis”, “hibiscus sabdariffa and energy metabolism”, and “hibiscus sabdariffa and appetite”. Results: The search resulted in 10 studies involving 453 subjects. We proved several significant effects of H. sabdariffa extract on obese subjects. Administration of H. sabdariffa extract for several doses and several days can improve anthropometry measurement, fat accumulation, increased satiety sensation, while the appetite sensation mainly for fatty, sweet, and salty foods was decreased. This condition occurs because the vertebral root is compressed for a long time in the use of activities. In the long term, the pain can even radiate to both shoulders and even to the arms of the arch, this situation will result in abnormal and rapid fatigue. According to studies conducted by researchers, this situation may be prevented by giving a special cervical collar design to Tafidz Ouran students. In this study, it will be investigated how effective the special collar model is to overcome the problems/prevention of cervical syndrome for Tafidz Ouran students in Karanganyar. The purpose of this study was to determine how effective a special cervical collar design is to reduce pain in cervical syndrome. Subjects and Method: This research is a Randomized Controll Trial (RCT) where in this study before being randomized in determining the control and treatment groups, matching was done first. In the control group in this study were students who used regular collars (collars sold in the market) and in the intervention group were given special collars. The sample in this study was the students of the Tahfidz boarding school in the Karanganyar area as many as 160 students who experienced cervical syndrome. Each group in this study amounted to 80 students. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. The variables in this study, the dependent variable is the cervical syndrome condition of the Tafidz Quran students and the use of a special cervical collar model as the independent variable. Analysis of the data using the Independent samples t test if the data is normal, and using the Mann Whitney test if the data is not normal. Results: After the intervention, it was shown that pain in the special cervical collar group (mean = 2.51; SD = 0.50) was lower than that in the regular collar group (mean = 5.50; SD = 0.59) and was statistically significant (p value = 0.000).
