To promote a more active lifestyle for the elderly, this paper proposes a solution with the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This is done by implementing a Smart Pedestrian Navigation system that will promote walking amongst senior people. The proposed system will achieve this by providing the most suitable walking routes for elderly users based on their needs. To be able to develop and implement such a system, the pedestrian needs of the elderly must be clearly understood. To achieve this, a survey was distributed in a co-creation workshop with elderly people in Cyprus. This enabled us to gather useful information regarding the initial requirements of the such a system as well as its potential usefulness. The results of the survey indicated that elderly people would be interested in the proposed system. Further, it was found that the most important features they felt the proposed system should have, are those that provide safety and comfort in their mobility experience.","PeriodicalId":129517,"journal":{"name":"2020 6th International Conference on Information Management (ICIM)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126814258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this study, the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) is adopted for this educational context. A quantitative survey-based approach was used to collect data from 431 undergraduate and computer science masters students at Brunel University London. The data were analysed using partial least squares - structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS3. The findings showed that three primary constructs, namely, performance expectancy, effort expectancy and habit significantly predicted students’ behavioural intention (BI) to use chatbot technology. Our results can guide policymakers in their attempts to explain and encourage the adoption and acceptance of innovative technologies, such as chatbots, by university students. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to investigate student acceptance and use of chatbots by university students using UTAUT2. Moreover, the present study will serve as the foundation for the design of features aimed at promoting chatbot acceptance and the enhancement of student engagement and performance.","PeriodicalId":129517,"journal":{"name":"2020 6th International Conference on Information Management (ICIM)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127029897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The topic of financial products’ purchasing behavior has aroused heated discussion. Based on the relevant data of the purchase of financial products by A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges from 2011 to 2018, this paper empirically explores the impact of the purchase of financial products on the business performance of listed companies. In general, the purchase of financial products by listed companies has an incentive effect on business performance. After distinguishing the nature of company, it is found that the purchase of financial products by non-state-owned company can improve the business performance, while the state-owned company has an opposite result. Thus it can be seen that the nature of company plays a watershed role in studying the relationship between the purchase of financial products and business performance. Further, the company size was used as the grouping basis for the sub-sample regression, and it was found that the significant positive correlation between the purchase of financial products and business performance only occurred in small-scale company. The conclusion of this paper will provide a theoretical basis for corporate managers in capital management, which is of great significance to corporate management.","PeriodicalId":129517,"journal":{"name":"2020 6th International Conference on Information Management (ICIM)","volume":"128 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124238339","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, for small and medium-sized companies with few managerial resources, even if a management strategy has been formulated, it is difficult to implement a backbone system that incorporates wide-ranging organizational and workflow reforms. In this analysis, we successfully implemented a backbone system for a small to mid-sized company by reimagining the business organization as a living system in dynamic equilibrium characterized by a concept we define as “mutual complementation” between the parts and the whole. In this study, we introduce the process of a backbone system actually implemented for small and medium-sized companies based on the dynamic equilibrium perspective. Further, we explore the implementation of such a system and identify points to be aware of during the process.","PeriodicalId":129517,"journal":{"name":"2020 6th International Conference on Information Management (ICIM)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132214919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite increasing reliability of data generated by wearable devices, not many institutions in the healthcare sector use wearables for patient care or safety. The benefit of having accurate patient data over a certain period of time is often neglected by the fact that the medical personnel and patients do not fully accept the technological improvement. Another issue is the interoperability between the device itself and the hospital information systems, e.g. data generated may not be further processed due to lacking data standards or interfaces. In order to investigate the acceptance of stakeholders of wearable devices a survey based on use cases was sent out to medical and administrative staff of Swiss hospitals. Finally, a technical feasibility study was conducted in order to find the technical requirements and challenges for the integration of wearable devices in the hospital IT environment.","PeriodicalId":129517,"journal":{"name":"2020 6th International Conference on Information Management (ICIM)","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114337261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Assuming that individual knowledge is deeper at the professional level, knowledge management theory has, to date, focused on how to diversify at the corporate or team level. However, with the advent of technology that can be applied to various industries, it is now thought that knowledge redundancy or knowledge overlap is needed even at the individual level. Thus, in this study, I conducted an empirical analysis of the impact of individual absorptive capacity and knowledge redundancy on the quality of innovation performance using patent data in the field of blockchain technology. Based on the analysis, I found that individual absorptive capacity enhances the quality of innovation performance and that knowledge redundancy and quality of innovation performance have an “inverted-U” relationship. This “inverted-U” shape tells us that the quality of innovation performance declines when personal knowledge becomes too specialized in the development of new advanced technology. Implications and possible directions for future research are discussed.","PeriodicalId":129517,"journal":{"name":"2020 6th International Conference on Information Management (ICIM)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114844140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Digital data collection (DDC) offers NSOs in Africa possible, albeit partial, solutions to several current performance and profitability concerns as they struggle to meet public sector decision makers’ requirements. Perceived potential benefits of DDC methods over paper-based methods include increased speed of data collection, increased data accuracy, timeous data availability, higher data quality, data security, and lower costs of data collection. Secondary benefits include better informed policies from governmental departments reliant on NSO’s for decision support data. This article presents data from two iterations of a large scale DDC implementation in South Africa – the first of its kind in Africa. Speed, accuracy, availability, quality, and costs of data collection receive attention as generalizable themes. Findings include: poor initial speed of DDC interviews followed by a significant speed increase as interviewers master DDC technology and skills, the importance of training within DDC processes, proof of higher accuracy in geographic data capturing, real time availability of data for decision making, a shorter data cleaning and release process, and higher initial costs of mobile devices.","PeriodicalId":129517,"journal":{"name":"2020 6th International Conference on Information Management (ICIM)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115004284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, nowadays, established principles (e.g., Universal Design) contribute to creating products that take into consideration the diverse needs and abilities of all individuals. Unfortunately, there is a gap between the digital and physical world: while websites and user interfaces are adopting accessibility principles, most devices do not support an equitable use. Specifically, individuals who are blind are not able to independently learn and operate several categories of physical products. In this paper, we propose a system for rendering the User Interface (UI) of physical devices and products accessible to individuals with disabilities, with specific regard to people who are blind. To this end, we introduce the concept of Interface Digital Twin (IDT), that is, a digital replica of the physical UI that leverages the accessibility features of mobile devices (e.g., vibration and text-to-speech) to render the interface accessible, help individuals understand its components and learn how to operate it, and support users in accomplishing their tasks on the actual device. The advantage of the proposed solution is that it can be integrated in current technology without requiring any modification. We detail the architecture of the system and we discuss its advantages and use cases.","PeriodicalId":129517,"journal":{"name":"2020 6th International Conference on Information Management (ICIM)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123718084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
