The ARAMIS receiver performances are observed in terms of acquisitions, tracking, ionospheric correction techniques (Klobuchar and grid-based GIVD model), and positioning errors results. Implementation of the GIVD model is validated by comparing the results of the Accord receiver. From the comparative analysis of positioning error, we observed that NavIC + GPS gave better results than NavIC and GPS alone.","PeriodicalId":13252,"journal":{"name":"IETE Technical Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"663 - 670"},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47172434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are employed to utilize the maximum penetration of renewable energy sources (RES). Microgrid also has advantages such as reduction of transmission losses and costs pertaining to such losses. In this research, economic dispatch, emission dispatch, combined economic emission dispatch (CEED) based on fractional programming (FP), and environment-constrained economic dispatch (ECED) were assessed. An MG system for three distinct scenarios is studied. A novel, robust, and powerful swarm-intelligence hybrid algorithm, created by amalgamating the features of the conventional gray-wolf optimizer (GWO), sine-cosine algorithm (SCA), and crow search algorithm (CSA), is implemented as the optimization tool for the study. A significant reduction in generation costs of about 4.50-9.75% was achieved throughout the study when the time-of-usage (TOU) electricity market pricing strategy was used instead of the fixed pricing strategy. Furthermore, the paper also dealt with the Demand Side Management (DSM) to facilitate the generation cost by managing the controllable load demand. The generation cost decreased by a notable amount when ECED was evaluated with a 15% and 20% DSM-based revised load curve for the MG system.","PeriodicalId":13252,"journal":{"name":"IETE Technical Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"653 - 662"},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45941666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PUFs are finding applications in device authentication, identification, secret key generation,key storage and also as random number generators. In this paper the main focus is to give a comparative analysis between the Delay-based and Memory-based PUFs. Several Delay-based and Memory-based PUF architectures have been proposed in the literature. The idea here is to compare these architectures in terms of performance metrics of PUF which include Uniqueness, Reliability and also in terms of conventional VLSI metrics which include area, power and delay. The results after comparison show that Memory-based PUF architectures give better performance in terms of uniqueness which is ≈ 50% (ideal 50%) but reduced reliability as compared to Delay-based PUF. Also, area overhead is less in Memory-based PUF as compared to Delay-based PUF as it avoids the need of adding extra circuitry.","PeriodicalId":13252,"journal":{"name":"IETE Technical Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"641 - 652"},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48203065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The antenna geometry consists of a 45° rotated square slot and a circular parasitic patch situated at its center. In addition, the slot consists of four rectangular notches at every corner. It brings close the resonances of both slot and circular patches and enhances bandwidth. The antenna achieved the measured impedance bandwidth of 111.7% from 2.24 to 7.91 GHz, with almost stable pattern. Furthermore, a comprehensive parametric study has been carried out to prepare a set of guidelines to scale up or down the antenna for a specified impedance bandwidth (111.7%) between different frequency ranges. The frequency scaling feature has been verified by simulating a set of antennas for different frequency bands. The result demonstrates that all antennas under test yield almost equal impedance bandwidth.","PeriodicalId":13252,"journal":{"name":"IETE Technical Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"632 - 640"},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46738656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, Electron Difference density, adsorption length and energy, band structure (B.S.), charge transfer, and density of states (DOS) are detailed and studied in depth. The adsorption energy of SF6 decomposition gases i.e. H2S, SO2, SOF2, SO2F2 on Ni@WS2 are found to be −1.3, −1.46, −1.64, and −1.8 eV, respectively, which is superior as compared to other materials. It has been observed through the band structure analysis that after adsorption of SF6 decomposed gas on Ni modified WS2 bandgap reduces, and as a result, conductivity also changes. The dip in bandgap after adsorption of H2S, SO2, SOF2, and SO2F2 on Ni decorated WS2 can be arranged as Ni@WS2@SO2F2> Ni@WS2@SOF2> Ni@WS2@H2S > Ni@WS2@SO2. In brief, these investigations are very efficacious for detecting H2S, SO2, SOF2, and SO2F2 gases, by Ni-doped WS2 monolayer.","PeriodicalId":13252,"journal":{"name":"IETE Technical Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"621 - 631"},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44345941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reduced switch CCS-MLI is controlled with a low frequency selective-harmonic-elimination pulse-width-modulation (SHE-PWM) strategy. The switching angles are synthesized by solving SHE equations utilizing the proposed modified artificial-neural-network (ANN) like architecture. The