This dependence is understood as a change in the properties of bulk products, such as internal friction and the angle of repose, in the direction of decreasing, providing a decrease in the angle of lift of the body. One of the most problematic areas is the lack of objective information on the dependence of the required lifting angles of the dump truck body when unloading fine-grained crop products when exposed to vibrations. There is also insufficient information on the dependence of these angles on vibration frequency for each of the products. In the course of the study, an experimental method was used to determine the angles of natural bevel for different crops without and under the influence of vibrations of different frequencies on the reference area. The proposed development makes it possible to quantitatively assess the degree of influence of vibrations, their frequencies and time of impact on the frictional properties of bulk crop products. The degree of reduction of internal friction in these products and the maximum angles of lifting the body required for its unloading were experimentally determined, and numerical data were obtained on their reduction under the influence of vibrations. The results obtained allow to consider it an effective tool for obtaining objective information about the effect of vibrations on the characteristics of internal friction of bulk crop products. This made it possible to determine the degree of influence of the lift angle of the dump truck body during unloading and to reduce energy costs. In contrast to the existing ones, the proposed development makes it possible to differentiate these angles depending on the frequency and time of exposure to vibration, as well as on a specific product. Certain parameters make it possible to regulate them to achieve minimum energy consumption.","PeriodicalId":132140,"journal":{"name":"EngRN: Transportation Engineering (Topic)","volume":"651 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132024104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a structural solution is appropriate in almost all countries of the world since cement-concrete slabs retain high strength for a long time. To prevent the rapid destruction of an asphalt-concrete road surface on a rigid base, it is necessary to ensure reliable adhesion between the layers' contacts and, at the design stage, to test the adhesion strength by estimation.\u0000This paper has substantiated a criterion of adhesion strength in the contact between an asphalt-concrete road surface and the rigid base. The calculation involves comparing the active tangent stresses in the contact between layers dependent on the effect of the vertical and horizontal components of the transport load with the magnitude of permissible tangent shear stresses in the contact of layers.\u0000The parameters for an estimation model have been established; the stressed-strained state of the roadbed structure has been simulated using a finite element method. When modeling the stressed-strained state and calculating based on the strength criterion, different vehicle traffic conditions have been considered, as well as the effect of temperature on the strength parameters of the asphalt-concrete layer and the tar layer. The conditions for vehicle movement, taken into consideration when designing, correspond to the conditions of movement along the road, along the curves in the plan and profiles, and notion conditions at car emergency braking. Practical recommendations have been compiled for assigning the minimum permissible thickness of an asphalt-concrete layer on a rigid base, which must be followed at the design stage due to the condition for ensuring reliable adhesion between the layers' contacts. The minimum permissible thickness ranges from 2 cm to 10 cm, depending on the conditions of movement, temperature, and the type of tar.","PeriodicalId":132140,"journal":{"name":"EngRN: Transportation Engineering (Topic)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115026477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A special feature of the new design of hydropneumatic suspension is the existence of movable connections (screw and splined) as parts of the hydropneumatic element. The presence of structural friction in movable connections requires, in particular, an assessment of the impact of this friction on the process of oscillations when moving through crossed terrain based on comparative analysis. The comprehensive estimate chosen for comparison includes operational properties in terms of ergonomics (smooth movement) and adhesion to the support surface (effort in the contact of wheels with the support surface). The results of a theoretical study involving a vehicle with parameters (weight, dimensions) close to armored personnel carriers BTR70, BTR80, but with hydropneumatic suspensions, demonstrated that when driving on crossed terrain with speeds up to 65 km/h there is a significant reserve in terms of ergonomics. Regardless of the presence (absence) of structural friction, at friction coefficients of up to 0.085. When moving on the surface with large irregularities, the reserve for the maximum allowable (3 g) acceleration in a driver seat is 4.708 times (there is no structural friction) and 3.768 times (structural friction is present). When moving on the surface with small irregularities, the reserve for the maximum permissible (0.5 g) acceleration in a driver seat is 2.093 times (there is no structural friction) and 2.616 times (structural friction is present). Under the most dangerous modes of movement (at the highest speeds) when driving over small irregularities, the presence of structural friction has a positive effect both in terms of ergonomics and stability. Thus, when driving at a speed of 65.679 km/h, the minimum clutch margin is 1.4 times greater, and the acceleration is 1.249 times smaller","PeriodicalId":132140,"journal":{"name":"EngRN: Transportation Engineering (Topic)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127253383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under the assumption of a random nature of transportation costs, an exact algorithm for solving this problem by a probabilistic criterion has been developed. This algorithm is implemented by an iterative procedure for sequential