The findings from the study reveal little change in the socio-economic status of the tribe. Agriculture is the main source of income for the tribal households in all villages. Only 7% of households earn an annual income between 25,000 and 30,000. Sex ratio of the study area is too high, with 1210 female per 1000 male, while the literacy rate of the study area is only 39.5%. Housing conditions have improved for 38% of the sampled households after the government allocated funds in 2017 to build pacca houses. 11% of sampled households have moved from a situation of no house to having a house in the last 10 years. 62% of sampled households have a separate kitchen and 38% of households currently have an attached kitchen in the study area. Only 17% of households use government provided toilets, which was nil prior to the last ten years. 69% of indigenous households still do not use a mobile phone in the study area. Sanitation is also an important issue in the study area, where only 41% had access to water from tube well in the last 10 years. The overall socioeconomic status of tribal communities has not changed to date.","PeriodicalId":132100,"journal":{"name":"EPRA International Journal of Socio-Economic and Environmental Outlook","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122491605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research on the role of technological development in enhancing the sector in Nairobi County is, however, scanty. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of technological development on the sustainability of the motorcycle business in Nairobi County. The study was conducted among motorcycle taxi operators. The descriptive research design was adopted. A sample of 249 motorcycle taxi operators in Nairobi County was selected using a systematic random sampling technique. Data was collected using questionnaires. Before data collection, piloting, instrument reliability, and validity, a pilot study was conducted. Data were computed for descriptive statistics (frequencies, means, and percentages) and inferential statistics such as Pearson correlations and Regression analysis. The findings were presented using tables, graphs, and charts. The study revealed that technology development did not have a significant influence on Motorcycle Taxi Businesses sustainability in Kenya. Most motorcycle operators, however, reported that technological innovation had contributed to stiff competition for the motorcycle taxi business which is healthy for business sustainability. Slightly more than 50% of the respondents indicated that technological innovation in the alternative transport sector has enhanced transaction processes between motorcycle taxi operators and their customers. Following this, the study recommended that motorcycle taxi operators should be encouraged to increasingly embrace technology to improve their efficiency and hence business sustainability. The government on the other hand should formulate technological policies that are aimed at improving the sector. \u0000KEYWORDS: Technological Development, Motorcycle Business, Motorcycle Operators","PeriodicalId":132100,"journal":{"name":"EPRA International Journal of Socio-Economic and Environmental Outlook","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114827946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are, primarily, two major visible threats that the world is facing at this juncture. One is on the health of the masses and other one is on the economy. In Indian context majority of the socio-economic activities are under complete and partial lockdown for several months, since March 25, 2020 and restrictions has been eased in phased manner. This has affected the lives of almost all, especially the poor and marginalized population, agricultural labourers, and the informal sector workforce. India needs to be more proactive and planned when it comes to countering the social and economic effects of any pandemic in future. In this context, it is of equal importance to observe the threat perception prevailing among people belonging to different demographic groups. Threat perception is a serious aftershock of any pandemic that restricts general public in returning to their normal socioeconomic life. It has huge socio-economic back fall. Under this study, the researchers have used survey method to collect primary data on the threat perception of people coming from different demographic groups. The study focus to identify whether there is any variation in threat perception of people regarding COVID-19 pandemic with reference to several demographic groups. To analyze the variation among different demographic groups Kruskal-Wallis Test, popularly known as the H-Test, is used. Henceforth, Post- Hoc Test is also performed to identify the significant differences in threat perception among different pair of sub groups, where demographic factors significantly impact threat perception. The researchers have also conducted Ordinal Logistic Regression to identify the level of variation in dependent variable, explained by independent variables. The variation in threat perception among peoples regarding this disease will definitely have huge impact on their socio-economic lifestyles. The research shows mixed results. The researchers have also suggested some recommendations based on the results of the study to control or rather to bridge up threat perceptional variations regarding COVID-19 for protecting socio-economic backbone of the country.\u0000KEYWORDS: Covid-19, Kruskal-Wallis Test, Lockdown, Ordinal Logistic Regression, Pandemic, Post- Hoc Test, Threat perception.","PeriodicalId":132100,"journal":{"name":"EPRA International Journal of Socio-Economic and Environmental Outlook","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115009423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
