The modification consists of subtracting a delayed sample of the received signal from the current sample. The average packet time delay for each origin destination node pair is taken as a constraint. The method converts a capacity assignment problem into three stages. The first two stages are nonlinear optimization problems and the third is an integralization stage. In the third stage, the concepts of significance evaluation and economy evaluation are introduced, so that the method realizes a more practical and economical network design than conventional methods. This approach to quantifying the performance of complex communications networks and services allows easier identification of the components and performance characteristics that most severely affect applications. The model can be used as an analysis tool to set objectives, evaluate new services, and improve the end-to-end availability/reliability for a given network application. A Markov model of component performance that allows for dependencies between degradations and the onset of failure is developed and used to determine the reliability and availability of individual network tasks. Network performance is then described by the performance of the various tasks which it supports. Closed-form expressions for availability, reliability, and the mean time to recover from impairment conditions are derived. The algorithm uses tentative decisions to form noiseless ISI estimates, but is substantially different in its decision-making strategy and more resilient with respect to tentative decision errors. The proposed algorithm is generic and can be used with a variety of canceler architectures in mitigating ISI caused by arbitrary combinations of linear and nonlinear system impairments. This scheme was developed for application to high-quality image packet transmission in asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks. There are two problems in implementing image packet transmission in ATM networks: the achievement of a compression scheme with high coding efficiency and the achievement of an effective compensation method for cell loss. The scheme considered resolves both these problems. It involves the division of a two-dimensional spectral image signal into several subbands, applies high-compression-ratio, motion-compensated interframe DPCM (differential pulse code modulation) and discrete cosine transform (DCT) to the high-frequency bands, and applies intraframe prediction with DCT to the baseband. This scheme also provides stable compensation for cell loss. In this system, IpFFT is used to estimate the parameters of the jamming signal, frequency, amplitude, and phase, and the cancellation is performed in the time domain. In order for the IpFFT to perform correctly, accurate frequency-domain information about the jamming signal is required. However, FFT information around the jamming frequency may be warped by the information signal itself, which makes it difficult to estimate the parameters of the jamming signal. To remove the effect of the information signal on the jamming signal, various methods are proposed. The performance of the proposed system is verified by computer simulation, which demonstrates the high performance of the system.
