This circuit includes two cells which are interconnected by means of dynamical synapses (excitatory and inhibitory). On the individual level, each neuron is modelled by FitzHugh-Nagumo equations. To analyze complex patterns and transitions between them in this small circuit, we apply wavelet analysis. We show that this tool could be applicable to systems that are difficult to investigate using methods of classical bifurcation analysis.","PeriodicalId":122969,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Intelligent Informatics and Biomedical Sciences (ICIIBMS)","volume":"187 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124143523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Video captioning is especially gaining a lot of attention from both computer vision and natural language processing fields. Generating captions is usually performed by jointly learning of different types of data modalities that share common themes in the video. Learning with the joining representations of different modalities is very challenging due to the inherent heterogeneity resided in the mixed information of visual scenes, speech dialogs, music and sounds, and etc. Consequently, it is hard to evaluate the quality of video captioning results. In this paper, we introduce well-known metrics and datasets for evaluation of video captioning. We compare the the existing metrics and datasets to derive a new research proposal for the evaluation of video descriptions.","PeriodicalId":122969,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Intelligent Informatics and Biomedical Sciences (ICIIBMS)","volume":"1228 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127435554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, pushbutton signal machines are often installed in inconvenient locations. Therefore, a new method is required to allow pedestrians to switch the traffic signals using a crossing request other than a pushbutton. In this research, we paid attention to the motions of the pedestrians with a crossing request, who tend to “stay and watch the traffic signal in front of the crosswalk.” Pedestrian images were captured using a camera built into the traffic signals and analyzed using image processing. A new traffic signal system is proposed that uses the motions of a pedestrian with a crossing request as an input signal.","PeriodicalId":122969,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Intelligent Informatics and Biomedical Sciences (ICIIBMS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130628133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The PAM algorithm is more efficient than K-Mean since medoids assess a minimum distance from the other objects. In this study, we have integrated the Mahalanobis distance with PAM algorithm, since Mahalanobis distance has been defined in cluster analysis for different applications and is used to overcome the problem of scaling and correlation with Euclidean distance. However, the performance of PAM algorithm based on Mahalanobis distance was found to be inadequate when employed on selected microarray expression datasets, which were pre-processed prior to the analyses. We proposed an enhanced PAM algorithm based on the weighted and normalized Mahalanobis distance, and the results obtained using our proposed algorithm reveal an ultimate cluster solution for selected microarray datasets. The algorithms were evaluated using the Dunn's validity index.","PeriodicalId":122969,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Intelligent Informatics and Biomedical Sciences (ICIIBMS)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128473663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The change in the electric potential of the human body that is caused by the daily performance induces an electrostatic induction current in the electrode placed at a distance of a few meters from the human body. Using this technology, I have developed an effective non-contact technique for the detection of human daily performance by detecting the change in this human-generated body charge. This technique based on the detection of an electrostatic induction current of the order of approximately sub-picoamperes flowing through an electrode that is placed at a distance of 5 m from the subject. It is shown that the characteristics of the individual are included in walking motion, sitting on a chair and retiring motion. This technique effectively explains the behavior of the waveform of the electrostatic induction current flowing through a given measurement electrode through a capacitance model of the human body.","PeriodicalId":122969,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Intelligent Informatics and Biomedical Sciences (ICIIBMS)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124111528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A deep convolutional neural network is adopted for the object recognition, and the posture of the prosthetic hand is controlled based on the recognition result of the object. To verify the validity of the proposed control method, the experiment was executed with 25 target objects. 3000 images for each target object were collected during the approach phase of hand motion to the object. High recognition performance was confirmed with an accuracy over 80%, although the misclassification was observed at the early phase of the approach motion. These results revealed that the proposed method has high potential to control various motions of the prosthetic hand.","PeriodicalId":122969,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Intelligent Informatics and Biomedical Sciences (ICIIBMS)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115458361","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
