Despite the multiple strategies for achieving gender equity in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), studies have revealed that funding challenges continue to hamper its realisation in TVET institutes. Thus, this study explored funding avenues in TVET that promote gender equity of students in TVET institutes in Uganda. A descriptive survey design with quantitative and qualitative approaches was used to collect, analyse and present study findings. 260 informants including institutional leaders, instructors, students, district leaders, ministry officials, and civil society gender advocates participated in this study. Purposive, convenient, and stratified random sampling techniques were used in selecting the study informants. Questionnaire and interview guides were used to collect the desired data. The quantitative data was cleaned, coded, and entered into Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 21 for analysis. Percentage, mean, and standard deviations were used to present the quantitative data. Thematic method and verbatim reporting were used to analyse and present qualitative data respectively. The results revealed that: privatisation of TVET access, increasing TVET budgets, timely and adequate government grants, timely and adequate staff remunerations, bursaries and scholarships, public-private partnerships, affirmative strategies, and boosting parents’ income, promote gender equity of students. The study recommended that supportive loan schemes for TVET students be instated, capital grants per student need to be increased, with a slightly higher amount for females to meet their sanitary needs, capital grants to TVET institutes should be dispatched before the start of new terms/semesters, incorporation of the gender lens in the allocation of bursaries and scholarships, encouraging policy formulation and memoranda of understanding between institutes and industries, building linkages with other institutions and seeking donor funding from organisations.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134338741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ethiopia has implemented the outcome-based Technical and Vocational Education and Training system since 2007. The Ethiopian outcome-based TVET system is a training delivery approach in which the labour market demand is identified and Occupational Standards (OS) are developed by industry and then the curriculum is developed based on the OS developed. Both the Ethiopian occupational standard (EOS) and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curriculum derived from the OS have similar architectural structural mapping. The main objective of this article was to assess how the TVET curriculum mapping in the case of the building construction fields in Ethiopia responds to labour market demand. The main data gathering instruments used in the study were interviews and document analysis. The interviews were held with the TVET stakeholders such as the Federal and Regional TVET curriculum development officials, the TVET college principals, the HoDs and TVET trainers. The documents that were reviewed included the Ethiopian National TVET Strategy and other TVET working documents such as the Ethiopian Occupational Standard and the TVET Curriculum Development manuals as well as other literature related to the study. It is found out that the curricula of building construction fields are the direct and one-to-one conversion of their respective Occupational Standards. The findings again revealed that the general TVET curriculum mapping of the building construction fields have not addressed the country’s labour market demand and training needs. As a result of this, it was noted that the participants were not comfortable with the curriculum mapping of building construction fields laid by the Ethiopian TVET Authority. The paper concludes that the TVET curriculum should not necessarily have been the direct mirror and reflection of its OS when curriculum mapping was designed as it does not reflect the real societal and training needs of students.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126061054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quality control is the critical factor for higher vocational colleges to improve their core competence. However, there are many overlapping funcations among administrative departments, which leads to unclear and unreasonable division of responsibilities due to its specific mechanism and system of higher vocational school. This reveals that the quality assurance in higher vocational colleges should be improved urgently under the background of China’s high-quality development strategy. In order to provide a good education and improve education quality, higher vocational colleges need to change managing concept and improve inner management reform. Establishing a quality assurance system which complies with the ISO 9000 standards or total quality management will become an important base in achieving excellence for higher vocational colleges. This paper utilizes ISO9000 standard and the ISO14000 environmental management system to analyze factors for the total quality control in higher vocational colleges, establishes a complex quality management system from the perspectives of total quality management and improves effects of the quality on teaching and management.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115542011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two organizational models were in use, the German one for the University and the French one for the Evelpidon Military School (Greek military academy) and the School of Technology (a forerunner of the Polytechnical School). France’s Ecole Polytechnique remained nonetheless the basic educational model for the Greek military academy. The new educational policy created a number of scientific obstacles that did not favor the flourishing of mathematical education. The length of study at the Greek military academy Greek military academy increased to eight years and new mathematical courses were added to its program, so that its graduates would be able to take upper level technical courses. Bourdon’s Arithmetic, Legendre’s Geometry and Trigonometry, Francoeur’s Algebra, Monge’s Descriptive Geometry, Differential and Integral Calculus, etc, formed the basis of the cadets’ mathematical education. Mathematics was included in the subject matter so that the graduates would be in a position to understand the theoretical basis of the technology employed, as well as, crucially, to help the cadets understand upper-level technical courses. Another reason for the teaching of Mathematics was the materialization of the political goal set by the governments of the Ottonian period, that is access to Europe’s technological achievements. The introduction of additional and more difficult upper-level technical courses required the introduction of new mathematical courses to the program.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123527451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the study examined students’ related determinants of post-graduate studies completion time in vocational and technical education programmes in South-South Nigerian Universities. A research question guided the study and two null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Descriptive survey research design was employed for the study. The population consisted of 204 post graduates of vocational and technical education programmes in South-South Nigerian Universities. The population constituted the sample size since it was not too large. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled Determinants of Post-Graduate Studies Completion Time Questionnaire (DPGSCTQ). The instrument was validated by three experts. To determine the reliability of the instrument, Cronbach Alphawas used to check the internal consistency and thus, the reliability coefficient of 0.78 was obtained. The data collected for the study were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions. The t-test and ANOVA were used to test the null hypotheses. Findings of the study revealed that students’ related factors such as demography, research orientation, study habit, among others, contribute to a great extent to the completion time of the students in the post-graduate programmes. It was recommended among others that post-graduate students should show commitment in their studies; avoid procrastination and poor study habits in order to make their time count in the programmes.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130523684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The performance of children in their academics in the recent times, in this 21st century has shown a tremendous improvement. In the western world, teaching and learning methods is taught to learner through computer simulation, computer tutorial, 3D animation and field trip. Field trip makes students to see things for them to get first-hand information, this has made teaching and learning to be impressive, students can understand what is taught to them. Teaching is made simple because what is taught to students they see it, touches it, and feels it by hand themselves, when they go on visit to the sight. In Nigeria cycle, the teaching and learning method is done in lecture methods in schools, which make students and pupils not to understand what is being taught to them, learning is bored because the learner do not see what is taught to them, they are abstract in nature because teacher does the teaching, while students listing to the teacher. It is a teacher learning centered approach; in carrying out this study the researcher used survey design methods to gather data for the research, findings was discussed to back up the research, conclusion were made. Field trip brings excitement, cooperation by doing things collectively, first-hand information by knowing what you are to learn by visiting, feeling, and touching to make learning methods to be simple.","PeriodicalId":125677,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Vocational Education and Training Research","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122509196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
