AVALIAÇÃO CLÍNICA DO USO DE MATERIAIS ANELÁSTICOS E ELÁSTICOS EM MOLDAGEM PARA PRÓTESE TOTAL: UM RELATO DE CASO

Abstract

| In this work, the elastic and anelastic materials used in the functional molding of a total prosthesis were studied, evaluating the retention and stability prerequisites, seeking to recognize the material that presents the greatest advantage for everyday use in the clinic, where it presents a good manipulation, ensures a comfort to the patient and presents a satisfactory functional result. It was decided to perform this study amid clinical difficulties found and also reports about the difficulties in choosing a material, among so many, to perform functional impression, which is an essential step in making a dental prosthesis. Knowing the variety of these existing materials, a practical knowledge was searched, that indicated a material that could be chosen for this impression with more safety that presents at the end a dental prosthesis with great retention and stability. We performed a collection in a patient’s record where there were performed two total prostheses, where one used functional impression with an elastic material and the other one used an anelastic one. It is possible to notice in clinical practises that a great number of professionals use more elastic materials in impressions because of the advantages presented, which were lived in this study, with a better manipulation, handling, cleansing of waste and final results.