improvement of the transportation plan. The rate of convergence of a computational procedure to an exact solution depends significantly on the dimension of the problem and is unacceptably low in real problems. In this regard, an alternative method is proposed, based on reducing the original problem to solving a nontrivial problem of fractional-nonlinear programming. A method for solving this problem has been developed and substantiated. The corresponding computational algorithm reduces the fractional-nonlinear model to the quadratic one. The resulting problem is solved by known methods. Further, the original problem is supplemented by considering a situation that is important for practice, when in the conditions of a small sample of initial data there is no possibility of obtaining adequate analytical descriptions for the distribution densities of the random costs of transportation. In this case, the available volume of statistical material is sufficient only to estimate the first two moments of unknown distribution densities. For this marginal case, a minimax method for finding the transportation plan is proposed. The first step is to solve the problem of determining the worst distribution density with the given values of the first two moments. In the second step, the transportation plan is found, which is the best in this most unfavorable situation, when the distribution densities of the random cost of transportation are the worst. To find such densities, let’s use the modern mathematical apparatus of continuous linear programming","PeriodicalId":132140,"journal":{"name":"EngRN: Transportation Engineering (Topic)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124041907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed project is designed to detect as well as respond to accidents between moving vehicles and stationary road infrastructure such as traffic lights, street lamps etc. The system is consequently installed on this standalone road infrastructure and is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The system uses sound, pressure and motion sensors for detection purposes. The sensors are calibrated using the average values observed in previous accidents as their operating threshold values for detection and determination. They are connected with an Arduino and a Wi-Fi module which communicates with nearby medical facilities and highway authorities as a response mechanism in the event of a detected accident. If implemented, it has the potential to effectively reduce the loss of life and limb in the event of road accidents, especially on isolated highway stretches.","PeriodicalId":132140,"journal":{"name":"EngRN: Transportation Engineering (Topic)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116354038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The AFS was adopted by the UNECE in 2007 as the rules for arranging front-lighting systems of vehicles when driving in the dark. Among the known algorithms of AFS operation, a preliminary inspection algorithm is chosen, based on the features of the driver's observation of the road in front of the vehicle, taking into account the characteristics of his vision. The requirements of the algorithm for the control system are analyzed. Control methods using Arduino controllers and computer network are considered. Given the capabilities of network technologies, the CAN network (Controller Area Network) is chosen to ensure the quality of control. It is recommended to use the CAN network option with a length of 40 or 100 m and a speed of 1,000, 500 kbit/s, respectively. Network performance parameters are calculated: speed, error probabilities, performance dependence on load, size of commands and duration of transmission, and compliance with AFS requirements. It is proposed to improve the network arbitration algorithm by increasing the probability of transmission of low-priority commands at high load. The AFS developed on the basis of the CAN network allows creating comfortable conditions for the driver in the dark, preventing accidents, and ensuring traffic safety. An analysis of the AFS operation shows that it is directly related to the operation of most of the main components of the car, namely: engine, steering, gearbox, brakes, accelerometer, etc. It is operated under the driver’s control. Therefore, this system can have extended functions, serve as the basis for the safety system and vehicle control system as a whole","PeriodicalId":132140,"journal":{"name":"EngRN: Transportation Engineering (Topic)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127421201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A terminal landside handles containers that arrive or depart via train or truck. Large terminals have to handle thousands of trucks and dozens of trains per day. As trains run on fixed schedule, their containers are prioritized in stacking and internal transport handling. This has consequences for the service of other modes, which might be subject to delays. We analyze the dynamic interactions between the landside resources using a stochastic stylized semi-open queuing network model with bulk arrivals, shared resources, and multi-class containers. We use the theory of regenerative processes and Markov chain analysis to analyze the network. The proposed network solution algorithm works for large-scale systems and yields sufficiently accurate estimates for performance measurement. The model can capture priority service for containers at shared resources (such as stack cranes), while preserving strict handling priorities. The model is used to explore the choice of different internal transport vehicles (coupled versus decoupled operations at stack and train gantry cranes) to understand the effect on delays. Our results show that decoupled transport resources can mitigate both the delays of containers that arrive by trucks and by trains. When train arrival rates are low, prioritizing the handling of train containers at the stack cranes significantly reduces their delays. Further, this priority has little effect on the delays of handling external truck containers.","PeriodicalId":132140,"journal":{"name":"EngRN: Transportation Engineering (Topic)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121489912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
