We present a new deployment and configuration management framework for network functions, called toy block networking. In our framework, an operator can describe its network-wide deployment plan of various network functions by using a unified abstraction representing essential features of composition of network functions, without including the detail of the functions and specific configuration interfaces. This abstraction is based on a network-wide configuration graph that captures the relationships between various network functions, and thus network-wide consistency of their configurations is systematically validated by the framework. Our framework enables the network operator, like building toy blocks into a structure, to compose various network functions from different vendors into a unified network service plan, and deploy them in an operational network.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132635037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system employs Web intelligence to perform these automatic adaptations on single elements composing a Web page. In particular, a reinforcement learning algorithm, i.e. Q-learning, based on the idea of reward/punishment is utilized as the machine learning system that manages the user profile. Based on it, the user profile is updated, so that automatic adaptations can be effectively performed while surfing the Web. We created a simulation scenario to test our approach over different users with specific preferences and/or different kinds of disabilities. Simulation results confirm the viability of the proposal.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132023519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous works seek for distortion optimization through joint adaptation of video layers and unequal error protection(UEP) at the application layer. However, such optimization usually incurs high computational cost and is hard to accurately estimate perceptual quality. In this paper, we propose an application-layer profile-based adaptation framework. We first propose a profile-based distortion model, which specifies a spectrum of target perceptual qualities along with their protection requirements. During transmission, we then employ a simple interleaved MD-FEC adaptation algorithm which finds the best target quality of which required protection can be supported subject to the current available bandwidth and loss condition. Through simulation, we confirm that our scheme can agilely perform the adaptation for scalable videos with profile specific perceptual quality guarantee even in highly loss-burst channels, compared with the ones applying fixed-UEP/interleaving or no protection.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133929879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, spread of illegally copied software is getting serious. Conventional approaches have drawbacks that they hamper the convenience of legitimate users. In this study, we bring up another idea \"identifying the person who illegally distributed a fraud software code\" so as not to limit the rights of innocent users, by embedding digital fingerprinting. In our digital fingerprinting scheme, code blocks of the target execution code are fragmented and reordered at random. Fingerprint is embedded as the control for execution of the fragmented code blocks in the original order. Dummy codes are inserted so that attackers would have difficulty in tracking the original execution flow and removing the fingerprint. A preliminary evaluation shows that of a fingerprinted code based on our scheme has enough robustness against existing obfuscator and our system works enough efficiently in execution time.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116926119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The framework relies on the OASIS standard Service Component Architecture (SCA) for service-oriented architecture modeling, and on SCA component implementation types, such as SCA-Java, for providing an implementation-oriented approach to design pattern definition and application. Moreover, in order to provide formally verified design patterns, a specification-oriented approach is also supported by using the formal method Abstract State Machines and associated analysis tools for describing and validating the functional behavior of design patterns and SCA components.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116861245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each IC, a smart sensor with a one-way outgoing communication over the network, monitors in real-time the status of one or more physical processes and raises an alarm when the monitored process measurements violate predefined constraints. ICs are structurally and behaviorally independent of the cyber-portion of a Cyber Physical System (CPS) and hence are much less likely to be affected by cyber attacks than the control system that monitors and controls a CPS. Thus, ICs serve as devices orthogonal to an existing intrusion detection system and assist in the early detection of successful attacks through independent monitoring of physical processes.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"174 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116344401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The essential idea of Dynamic Random Testing is to update the testing profile dynamically during the software testing according to test data collected online. As a result, the sub domains which have higher defect detection rate are selected more easily. There are some shortcomings in the original DRT, such as it is not rigorous to update the testing profile each time merely according to whether a test case reveals defects or not. In order to overcome the shortcomings in the original DRT, a History-based Dynamic Random Testing is proposed on the basis of DRT and it is denoted as DRT-h. In DRT-h strategy, the estimate of the defect detection rate of each sub domain is calculated in real-time during the software testing by using history testing information. In this paper some real-life software were used to verify the effect of DRT and DRT-h, and the experiments show that DRT-h outperforms random testing, random-partition testing and Dynamic Random Testing greatly.","PeriodicalId":123335,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 38th International Computer Software and Applications Conference Workshops","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115226679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the proposed evidence preservation methods, the hysteresis signature scheme, reflects previously summarized data with a new digital signature of the log data.
