The objective of this study was to review the literature about quality of life of patients with temporomandibular dysfunction, emphasizing the different indexes to evaluate the quality of life. The databases for searching the literature were Pubmed, Bireme, Lilacs, Scielo. The keywords used in the literature search were epidemiology, temporomandibular joint disorders, quality of life, present in Health Desc. The literature reviewed was selected based on abstracts. The inclusion criteria were epidemiological and clinical studies; systematic review and meta-analysis; literature in portuguese and english; studies evaluating the TMD and quality of life indexes; while the exclusion criteria were literature review, clinical case, letter to the editor; literature addressing TMD and quality of life in children; studies that did not address the variables under study. The temporomandibular dysfunction according to the reviewed literature has an impact on the quality of life of the individual with dysfunction, several are the questionnaires to measure how much the TMD interferes in the daily activities of the patients, nevertheless the association of instruments is favorable to evaluate different categories as to quality of life of patients with dysfunction. Resumo | A disfunção temporomandibular tem apresentando-se frequente na população, assim dor crônica está diretamente relacionada com o estado da qualidade de vida do indivíduo; por isso se faz necessário compreender a interferência na qualidade de vida de indivíduos acometidos pela disfunção. Objetivou-se revisar a literatura sobre disfunção temporomandibular e a qualidade de vida dos portadores da mesma, enfatizando os diversos índices para avaliar a qualidade de vida. As bases de dados para busca da literatura foram Pubmed, Bireme, Lilacs, Scielo. As palavras-chaves usadas na busca da literatura foram Epidemiologia, Transtornos da Articulação Temporomandibular, Qualidade de Vida, presentes no Desc Saúde. A literatura selecionada para esta revisão foi selecionada com base nos resumos e abstracts. Os critérios de inclusão da literatura nesta seleção foram Estudos Epidemiológicos e Clínicos; Revisão Sistemática e Metanálise; Literatura em Português e Inglês; Estudos que avaliem a DTM e Índices de Qualidade de Vida; enquanto que os critérios de exclusão foram Revisão de Literatura, Caso Clínico, Carta ao Editor; Literatura que abordasse a DTM e Qualidade de Vida em Crianças; Estudos que não abordassem as variáveis em estudo. Orofacial manifestations of MS are cleft palate, fissured tongue and tone the facial muscles and poor language, dental hypoplasia, drooling by the absence of lip sealing, caries, periodontal disease, micrognathia, microstomia, open bite, bifid uvula, difficulty performing excursive mandibular movements, small palpebral fissures, ptosis, bilateral epicanthus, ocular hypertelorism, deformity of the outer ear with occasional hearing loss. Patients with MS with bilateral facial paralysis present inability to smile, due to the absence of lifting the lips and labial movements, and difficulties with speech, chewing and swallowing. The aim of this study is to report the therapy in 08 years of carrier old cleft patient post foramen approach associated with Moebius syndrome attended the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of fissured center Obras Sociais Irmã Dulce (Salvador, Bahia), which showed no facial expression, eye motor deficit, absence of lip seal with drooling, microstomia, generalized gingival hyperplasia and decayed deciduous teeth. Facial paralysis and orofacial and musculoskeletal malformations presented by patients with Moebius syndrome has a number of implications for the general and oral health. It was decided to perform this study amid clinical difficulties found and also reports about the difficulties in choosing a material, among so many, to perform functional impression, which is an essential step in making a dental prosthesis. Knowing the variety of these existing materials, a practical knowledge was searched, that indicated a material that could be chosen for this impression with more safety that presents at the end a dental prosthesis with great retention and stability. We performed a collection in a patient’s record where there were performed two total prostheses, where one used functional impression with an elastic material and the other one used an anelastic one. For this, an evaluation of the literature is necessary to understand this condition, favoring better treatment to the patient. Aim: To map through a bibliometric analysis on the Web of Science database of the international scientific production of the bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis of the jaw. Methods: A bibliometric study on bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis of the jaw was carried out in the Web of Science database. No refinement filters were applied to knowledge areas, countries, or study languages. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using HistCiteTM software (Thomson Reuters Inc., New York, USA) aiming the organization of the information. Results and Discussion: 1395 publications were identified in the main collection of the Web of ScienceTM. These articles were published in 426 different indexed journals and were written by 5303 authors of 541 institutions in 26 countries. A relationship between the products shown that the subject is worked in wide and diversified approaches, pointing to a range of possibilities of aetiology, prevention and treatment of this condition.
