Roy","doi":"10.17492/jpi.pragati.v9i1.912201","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17492/jpi.pragati.v9i1.912201","url":null,"abstract":"The study estimates sources of output and productivity growth of the 2-digit manufacturing industries as well as total manufacturing industry in Andhra Pradesh during the period from 1981-82 to 2010-11. A stochastic frontier model with a translog production function is used to estimate the sources of output and total factor productivity growth (TFPG) of the 2-digit manufacturing industries of the state. The sources of output growth become input growth effect and TFPG whereas TFPG consists of adjusted scale effect (ASC), technological progress (TP) and technical efficiency effect (TEC). In the past few years there has been quite a banter regarding inflation. While some argue that inflation is a sign of a healthy economy, others proclaim the negativity of inflation on the economy and its growth. It is evident that a rise in the rate of inflation gradually corrodes the purchasing power of people, especially those having lesser means. Inflation has a severe impact on households as the prices of necessities have surged beyond their purchasing power pushing them further below in their living standard. This plunges their indebtedness to a greater extent and they have to rely on borrowings to sustain themselves. This paper tries to study how these capital flows are helping India in enhancing the economic activities. It attempts to confirm the long-run and short-run relationship among the foreign direct investment, foreign institutional investments and Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in India during April, 2012 to March, 2020. Johansen cointegration test is applied to confirm the presence of long-run equilibrium and Vector Error Correction Model is applied to study the long-run and short-run properties of the variables. Finally, we have applied Impulse Response Function to understand the dynamic behaviour of the variables in the model.. It is found that the three variables- FDI, FII and IIP are cointegrated in the long-run. The study has been based on primary data. In Chamba there are seven blocks and Bharmour block has been purposively selected because this block constitute majority of tribal population. It was found that the main source of income of the household was non-agriculture sector as compared to agriculture and allied activities. In the study effort has been made to analyze the determinants that influence workforce to undertake non-agriculture activity as principal occupation by fitting a Binary Logistic Regression Model (BLRM).
