National character is one of the most significant features of the culture. It is true for the English culture as well as for the Russian one and may seem one of important features to be studied and discussed in class.. The article gives prominent features of classical and modern fiction, reveals its impact on the students of 10-11 grade of the Russian secondary schools and figures out why it is important for the English textbooks. Students find the features of the national character from classical and contemporary fiction, get in contact with culture of the foreign country and analyse the authentic material in general. The article also points some questions for discussion which are to be solved later by more thorough research.","PeriodicalId":127608,"journal":{"name":"TSNI 2021 - Textbook: Focus on Students’ National Identity","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130743405","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article shows how students can develop their creative skills which manifest themselves when students try to make their own intellectual and informational content based on what they have read. We prove that as an educational resource an individually oriented study aid can be considered as a base that extrinsically motivates students to study foreign languages in higher school. As a topical issue we see web-based creative reading within the framework of collaborative educational setting led by personal-activity approach that prompts students to be actively involved in the educational process. Interactive multimedia online boards have become the primary focus of the paper. They contribute to building up collaborative learning environment and facilitate the development of the new teaching organizational forms. The paper contains several student cooperation formats on creative reading of the philosophical novella “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry while using multimedia study aids on the Miro interactive whiteboard.","PeriodicalId":127608,"journal":{"name":"TSNI 2021 - Textbook: Focus on Students’ National Identity","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116291780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Merkish","doi":"10.3897/AP.E4.E0616","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3897/AP.E4.E0616","url":null,"abstract":"The relevance of the problem. In modern language education, Internet resources are intensively used, which together create a cultural and linguistic Internet environment. This environment can be defined as a virtual space in which the perception of information and the exchange of it is realized. It seems relevant to consider the issues of the influence of the Internet environment used in the process of learning foreign languages on the formation of a student's personality, and, in particular, his national and cultural self-determination. Purpose of the article. The empirical research was carried out in the process of teaching German as a second foreign language to international students of the 4th year of MGIMO. Its purpose was to consider the problem of the influence of the Internet environment on the cultural self-determination of students. Methodology. When conducting an empirical study of the influence of the Internet environment on self-determination of students, the author used methods of analysis of scientific and theoretical sources, analysis and systematization of empirical experience. Results. The study identified the advantages and controversial aspects of using the Internet environment. In order to neutralize the influence of the environment, the following recommendations were formulated: the use of pluralism of the information space, the development of critical thinking skills, the need to teach students the basics of cultural-critical analysis of the source.","PeriodicalId":127608,"journal":{"name":"TSNI 2021 - Textbook: Focus on Students’ National Identity","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124740609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The working model of an online course on Italian Medieval culture and art will be analyzed, and possible directions of further research will be determined. This work will present the development phases of an online cross-curricular course prototype. This study explores existing e-learning design strategies that enhance intrinsic motivation and engagement. It also offers possible solutions optimizing language learning with appropriate and convenient interventions. The author presents a number of grammar structures in the Italian language represented in the course prototype and a detailed description of lesson structure, the logic behind their order, and examples of creative assignments. The authors also determined the connection between the tasks and game elements as well as the logic behind the choice of plot elements and key characters. The author formulates possibilities for implementing layered storyline mechanisms to create a more personalized and engaging learning experience.","PeriodicalId":127608,"journal":{"name":"TSNI 2021 - Textbook: Focus on Students’ National Identity","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132384119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
{"title":"Educational Text as a Vector Dominating Intercultural Communication","authors":"A. Zinkovskaya, V. Katermina, V. Plaksin","doi":"10.3897/AP.E4.E1127","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3897/AP.E4.E1127","url":null,"abstract":"The article under consideration shows that in the modern world of communication and educational needs an educational text performs several functions at the same time: educational and developing socio-cultural competence of the student which in its turn ensures immersion in learning a foreign language in the social and cultural environment. The study of the educational text as a vector of the formation of intercultural communication makes it possible to analyze these and other important functions based on the material of textbooks for students of Russian as a foreign language as well as the English language and it makes it possible to identify the technologies necessary in the study of a foreign language from the standpoint of intercultural communication. In this regard, the actual tasks of linguoaxiological studies and linguodidactics are the revision of the system of formed linguistic educational trajectories and attitudes. As a method for studying a theoretical part, axiological and axiometric methods were chosen in order to describe the interaction of three basic constituents – “language – consciousness – culture” of the studied language. The results of this study are of practical importance in choosing an effective educational text that will help to develop a student's cultural, cognitive and intellectual orientation.","PeriodicalId":127608,"journal":{"name":"TSNI 2021 - Textbook: Focus on Students’ National Identity","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123407714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
