DC-ISO will face highly stressed and varying conditions that requires new risk assessment tools to ensure security of supply. This paper proposes a novel risk-based static security assessment methodology named risk-based DC security assessment (RB-DCSA). It combines a probabilistic approach to include uncertainties and a fuzzy inference system to quantify the systemic and individual component risk associated with operational scenarios considering uncertainties. Forecasting price in competitive electricity markets is difficult for consumers and producers in order to plan their operations and to manage their price risk, and it also plays a key role in the economic optimization of the deregulated power industry. Accurate, short-term price forecasting is an essential instrument which provides crucial information for power producers and consumers to develop accurate bidding strategies in order to maximize their profit. In this paper artificial intelligence (AI) has been applied in short-term price forecasting that is, the one hour ahead price forecast of the electricity market. A new artificial neural network (ANN) has been used to compute the forecasted price in Ontario electricity market using MATLAB R13b. The data used in the forecasting are hourly historical data of the electricity load and price of Ontario electricity market. Hamirpur receives an average of 4.3 sunshine hours each day over the year. The average temperature ranges between 14°C to 34°C. Four different solar photovoltaic technologies (mono crystalline, polycrystalline, amorphous silicon and CIS) of 10kW each, are considered. Simulation is performed using PVsyst software (version 5.14). Solar resource used in simulation is a real time measured data at Hamirpur for 2013. The annual & monthly performance ratio (PR) are calculated for different modules and a comparison is presented. The cost analysis is done to compare the feasibility of module technology for the considered location. Based on the observations a Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) is proposed to improve the bandwidth, antenna gain and return losses of a patch antenna. Fabricated results of the return losses, radiation pattern and antenna gain of this patch antenna are also presented. Biogeography basically is the study of the geographical distribution of the biological organism. Biogeography based optimization is a comparatively new approach. Mathematical models of biogeography explain how an organism arises and how to migrate from one habitat to another habitat, or get died out. In BBO algorithm, solutions are sharing the good features between solutions that are immigration and emigration process. This algorithm looks for the overall optimum solution mostly through two steps - Migration and Mutation. Results are obtained on the different-different population size and different-different number of trials. The Results of the proposed method have been compared with results of IEEE 30-bus, 6 generator system and got the better quality of the obtained solution. Various market transactions have been considered for load following in deregulated environment. Controller gains are optimized by using a recent and powerful evolutionary computational technique called big bang big crunch (BBBC) technique. This study focuses on the approaches of green computing and how it can be used to minimize the environmental impacts of computers and other IT related resources effectively by WEEE recycling. This paper tries to answer the following two questions: What are the issues affecting proper implementation of the WEEE recycling as a green computing approach? What are the most important parameters? The study was carried out on the basis of some case studies. Firstly some field study were carried out for identifying the issues pertaining to the WEEE recycling in the IT industry's, secondly priority rating was obtained considering the parameters obtained from the primary research and literature survey, Finally the obtained ratings were analyzed using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) for prioritizing the different criteria which were affecting the WEEE recycling practices as a green computing approach. There are numerous researches in this field considering the green computing approach but there is hardly any literature available which has considered so many parameters with the AHP analysis for prioritizing the parameters. Wind energy system is one of the methods to generate power in connection with the conventional power systems. But when this wind farm is integrated to the grid system, the stability of the system tends to decrease. In this paper IEEE-14 Bus system using PSAT is used to evaluate the performance of the system, integrated with wind energy system, when subjected to fault. Using PSAT we first build an IEEE-14 bus test system and analyzed the performance by simulation. We introduced a three-phase symmetrical fault at various buses and study the voltage variations in all the buses with respect to time. We have connected a wind turbine at different buses and study the effect of wind power on the transient fault behavior. Therefore, it is required to utilize most efficient optimization techniques to simplify the small signal stability problem. From this point of view, many successful and powerful optimization methods and algorithms have been employed in formulating and solving this problem. The comparison of performances of three advanced optimization techniques in tuning the parameters of PSS in a New England test system (10 Generator, 39 buses) is presented in this paper. The optimization algorithms considered in this paper for effective analysis and design of PSS for multi-objective, multi-machine power systems are: Social Spider Optimization (SSO), Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). Robustness of proposed technique is analyzed over different type of operating conditions.