ANN can solve multiple transcendental equations starting from random initial guess points and without any initial data. This adds a significant improvement to the existing techniques that suffer severely with an increased number of SHE equations to be solved. To verify these unique features of the modified ANN, a CCS-MLI is realized with a higher number of levels. The enhanced performance and reasonable convergence rate of the ANN validate the suitability of the proposed control. Furthermore, CCS-MLI is simulated for resistive-inductive load considering THD as a performance parameter. The power quality improvement of the proposed inverter is shown for different modulation index (MI) and significantly low THD is reported for both “9” and 13-level case. Experimental results of a hardware prototype are also illustrated. Furthermore, the proposed system is implemented as a central inverter of standalone PV system to test its practical feasibility.","PeriodicalId":13252,"journal":{"name":"IETE Technical Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"591 - 607"},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45634914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gate charge optimized reduced-surface-field (RESURF) DeNMOS structures using surface-implant (P-Top) and split-gate (SG_NonSTI) have been compared with conventional DeNMOS (C_DeNMOS) to investigate the dynamics of parasitic BJT trigger and subsequent space charge modulation (SCM) under high current conditions. Comparative AC analysis at a different gate and drain bias shows quasi-saturation peaks responsible for space charge modulation under high current conditions in DeMOS devices. The transient analysis investigates the isothermal unclamped inductive switching (UIS) and reverse recovery behavior. The parasitic gate capacitances Cgg and Cgd are reduced in both P-Top and SG_NonSTI. With the lowest turn-off delay under very high current conditions in UIS simulations, SG_NonSTI shows the best switching reliability, while P-Top shows the best reverse recovery and transient switching delay performance. In addition, we have shown the application of proposed DeNMOS devices in designing a high-frequency CMOS level shifter circuit. Compared to C_DeNMOS, the highest operating frequency has increased for P-Top and SG_NonSTI DeNMOS structures by 40% and 35%, respectively.","PeriodicalId":13252,"journal":{"name":"IETE Technical Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"611 - 620"},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44785497","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, solar power’s dependency on environmental factors adds uncertainty to energy production. In such a scenario, solar power forecasting provides an edge to mitigate this uncertainty and improves overall system stability. Recently, machine learning (ML) models have been extensively deployed for designing and forecasting solar power. However, data pre-processing, forecast horizon, and performance evaluation of ML algorithms have to be carefully evaluated to find an accurate model. This paper provides an empirical comparison of different generation ML models for solar power forecasting, which can help understand future research on which method to adopt, depending on the ML model’s strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, an effective forecasting method is designated in aspects such as performance errors, convergence time, and computational complexity. So, this work rates different ML models on error performance metrics and convergence time. Moreover, cross-fold validations and hyperparameter are also examined for the top five performing models for a comprehensive evaluation and to give more intuitive and calibrated insight into various stakeholders working in the solar power plant modeling field.","PeriodicalId":13252,"journal":{"name":"IETE Technical Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"558 - 573"},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45352972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increasing trends of automation in domestic loads and smart homes have increased the penetration of DC loads at the distribution level. Hence, the development of a low- or medium-voltage DC microgrid seems the need of the hour to match this changing scenario. Another point is that the various distributed generation (DG) sources like PV, batteries, fuel cells, etc., also provide energy in DC form. Hence, integrating these sources into the DC system also becomes convenient as the power conversion at each point of connection will no longer be needed. But, due to the lack of universally accepted standards and technological advancements, the implementation of DC microgrids is still limited to very small-scale usage. The unavailability of an efficient and reliable protection system is one such issue that is hindering the implementation of DC microgrids on a larger scale. Therefore, a thorough examination of the several DC microgrid protection difficulties and challenges is necessary. Thus the purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the protection challenges, and the currently available protection schemes for DC microgrids and to highlight the gaps for future research to enable the development of a more reliable and efficient protection system.","PeriodicalId":13252,"journal":{"name":"IETE Technical Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"574 - 590"},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42821528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
