To facilitate the discovery, matchmaking and networking among the co-workers across the enterprises social recommendation systems are often used. Off-the-shelf nature of these components often makes it hard for individuals to control their exposure as well as their preferences of whom to connect to. To this end, trust based recommenders have been amongst the most popular and demanding solutions due to their advantage of using social trust to generate more accurate suggestions for peers to connect to. They also allow individuals to control their exposure based on explicit trust levels. In this work we have proposed for an enterprise trust-based recommendation system with privacy controls. To generate accurate predictions, a local trust metric is defined between users based on correlations of user's profiled content such as blogging, articles wrote, comments, and likes along with profile information such as organization, region, interests or skills. Privacy metric is defined in such a way that users have full freedom either to hide their data from the recommender or customize their profiles to make them visible only to users with defined level of trustworthy.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132256947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, I analyze the market where various kinds of investors, including fundamentalists and investors who employ a passive investment strategy (which is one of the most popular investment strategies in the asset management business), are present. As a result of intensive experimentation, it was concluded that noise traders, such as investors who evaluate stock prices based on trends, averages, and latest prices, could contribute to the survival of fundamentalists and help to maintain market stability. These results are of both academic interest and practical use.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129816155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These systems become huge in term of number of devices and imply high heterogeneity (e.g., Of devices, of networks). They are continuously evolving with appearing and disappearing devices at runtime. The inner complexity of these systems, called multiscale systems, requires autonomic deployment middleware. Such middleware should deploy components where and when necessary, and adapt the architecture of the deployed systems considering the different scales of the systems. In this paper, we define MuScADeL, a domain-specific language (DSL) dedicated to multiscale and autonomic software deployment. MuScADeL allows designers to abstractly define deployment properties without exact knowledge of the devices and networks the system will be deployed on. This DSL is based on a scale-awareness framework, which helps designers to characterize the multiscale nature of a system from several viewpoints such as device, network, administration and geography. With MuScADeL, deployment designers may express multiscale properties of systems to deploy. MuScADeL is a building block for deployment middleware that targets multiscale distributed systems. We illustrate the possibilities of MuScADeL through a smart transport scenario.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133463427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When designing software for special needs users, the consideration of Human Factors is of vital importance. Such is the case with persons with Autism. Persons with some form of autism spectrum disorder face a myriad of impairments in different aspects of life, such as communication and social interactions, making each case unique, requiring different types of therapy. Designing special software for them can have its own challenges since each autistic person has distinct characteristics depending on the level of severity of autism. Using adaptive interfaces can be beneficial in this case by adapting the interface to the user's unique characteristics. But first we must establish what characteristics we can measure and what are the effects of these characteristics have on the interaction. By modelling the user, we can determine the impact of the user's characteristics on the interaction and design of the user interface and software. In this article, we present a doctoral thesis proposal of the development of an autistic user model to be used for adaptive interfaces and as a guide for interface design.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114147376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, many NoSQL systems (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, HBASE) have been born for coping the scalability issues of current analysis approaches. They all are based on different data models and present different performances based on structure, size and location of data distributed on clusters. While the research community is really active in the development of techniques for big data analysis, at current stage a comprehensive solution that supports the user in loading data from heterogeneous sources and in integrating them into the most suitable NoSQL system is still lacking. In this paper we propose the design and expected functionalities of Big Loader, a user-friendly loading system for NoSQL systems that allows the specification of the conceptual schema of the data to be loaded, the specification of the sources from which the data should be gathered in order to feed the conceptual schema and finally we outline intelligent strategies for the selection of the NoSQL system where the conceptual scheme can be deployed.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129320628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But it is a big challenge in the case of the rural women in urban China, considering their low income, unstable residence and employment, level of knowledge and awareness of maternal health-care. In this paper, a role-based e-health system with knowledge management and m-health technology is proposed and implemented. The roles in the system include the patients, the specialists in maternal-fetal medicine, the maternal health-care providers (e.g., General practitioners) and the data center service provider. The system is used by approximately 100 rural-to-urban pregnant women in Fengtai District, Beijing, and the experience shows the feasibility of an early-step use of knowledge management and m-health technology in high-risk pregnancy care efforts.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122182047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EISS collects mass event data from several non-uniform event website APIs and data sources. The Collected event data is visualized by some user-friendly user interfaces for consumer. EISS can summarize the event data in locational info and temporal info automatically and visualizes them to consumer on online maps. The Event Info is not showed to the consumer by a single list any longer. The consumer will experience the Event Info that is shown by locational online maps. Consumers also can set the query conditions or categories of events to filter out the events info that they need. We also designed and implemented a machine-learning algorithm to estimate the categories of event. EISS results in F1-Score to 0.47 by simple feature. We mentioned that some features are strong and positive correlate with categories expressly.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126137470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some kinds of the bots acquire accounts of web services in order to use the accounts for SPAM mails, phishing, etc. CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart) is one of the countermeasures for preventing bots from acquiring the accounts. Text-based CAPTCHA is especially implemented on almost all famous web services. However, CAPTCHA faces a problem that evolution of algorithms for analysis of printed characters disarms text-based CAPTCHA. Of course, stronger distortion of characters is the easiest solution of the problem. However, it makes recognition of characters difficult not only for bots but also for human beings. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new CAPTCHA with higher safety and convenience. Especially, we focus on the human abilities of phonemic restoration and recognition of similar sounds, and adopt the abilities in the propose CAPTCHA. The proposed CAPTCHA makes machinery presumption difficult for bots, while providing easy recognition for human beings.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124945759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The recently developed body sensor networks (BSN) have been confirmed to be a low cost and efficient way for elderly health monitoring. In this paper, we mainly introduced the design of a heterogeneous ZigBee based multi-hop health monitoring system which consisted data Collecting Node (CN), data Relaying Nodes (RNs), and Health Monitoring Nodes (HMNs). The CN and the RNs have prefixed position and they composed the main traffic routes for data transmission. The HMNs are placed on human body to sample the physiological signals of the people while the people can move freely in the floor of the building. In addition, the CN and the RNs have comparatively high radio transmission power to guarantee the network connectivity and coverage while the HMNs are always working with low radio transmission power to reduce energy consumption and to extend the life of the nodes. In addition, the designed health monitoring system were tested in the 11st floor of our laboratory (Area: 26.4m 52.8m), and the experiments results show that the network throughput is as high as 70.56 kbytes/s, the bit error ratio (BER) is lower than 0.03% and the packet loss ratio (PLR) is lower than 0.4%.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129218096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
