Therefore, the joint optimization of integrated electricity and natural gas (IENG) system is paid more attention. In this paper, the detail model of IENG is established, and the dynamic characteristics of natural gas flow is analyzed in hour-scale and minute-scale. A multi-time scale scheduling framework is proposed for IENG at a distribution level. In the day-ahead layer, the costs of system are minimized to ensure the economy of scheme. In the real-time layer, the fluctuation of power in point of common coupling (PCC) is minimized to alleviate the impact on main grid which caused by uncertainty of distributed generation (DG) and load. Finally, the case study verifies the validity of the proposed model.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122529471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design of these controllers are based on the concept of Q-learning and dynamic fuzzy Q-learning (DFQL). The Q-learning based controller essentially provides discrete control actions unlike DFQL based controller which generates continuous control actions. However, the learning time in DFQL based controller is significantly more compared to the conventional Q-learning. The effectiveness of these controllers are studied considering a test wind energy conversion system consisting of 20 wind turbines which are driven by 20 DFIGs. The results of the simulation illustrate that Q-learning based intelligent controller performs better compared to DFQL controller.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126505469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has led to the generation of huge amount of data. Management of enormous amount of smart grid data poses significant challenge to the data owners. Currently, there are not much incentives available to encourage better data management among data owners. Generated smart grid data mostly stay with the owner of the data. Lack of a proper data exchange platform often prohibits the flow of data across various entities of smart grids. Exchange of data is necessary for efficient utilization of smart grid data. To address these issues, this paper proposes data markets for smart grids. The advantages of Smart Grid Data Market (SGDM) are outlined in this paper. Smart grid data and related services are the tradable commodities in the SGDMs. A market model is proposed for SGDM. Market structure, participants, commodities, attributes of data pricing, data licensing, data authenticity and other aspects of the proposed SGDMs are discussed.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"52 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131747298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The electricity is consumed by the electric motors that run the compressors, pumps, and fans scattered through the chiller systems. Using all-variable speed chillers has been pointed as a strategy to reduce the energy demanded by the chillers. However, the efficiency of the electric motors tends to decrease with the speed reduction, making them a source of losses when adopting the speed control. In this paper, an all-variable speed centrifugal chiller model is developed in SimulationX, as well as synchronous reluctance motors (SynRM) and high-efficiency induction motors models, and simulations focused on the energy performance are implemented. The energy performance of both types of motors when running variable speed centrifugal chillers are compared and the quantitative results of the energy efficiency when using SynRM in chiller systems are provided.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131872770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The optimal energy consumption scheduling is calculated based on user preferences in advance, e.g., day-ahead schedules. Most of the prior works in the literature have reported good results under the assumption that users are committed to the optimal schedules and do not deviate from their preferences, which may not be true in practice. In this paper, we consider the implications of allowing users to change their preferences and request new schedules at any time. We propose single-user and multi-user adaptive rescheduling algorithms which address these changes in user preferences. The algorithms reschedule deviating energy consumption optimally thus reducing the total energy cost. Simulation results show that the total energy cost of the community can be reduced by as much as 11.4% in specific scenarios.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133245629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These methods are formulated in the proposed SOC-ACOPF models, correspondingly, ConicLA, ConicRe, and ConicTA. The principle is to drop the original assumptions of the SOC-ACOPF model by using improved approximation methods. The nonconvex constraints in ACOPF are expressed by using quadratic equivalence. These quadratic constraints are then approximated in two different ways: ConicLA uses controllable tangent lines as linear approximations; ConicRe uses rotated cones. Furthermore, the assumption of small voltage phase angle difference (along each line) which is used in many power flow models is dropped in the ConicTA model. ConicTA approximates sinusoidal function by its expanded Taylor series and then re-applies approximation methods developed in ConicLA and ConicRe. The advantages of our approximation methods are that the proposed SOC-ACOPF models are convex and more accurate. Using Power System Analysis Toolbox (PSAT) as the benchmark, numerical results from various IEEE test cases show that our models outperform the original SOC-ACOPF model prominently especially for power distribution networks.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133609895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presented system not only allows an optimal charging scheduling to maximize the revenue for the carpark operator, but also enables the participation in DR. Numerous advantages to deploy a smart power sharing charging infrastructure in the future carparks have been discussed in the literature. A smart charging scheduling strategy leads to a better usage of grid power and improves the grid stability. Moreover it benefits the users to charge their own electric vehicle (EV) with lower cost and generates additional revenues for carpark operators. The utilization efficiency of the charging station will also be improved in the meantime.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130984106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existing approaches for real-time STVS assessment suffer from long observation windows and lack mitigation to the impact of PMU measurement noise. Considering those inadequacies, this paper proposes a noise-tolerant temporal-adaptive STVS assessment approach with the following salient features: 1) the adoption of probabilistic classification enables the early unstable event detection ability, which significantly improves the assessment speed; 2) the probabilistic classifier consists of noisy-tolerant ensemble models that are able to learn the impact of measurement noise, which improves the assessment robustness against measurement noise. The proposed approach is tested on New England 39-bus system, and its fast assessment speed and excellent robustness against measurement noise are verified by comparative studies with existing approaches.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114604029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reverse power flow and the addition of interconnections between feeders not only make relay coordination harder, it requires development and testing of new control algorithms to ensure voltages are kept withing safe operating limits. Simulation tools that provide a good compromise between detail and computational complexity are necessary. This paper summarizes the requirements and characteristics for operating and simulating future smart distribution grids. Special focus is put on existing simulation tools that allow testing of complex algorithms involving a combination of energy sources and loads, i.e., distributed generation (DG), flexible load (FL) and energy storage. Finally, the importance of co-simulation of power and communications systems is discussed.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116200271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed technique integrates the economical and resilient objectives of hybrid ac/dc microgrid in one control scheme. Based on the incremental-cost-droop decentralized on each distributed generator (DG), the uniform control scheme utilizes the BIC equalizing the normalized ac frequency and dc voltage. Coordinated sub-grids through the BIC, the system cost is minimized with the same incremental costs for all DGs. Besides saving the system cost, the BIC is managed to enhance the system resilience by supporting the subgrid voltages once the voltage source fails. With the bidirectional ac droop strategy, the designed control scheme is implemented without the communication and the mode switches. In a hybrid ac/dc microgrid, the proposed uniform control scheme is vindicated through various operation scenarios.","PeriodicalId":126140,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124096327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
