The proposed method is based on a graph-based circuit description called Galois-field Arithmetic Circuit Graph (GF-ACG). First, we extend GF-ACG to describe GFs represented by normal basis in addition to polynomial basis. We then apply the extended design method to Massey-Omura parallel multipliers which are well known as typical multipliers based on normal basis. We present the formal description in a hierarchical manner and show that the verification time is greatly reduced as compared with that of the conventional simulation technique. In addition, we design GF exponentiation circuits consisting of the Massey-Omura parallel multipliers and evaluate the performance in comparison with that of polynomial-basis multipliers.","PeriodicalId":124947,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 43rd International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127361696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed functions are intended for use as reference benchmarks for automated synthesis algorithms of multiple-valued circuits. In the MV domain, functions can be represented using fixed radices (e.g. ternary, quaternary, etc) or using mixed radices (hybrid functions). Since such functions are harder to represent with the existing PLA specification, in this paper, we introduce the eXtensible Quantum Specification (XQS) file format which is based on the well-known YAML file specification.","PeriodicalId":124947,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 43rd International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126589649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ternary logic constants are modeled as vectors, thus the transfer functions are of the form of matrices that map vectors representing logic network input values to corresponding output vectors. Techniques for determination of the transfer matrix from a logic switching model or directly from a netlist are provided. The use of transfer matrices for logic network simulation are then developed that allow for multiple output responses to be obtained through a single vector-matrix product calculation.","PeriodicalId":124947,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 43rd International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124379783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing methods of reversible logic synthesis attempt to minimize gate count, quantum cost, garbage count and try to achieve scalability for large Boolean functions. Several notable heuristics for reversible logic synthesis employ a method based on repeated transformation, demonstrating excellent performance compared to available optimal results. In this paper, we suggest two novel techniques to the transformation-based synthesis flow for improving synthesis outcome. The first technique is based on properties of Boolean functions and the second technique incorporates generalized Fredkin gates during synthesis flow. We present theoretical results and experimental evidence in support of our strategies.","PeriodicalId":124947,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 43rd International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122644261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We selected for this paper the problem of rectangle-free colorings using four colors which could not be solved so far for the grids of the sizes 12 × 21 and 21 × 12. This problem depends on 12*21 = 252 four-valued variables. It is the last of so far unsolved rectangle-free grid problems for four colors. This paper aims at the solution of a multi-valued problem with an exceptionally high complexity. The search space for this finite problem is 4252 which is approximately 5.2 * 10151. A similar coloring problem was solved for the grid of the size 18 × 18 that relies on the extreme search space of approximately 1.1 * 10195. The construction of a cyclically reusable solution for a single color simplifies this search space approximately to 3.4 * 1097. Unfortunately, such a restriction to a single color is not possible in the case of a grid of the size 12 × 21. Hence, the complexity which must be handled in maintainable time grows additionally by a factor of more than 1054. Based on a very deep analysis of the properties of the problem we have constructed a strongly restricted SAT-model. This final model depends on 504 Boolean variables and 85.344 clauses. Using this SAT-instance we could calculate not only one solution but 38, 926 representatives of different permutation classes of four-colored rectangle-free grids of the size 12 × 21.","PeriodicalId":124947,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 43rd International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131627920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since first physical realizations of reversible circuits have already been presented in the past, how to efficiently test such circuits became a current research topic. Consequently, several approaches for Automatic Test Pattern Generation (ATPG) have been presented in the past. However, the order in which the respective faults are targeted has a significant effect on the resulting test size. While determining good fault orderings has intensely been considered for the test of conventional circuits, according strategies for reversible circuits have not been evaluated yet. This is done in this paper. To this end, a fault ordering scheme is presented that explicitly exploits the reversibility of the underlying circuits. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme leads to improvements of up to 65% in the size of the testset.","PeriodicalId":124947,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 43rd International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic","volume":"13 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114032932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
