In this paper optimum tilt angle is calculated for six sites in India. It was found that the optimum tilt angle is 0° in April, May, June, July and August for six different sites and it is maximum in December. The two new correlation of optimum tilt angle in terms of declination angle is developed which is important for installation of solar photovoltaic system in India.","PeriodicalId":130355,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy Economics and Environment (ICEEE)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129636265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The I-V characteristics of PV system are non-linear, which makes it difficult to track the maximum power at varying Insolation and temperature. In this paper a 50W photovoltaic module based system is investigated for its control characteristics. The operating characteristics is studied with the focus on control of boost converter to achieve maximum power point tracking by Perturbation and Observation method uniquely used with PI controller. The performance analysis of this system based model is simulated and presented for MPP operation by applying the control technique to a boost converter highlighting the issues in its control. The simulation results are obtained and plotted for varying insolation level between 50 % and 100 % for validation.","PeriodicalId":130355,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy Economics and Environment (ICEEE)","volume":"329 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126938400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In all around the world, the abrupt change in climate is one of the biggest issues of this era. The idea of emissions trading is a cost effective way of reducing emissions of pollutants and motivates the generators to generate more and more green energy and users to shift their purchase toward green energy generators. The possible threats induced by increasing average global temperatures have caused researchers to react, resulting in the modification of conventional methods. The aim of this modification is to reduce the emissions by the effective trading and also motivate the energy producers towards accepting green technologies. Two case studies based on an IEEE 14-bus system and IEEE 39-bus systems are used to analyze the proposed approach. The results show that the transmission charges based on the usage of technologies are reasonable and unbiased.","PeriodicalId":130355,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy Economics and Environment (ICEEE)","volume":"260 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125799792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

BCSO is binary version of Cat Swarm Optimization (CSO) based on the observation of the behavior of cats. BCSO has two modes of operation: seeking mode and tracing mode. This proposed methodology is used for the optimal placement of phasor measurement units (PMUs) for complete observability of a power system. The objective of this optimization problem is the minimization of the total number of PMUs required by keeping the observability of the system intact. The proposed algorithm was examined with IEEE 14-bus and IEEE 30-bus test system and their results are presented in the paper. These results were also verified with different existing conventional and meta-heuristic algorithms such as binary particle swarm optimization, generalized integer linear programming and effective data structure based algorithm. It is first time that the proposed binary cat swarm optimization has been contemplated for the problem of optimal placement of PMUs.","PeriodicalId":130355,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy Economics and Environment (ICEEE)","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116617855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fault often goes unnoticed in generators like single phase PMSG and therefore, study of fault behavior for different loads at terminal becomes necessary. For this purpose a mathematical model has been developed for an unhealthy generator using the Winding Function Theory. The effect of fault severity on the terminal voltage and fault current has been analyzed for load inductance of 2H and 6 H. Moreover, the effect of fault upon the counter torque applied on the generator has been studied by mathematical equations. Inter-turn fault generates large circulating currents which exert undesirable counter torque on the generator. Appropriate explanations have been provided for the obtained results. The results obtained by mathematical model have been verified by the simulation and experimental results.","PeriodicalId":130355,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Energy Economics and Environment (ICEEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130467424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper optimal design of grid connected rooftop Solar PV with mechanical solar tracking system and BARC's NISARGUNA food waste biogas plant is proposed. Diesel generators are added to insure the uninterrupted power supply and no any power storage system considered. The main objective is to utilize the renewable energy resources and also decrease the as much as operating time of diesel generator and minimize the cost function. In order to achieve this, electrical energy production by PV solar panels with fixed axis, single axis horizontal tracking, dual axis tracking modules are compared.
