The heterogeneity of its components imposes a sophisticated security architecture to protect the smart grid from any attack's attempt. In this paper, we propose an architecture in which Intrusion Detection System (IDS) agents are implemented with a distributed manner to monitor the consumer side, building appliances and smart meters. Those IDSs rely on rule-based detection policy, which consists in the combination of temporal and spatial detection rules. Simulation results prove that this combination enhances attack's detection rate and reduces false positive rate.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124819561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose an elastic and energy-aware virtual machine migration mechanism that decreases power consumption by turning off physical machines and turns them on according to the demand. We develop heuristics that reallocate virtual machines in a smaller number of physical machines, turns off the idle physical machines and, consequently, saves energy. When the demand increases, the proposal turns on physical machines to supply the required resources. The contributions of the paper are four-fold: i) an efficient and elastic mechanism for energy saving on data centers; ii) a simple formal model for minimization of idle physical machines; iii) an implementation in a real environment, and iv) a simulation of the optimization algorithm for larger scenarios. The mechanism was developed and tested in Future Internet Testbed with Security (FITS). The results show the effectiveness of the mechanism on reallocating virtual machines to decrease power consumption.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130016327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general those devices need to be connected to a computer to function properly. Moreover, applications that project images on such an HMD respond typically only to user inputs like mouse and keyboard actions and head movement. In this paper we go a step further by proposing a framework in which the movements of a person are translated into actions in a virtual world. This allows a user to walk around freely while wearing an HMD, increasing the reality of the virtual experience. We will focus in detail on the challenges related to the localization of the user and discuss different options like existing wireless localization technologies, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and an object recognition algorithm. The latter is used in the final solution. Furthermore, we present an experimental and mobile setup to use an HMD in a portable manner. Our solution is demonstrated through a multiplayer game, in which two players compete against each other to capture a flag.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131775880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This convergence is underscored by the adoption of cloud computing services. However, application design scenarios behave differently as do the topologies used for those applications. This paper is an investigation into the performance of virtual and physical Gigabit links after testbed anomalies were detected in the transfer and speed rates. After hundreds of tests we conclude that there significant differences between performance of Gigabit links on native topology types and bridged topologies due to operating system changes, switching methodology and overhead. Further, additional resources allocated to virtual devices does not mean an automatic increase in network link performance.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117310125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We considered not only the geographical position and power control as traditional methods, but also the D2D user's specific QoS requirement. When the base station receives different QoS message from different D2D users, an independent message including reused cellular user's frequency and optimal power information will be sent back to corresponding D2D users. As we pay more attention to QoS level to determine the reused user and resource allocation, this new method can both improve the system throughput and satisfy different QoS requirement of all users. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of this new method.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122715362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We argue that this can and should be augmented by explicit demand projection and to integrate the demand profile for loads into the balancing and demand management mechanism. For micro-grids in disadvantaged environments, this cannot rely on the integrity of loads or centralised building energy managers and smart meters; instead, demand projection and communication must rely on distributed, opportunistically employed devices with limited trustworthiness. This work employs a distributed algorithm based on approximate consensus problem over non-complete graphs using random geometric graphs, and describe an algorithm that enables a group of devices to agree on a way to use power that are approximately equal to each other in the presence of non-cooperating devices. In this paper we therefore describe a hierarchical model for power networks combined with hybrid communication networks for micro-grids together with algorithms allowing the timely communication of aggregate demand in the presence of non-cooperating entities and energy theft; for this our main contribution is to develop an efficient approximate consensus protocol for sparse, random geometric graphs.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"745 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133693224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For ICT, facing the fast growing mobility demand needs a more agile WLAN. Software Defined Networking (SDN) offers programmability, a logically centralized control model, and a flow-based paradigm that is perfectly designed for highly scalable mobile and Wi-Fi networks. Our approach provides an agile and cost-effective communications platform for addressing these challenges, while attaining the high degree of scalability, security, and flexibility needed to support a diverse complement of services. In our work we developed a solution that allows clients to instantiate and deploy virtual OpenFlow Wi-Fi Access Points (AP) and virtual SDN controllers on the fly. By this technic, virtual instances are isolated and fully scalable for creating our SDN. Our goal is to create an architecture that is both ergonomic and flexible in order to meet the need for connection and client mobility.","PeriodicalId":128061,"journal":{"name":"2015 Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium (GIIS)","volume":"78 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132789927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
