The proposed backstepping-based robust controller guaranties a uniformly ultimately bounded tracking error leading to practical stability of the closed loop system. Two schemes are proposed. First, a constant gain-based controller that achieves a good tracking accuracy with a steady state error in the millimeter range, but induces control input oscillations in transient. To improve such behavior, a second controller with time varying gain is proposed. Both controllers assure robustness against perturbations and uncertainties in the dynamics of the system. Controlling the band gap of material by introducing intermixing process can be used to enable broadband and controllable emission of LEDs. Quantum well intermixing (QWI) in InGaN/GaN double quantum well (DQW) is discussed in this paper. By varying the interdiffusion and separation lengths, the effects of intermixing process on the quantum eigen energies of the wells are studied. This system operates at visible light. It gives high transmission at a wide range of oblique angles. The system consists of coating the cover glass that is used in solar cells with a single layer of thin film to increase the transmission percentage of the incoming light. Sumesh","doi":"10.1109/IEEEGCC.2015.7060098","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/IEEEGCC.2015.7060098","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper, two techniques are proposed to enhance the security and performance of Chaotic ON-OFF Keying (COOK) scheme and named as a Permutation based Chaotic ON-OFF Keying (P-COOK) and Time Reversal based COOK (TR-COOK) respectively. In the first system, bits are transmitted in frames. Samples of the modulated bits are interleaved and permutated before transmission which hides bit pattern in the transmitted signals particularly at high level of Eb/No. Security is maintained by considering the permutation matrix as a shared Key between transmitter and receiver. In order to recover the transmitted bits, each received frames will undergo inverse permutation transformation followed by energy detector. In the second scheme, the detection threshold is optimized by adding the chaotic signal with its mirrored version within one bit duration. Theoretical expression for the correlator output for (P-COOK) and (TR-COOK) are developed and compared with conventional COOK. Bit-Error-Rate (BER) performance for both systems are calculated and compared with conventional COOK under Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) environment and with different values of spreading factor. Solar radiation is not steady and never will be, and so, a storage system is required to ensure a stable and continuous supply. To increase the reliability of the system whether islanded or network connected, it is better to have a storage system. After all, the decision of whether to use a storage system or not, and whether to use a big storage size or not is a matter of an economical decision. In this paper, the focus will be on designing a Markov model for the solar radiation and from that, techniques will be applied to specify the best sizing of the storage. Thus, the optimal sizing of the needed storage will be specified using three different techniques. The indirect adaptive fuzzy control technique is used to design tracking controller by generating approximations of unknown functions. Suitable adaptive control law and updating algorithms for the controller parameters are synthesized using Lyapunov function. The designed tracking controller for each area uses the frequency and tie-line power deviations of the area. The proposed controller guarantees the boundedness of the closed-loop signals. With Internet connectivity to such devices, the smart grid Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is exposed to attacks by the adversary class. Any compromise of a smart meter may jeopardize the security of not just the household in question, but also the entire neighborhood network and possibly the utility provider's core network. One attack category that may pose a serious threat to the AMI is a meter compromise attack, wherein a smart meter is controlled by the adversary, with the intent of committing energy fraud. In this paper, we present a detection model based on a cumulative analysis of smart meter readings of clustered smart meters. The clustering of smart meters is done based on the physical deployment points of individual smart meters within a neighbourhood area network.
