The study adopted survey research design. Questionnaires were used to seek opinions of TVET technical college teachers and lecturers in tertiary TVET institutions on functional TVET school production units/consultancy services and the challenges hindering the establishment. The functional production units/consultancy services in TVET institutions in the study include poultry farms, fishery, clothing and textile, catering craft practices, data processing, among others. Contrarily, feed production, salesmanship, cosmetology, leather goods manufacturing and repair, GSM maintenance and repair were not functional at all in all the institutions surveyed. Challenges found to hinder school production/consultancy services of TVET institutions were: lack of organizational vision for productivity (3.39±0.63), poor perception of school production units/consultancy services (3.36±0.65), lack of manpower to drive the establishment (3.24±0.66) and perceived problems of integrating industries in TVET programmes (2.96±0.94). The study concludes therefore, that the benefits of school production units/consultancy services in TVET institutions are enormous, making it a fundamental requirement that should not be neglected. Thus, overcoming the challenges hindering the establishment of school production units/consultancy services will reflect in the quality of graduates turned out into the society and would eventually minimize to the barest minimum the need to retrain TVET graduates by employers.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127142200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A questionnaire was used to measure students' subjective perceptions. Suitability Vocational interests are assessed using a standardized test known as a modified vocational interest scale from the SDS (Self-directed search). Eleven vocational schools in Indonesia, comprising of 362 students from the manufacturing program contributed in the survey. The computer-based statistical data analysis system was used to examine the raw data collection. The results showed that 49% of the students felt satisfied and enjoyed the learning process they followed at school. Considering the students' interest in the vocational school, which conforms to the personality typology, 41% of the students were confirmed positively. The two statistic figures suggest that when a student has strong motivation and has a high interest in the vocational school, they feel positive about the education process. Besides student also enjoy and follow the system accordingly. The development of well-being in school can then be shaped. This paper provides the implementation of a well-being model to cater to the education process, considering the conformance of students' interest in their selected course programs in vocational schools.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"291 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123109537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The WIC program provides education, nutritional supplements, and provides health and social referrals to recipients. The overall purpose of this study was to create a program that would inform, educate, and empower recipients so they could utilize the WIC EBT card to its full potential by obtaining all items covered and available to them. A descriptive, pre-experimental, one group pretest -posttest design was utilized. Additionally, the researcher administered survey questions to determine what challenges recipients experience, comfort level using the voucher, and other information pertinent to successful use of the WIC EBT card. Consequently, two 45 minutes educational sessions were provided to recipients regarding the approved foods with an emphasis regarding brands and sizes. Following the in-service classes, significant changes were noted in staff knowledge (n=8) regarding WIC approved items (95% confidence interval and a significant value of.029). This indicated there was a change in knowledge when comparing the number of correct responses selected on the pre-test to the correct responses selected on the post-test. After a thorough analysis, the investigator discovered that Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) recipients were comfortable utilizing their WIC EBT card; however, there was a need for additional education on the products covered by the WIC EBT card.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123526741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Key components of work ethic include interpersonal skills, initiative, and dependability. This study examined significant changes on the work ethic differences between women and men in two samples of work ethic data collected over a fourteen year period of time. One data set was gathered from 201 working adults in China in 2004 and the other was collected from 248 working adults in 2018. Data was gathered using a Chinese translation of the Occupational Work Ethic Inventory (OWEI) constructed by Petty (1993). Significant differences were measured for initiative between women and men in the 2004 data set, but not in the 2018 data set. No significant differences were detected between women and men for interpersonal skills or dependability in either set of data. A review of literature and discussion is provided to explain changes over time in initiative of Chinese women and men. The findings reveal some interesting insights into the Chinese workforce during a time when the economy has been rapidly developing.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131148854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, studies have shown that TVET graduates in Uganda experience difficulty in their transition to the world of work, implying major labor market entry problems. The study, we set out to identify different strategies for facilitating TVET graduates’ transition to the world of work in Uganda. A qualitative approach was used to collect data, analyze and present findings. Thirty respondents, comprising of employers of TVET graduates, trainers and officials from: skilling Uganda, Uganda employers’ union, Ministry of education officials, and TVET graduates in formal employment were randomly selected and interviewed. The various strategies identified were: use of employment agencies, income generating units at the institutions, institutional-industrial linkages, provision of start-up capital, tools and materials for self-employment, training with production and internship/ industrial attachments programs. It is recommended that an active labour market information system be established at TVET institutions to analyze, collect, evaluate and provide labour market information to identify evolving occupations, skills shortages and areas of skills oversupply and redundancy; that there should be an increase in apprenticeship programs and that TVET institutions adopt approaches such as case studies, project-based learning, real life problem-based learning, and teamwork learning activities.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121304635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
