The opportunistic transmission exploits the conditions where fading amplitude is above a threshold, information which is known through a feedback link between the transmitter and the receiver. We are going to add this opportunistic concept to cooperation system for Amplify-and-Forward and Decode-and-Forward protocols. Then we evaluate the performance using Monte-Carlo simulations for three different cooperation scenarios. Results show that the proposed scenarios combat the effects of fading notably and a significant improvement in all presented cases compared to an ordinary cooperation system.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116245910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to infrastructure characteristics, LTE networks are highly expected to become the deployment network of M2M devices. The integration of the M2M technology in LTE plays an important role in the development of applications for the Internet of Things. However, the M2M communication poses some challenges to these networks, with highlight to the congestion and overload problem in the radio access network (RAN) during the random access procedure caused by the huge number of devices. Thus, mechanisms to control the overload and congestion are required to deal with such scenarios. In this paper, we describe the random access procedure of LTE and we propose a solution to mitigate the impact of the M2M communication. More specifically, we first model how the backoff time should be divided among the H2H and M2M devices as a bankruptcy problem. In a second moment, we apply two solutions for the bankruptcy problem using a game theory framework and an axiomatic approach. The simulation results show that our approaches present improvements in energy efficiency and controls the impact of M2M devices over H2H devices. In addition, we also provide priority among M2M devices with high priority and low priority.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129710276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the Controller centered paradigm brings great advantage to management and visibility, it also may cause some scalability and performance issues on Switch-Controller interface. We propose the \"blackhole mechanism\" as an alternative to reduce the communication overhead of OpenFlow operation in reactive mode. We also discuss the effect of UDP traffic over the control plane communication. In addition, we describe the problem of matching-rule expiration due to hard timeout regardless the traffic type. Finally, we evaluate the communication overhead through an experimental setup using Pantou OpenFlow switch and POX Controller running L2_learning application.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114819093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conventional defenses for these attacks are not scalable, are slow to react or introduce an overhead to each routed packet. In this paper, we present FlowFence, a lightweight and fast denial of service detection and mitigation system for Software Defined Networking (SDN). The FlowFence architecture includes routers running daemons to monitor the average occupation of their interfaces to detect congestion conditions, and an SDN controller that coordinates bandwidth assignment of controlled links. The controller limits the flow transmission rate along a path to prevent users' starvation. The mitigation procedure of starvation state allocates an average bandwidth, while flows exceeding the mean are penalized. The penalization is proportional to the difference between the fair limit and the current bandwidth usage. A system prototype was implemented and evaluated in the Future Internet Testbed with Security (FITS). The results show that the proposal avoids users' starvation of network resources without adding much overhead in the network.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130333915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several efforts are granted by all stakeholders to remedy to its harmful effects. This paper proposes an architecture allowing to gather useful information from a fleet of vehicles that can be used to decrease pollution problems and offer different services for smart cities. Among the given services, itinerary planning is considered to be the most important due to its economic and natural impact. Therefore, we propose and develop, as a proof of concept, a new itinerary planning service to efficiently calculate best itineraries in term of fuel consumption based on the collected information. We focus on information that help to enhance the accuracy and precision of vehicle's fuel consumption calculation along a trip, specifically: topological information such as road's elevation, trip information, traffic and weather conditions, vehicle's status and available service stations along routes.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116144219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a new strategy in order to optimize the exploitation of solar energy system in emerging countries to power Small cell Base Stations (SBS). Our proposed strategy is based on Markov Decision Process (MDP) strategy that we use to make decisions according to weather conditions evolution and battery level. The MDP strategy aims to choose the optimal decision regarding the use of the surplus power between keeping this energy to insure the operation of the SBS only or use it for both: SBS powering and mobile phones charging. We show that our strategy helps to optimize the use of solar energy without impacting Small cell Base Station availability.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"518 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123324984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vehicle users need to discover provider vehicles, know their services, and request services from them. For this, a cloud directory must be used to store information about provider vehicles and hence to form a dynamic index of such providers. In this paper, we design a new protocol that enables provider vehicles in a VANet to rent out their services and resources to other vehicles. We use LTEA infrastructure to exploit it as cloud directories with which provider vehicles register and from which consumer vehicles discover all offered services. More especially, we take advantage of the widespread availability of content as today data objects may be replicated or moved at several locations to minimize content access time or to provide resiliency. We propose a scalable interdomain routing architecture designed to meet the needs of data-intensive applications. Our protocol complements CCN's routing framework with the ability to discover routes that allow users to retrieve replicated content from the most efficient location. The distinctive feature of our approach lies in the use of the caching capabilities of content routers to store and maintain the routes discovered towards the closest replicas. Our simulation results show an increase in content access efficiency by minimizing retrieval time and by maximizing the bandwidth demand.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130892441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
