The balancing robot is a biped stepping robot, and aims to balance on a rolling pipe. The motion equations of the balancing robot and rolling pipe are formulated in order to grasp the robot motion and to design a stable robot controller for balancing on the pipe. Particularly, the calculation procedure of the contact forces is proposed, which generates between the robot foot and the pipe surface. Finally, simulation results are shown based on the formulation.","PeriodicalId":128533,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2018 10th International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117141448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research used an experimental approach, with three trials of six icons each (three abstract and three concrete icons), for a total of 1800 trials. The results showed that reaction times were similar for concrete and abstract icons. However, response accuracy was different. While accuracy of fast reactions (3 seconds or less) was similar, a chi-square analysis showed statistically significant differences in accuracy for the three longer reaction times (4-6 seconds, 7-9 seconds, and 9+ seconds) (p < 0.05). The results imply that even for experienced users, icon concreteness makes a difference in semantic distance and cognitive processing load, resulting in differences in response accuracy. Thus, even programs designed for experienced users should use more concrete icons where possible.","PeriodicalId":128533,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2018 10th International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114334096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The clustering of entrepreneurial potential aims to classify student data based on their diverse characteristic. However, the problem is that the entrepreneurial potential of students is affected by many factors, where each factor has varied characteristics, both in terms of its value and weight. Regarding these affecting factors, Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) is proposed as a solution to simplify the assessment of entrepreneurial potential per criteria. Therefore, the clustering process to the dataset has the concept of multi clustering attribute. The experimental results show that the multi-attribute clustering with the K-Means algorithm has better performance than normal clustering. It can decrease the value of Sum of Squared Errors (SSE) significantly by 90% and reduce the number of iterations by 30% so that the time in building model reduce by 1% and decrease the value of Incorrectly Cluster Instance (ICI) by 3%. Based on visualization, multi-attribute clustering results are also easier to interpret.","PeriodicalId":128533,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2018 10th International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133964977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This mathematical model belongs to multi-input nonlinear systems of mutually coupled pressure and speed of common rail diesel engine. First, the nonlinear state transformation is performed using flow computation, obtaining the standard state space equations of two decoupled single input. Then, sliding mode variable structure (SMVS) control theory is used to design two sliding mode controllers for single input nonlinear systems, in order to realize the control over the common rail pressure and diesel engine speed. MATLAB/Simulink software simulation platform is then utilized to simulate the designed nonlinear high pressure common rail control system. Finally, the real time simulation of common rail pressure is conducted on a computer through prototype code conversion and Digital Signal Processor (DSP) embedding technology. Results show that the sliding mode variable structure control algorithm has satisfactory control performance over nonlinear systems, solving the problems of traditional Proportional Integral Differential (PID) control that the response is slow, the overshoot is large, and the robustness is weak.","PeriodicalId":128533,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2018 10th International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering","volume":"127 15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128025003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the classical times, people have used memory palaces as a spatial mnemonic to help remember information by organizing it spatially in an environment and associating it with salient features in that environment. This paper reports a user study exploring whether using virtual memory palaces with a head mounted display (HMD) improves recall over using a traditional desktop display. Forty participants were asked to recall faces seen on both types. A statistically significant improvement of 8.8% in recall accuracy was found for HMD over Desktop. Users reported higher satisfaction as well. This could be a first step in using virtual environments for creating memorable experiences that enhance productivity through better recall of information organized in virtual memory palaces.","PeriodicalId":128533,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2018 10th International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115499868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the caregivers suffer from their lower back pains caused by transferring care-receivers at care beds. In order to reduce the physical burdens of caregivers, we have developed an autonomous chair maneuvered by care-receivers. This chair is able to transfer a care-receiver from a bed without caregiver burden such as holding up the care-receiver. Moreover, the care-receiver can also manipulate the chair as an electric wheelchair. In particular, the joystick controller and the velocity profile of the chair are carefully designed. We propose the concept of the maneuvering chair system, and experimentally evaluate the ride quality of the chair.","PeriodicalId":128533,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2018 10th International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128390949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, many customers still hesitate to buy their clothing online because of concerns that the product may not fit properly. One technology-based solution to this problem is the Virtual Fitting Room, developed in 2011 using the Kinect. To reach a wider range of customers, Virtual Fitting Room technology will need to be further developed to work on a smartphone. This paper is implementing the Virtual Fitting Room's body tracking system using a single optical camera on a smartphone. Viola-Jones algorithm is used to implement our single-camera body tracking technology through OpenCV and Android Studio. The method is to detect the full body first before tracking the upper body, in both cases using haar feature-based cascades to measure the size of the body based on a model of the human body that follows the golden ratio. The system was successfully implemented accurately with the method of finding mode every five measurements and detections with average error equal to 0.566667 cm.","PeriodicalId":128533,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2018 10th International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133033721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
