Given the potential benefits of such systems, both for the electricity company and the user, electricity consumers are becoming interested in purchasing and installing them. In this work the first privately owned, 3-phase 30.6 kW GPVS installed in Mexico city is presented. In this application the photovoltaic (PV) generator also constitutes the roof of the building, which represents an additional benefit from this kind of systems. Technical characteristics of the GPVS are presented along with the results from the first few weeks of system operation. It is concluded that due to the particular consumption pattern of electricity in the building, an excess of PV electricity is generated during the morning and midday hours of operation. They have become a disabling disease with major repercussions. A new and promising method to treat refractory cases of obesity has emerged in the last years. It uses electrical stimulation on vagus nerves to diminish gastric motility producing an early satiety sensation. In this work an experimental gastric stimulator is presented, intended to determine optimal values of intensity, and pulse width as well as better sites of stimulation and electrode-nerve attaching techniques. This device was designed considering a wide range in values to test the feasibility of the technique in vivo and in situ conditions. The size and complexity of software systems make it almost impossible to perform complete coverage testing. During the past several years, many techniques to improve the test effectiveness (i.e., the ability to find faults) have been proposed to address this issue. Two examples of such strategies are random testing and partition testing. Both strategies follow an input domain sampling to perform the testing process. The procedure and assumptions for selecting these points seem to be different for both strategies: random testing considers only the probability of each sub-domain (i.e. uniform sampling) while partition testing considers only the sampling rate of each sub-domain (i.e., proportional sampling). This paper describes a more general sampling strategy, named weighted proportional sampling strategy. This strategy unifies both strategies into a general model that encompasses both of them as special cases. These events are usually associated with a fault somewhere on the supplying power system. Industrial processes are particularly sensitive to relatively small voltage sags; therefore, customers will have to improve the ride-through capability of the system equipment in their facilities. This paper presents the application of a control strategy to a single-phase multilevel active rectifier in order to achieve a fast compensation and a small ripple in the DC bus during the voltage sag, maintaining the other benefits (power factor correction and input current harmonic components reduction). The proposed strategy is based on a classical PI voltage controller which parameters are modified when voltage sag occurs. The single-phase DQ theory is used to detect voltage sag and to make the compensation by means of a power estimator. The fewer harmonics injected the better the ASD is; this consideration could be used to choose a good ASD among several possibilities in the market. Even more, there is also an increasing need to check for compliance with IEEE 519. Because of this distortion, the electric quantities are difficult to measure. Harmonic or power quality analyzers are expensive equipments for small industries. The test bench proposed is based on a LabView data acquisition system together with a MatLab FFT program calculation. Hall effect current sensors and transformers used as voltage sensors produce the basic signals to, after conditioning, measure the harmonics at the point of common coupling (PCC). Digital signal-processing techniques produce evaluation data and graphics displayed at the front panel of a virtual instrument (VI). Several algorithms for accomplishing the above exists with varying degrees of accuracy and convergence. In this paper we study the R/S statistic, in particular, the accuracy, convergence and its effectiveness under time aggregation for several long-memory characteristics (fGn and FARIMA). We present the selection of the optimal values of the low and high-ends in the linear fit for three implementations of the R/S statistic. The study of these brain computer interfaces is not new, has around 2 decades of investigation. For the implementation of these systems is basically needed 3 stages: An EEG signals acquisition, a signal processing stage, so that it is finally possible to extract specific signal features, according to certain stimuli and finally, features are translated into commands that operate a device like the movement of wheelchairs, prosthesis of amputated members, movement of images or even selection of letters to form words in screen.
