The analysis is based on the existing data for the carbon nanotube (CNT) electron nanoemitters. A comparison with the estimated parameters for the most promising metal oxides semiconductors, such as PdO, CuO, and ZnO, is made. Lately cold field emitters have gained great importance because of their application in the flat panel display technology based on vacuum field emission devices. The objective of this study is the discussion of the technological potential of certain metallic oxides to be used as cold electron field emitters, and to show the related physical basis according to the Fowler-Nordheim emission theory. Taking into account the presented analysis some selection criteria to identify the device operating parameters, such as the turn-on voltage, emission current density, and device stability is presented","PeriodicalId":125310,"journal":{"name":"2006 3rd International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130639054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The materials were deposited by low pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) and nitrogen was introduced adding ammonia to the reactive gases. Some samples were annealed at 1100degC in nitrogen ambient. The films were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and photoluminescence (PL). The emission intensity depends on the silicon excess, nitrogen content and thermal annealing. For as deposited samples the emission intensity increases with the nitrogen concentration, and a slight wavelength shift is registered with respect to the nitrogen concentration. For films annealed, strong red emission with peak at ~720 nm was observed, and the PL emission increase as nitrogen content decrease. The emission intensity and position peak can be adjusted by thermal annealing, varying the nitrogen content and silicon excess","PeriodicalId":125310,"journal":{"name":"2006 3rd International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"218 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134061123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, the problem of clustering mixed data has drawn interest due to the fact that many real life applications have mixed data. In this research work, we propose a clustering algorithm called ACEM that is able to deal with mixed data. This algorithm makes a pre-clustering on the pure categorical data. Then including all mixed data it evaluates the clusters using an entropy-based criterion in order to verify the cluster membership of the data. As result, we obtain a clustering algorithm for mixed data whose main idea is to extend a categorical clustering algorithm introducing an entropy criterion to measure the cluster heterogeneity. We make comparisons with other clustering algorithms on real life datasets to illustrate our algorithm performance","PeriodicalId":125310,"journal":{"name":"2006 3rd International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133436316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This behavior is studied in the context of a V-BLAST receiver, and the effects of the limited precision are evaluated in terms of their impact on the receiver's bit error rate. Our analysis of V-BLAST under these conditions shows a strong dependence on the numerical precision, for both the integer and fractional parts. We have also identified an \"error floor\" effect, where the bit error rate reaches a limit and stops improving even if the precision is increased. In addition, we have determined the minimum fixed-point word size required not to adversely impact performance for a variety of antenna array sizes","PeriodicalId":125310,"journal":{"name":"2006 3rd International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128968235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A computation program STEP is developed following the proposed algorithm. The paper uses also the results of DINIS professional power system analysis software performing active and reactive power flow calculations for the analyzed power delivery system.
