One solver computes resonant fields in loss-free structures, the other computes time dependent fields, scattering parameters and wake potentials in lossy or loss-free structures. The program uses linked lists instead of three dimensional arrays to model the computational volume. The main advantage of this approach is: Grid cells are only needed in regions, which are not filed with electric or magnetic conducting materials. This may result in an appreciable reduction of memory and CPU usage. The modeling via the linked lists is described in detail and some examples of calculated realistic geometries are given.","PeriodicalId":122662,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 1997 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. Temperature tuning of the RF cavities, based on an analytical prediction algorithm, allows longitudinal stable operating conditions to be obtained. However, once longitudinal stability has been achieved transverse instabilities can be observed, particularly during the energy ramp from 1.0 to 2.0 GeV. There has therefore been the need to extend the flexibility of the mode shifting technique. This has been achieved by the installation of adjustable HOMFS on the storage ring RF cavities. The HOMFS is effective on those longitudinal and transverse cavity Higher Order Modes which are unstable over a wide temperature range, by shifting them out of the operating temperature interval of the cavity. The installation of the HOMFS has improved the reliability and reproducibility of machine operation, also in view of the beam current upgrade.","PeriodicalId":122662,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 1997 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. The accelerator will consist of 64 induction cells powered by 32 H.V. generators operated at 250 kV. The final 20 MeV electron beam will be focused on a target designed for X-ray conversion. At CESTA, PIVAIR is a testbed designed as a validation step of AIRIX up to 8 MeV. The injector has been connected with 16 accelerating cells, increasing electron beam energy to 7.2 MeV. Two kinds of induction cells have been developed and tested. A focusing experiment is planned for electron beam spot diameter measurements. After this step, beam focusing on a target will be experimented for X-ray source characterization.","PeriodicalId":122662,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 1997 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. These beams will be used to test some of the LHC detectors components (ALICE, ATLAS, CMS, LHC-B). In addition another recently approved experiment (DIRAC) will be installed in the PS East Area. This experiment will require a primary proton beam of 24 GeV/c to test QCD predictions. In this context, the EHNL project (East Hall New Look) has been launched. The major modifications include (i) an extension of the present area with a primary 24 GeV/c beam line, (ii) a new secondary beam line layout with test areas at 3.5, 7, 10 and 15 GeV/c, (iii) an additional irradiation area, (iv) an improved facility for beam sharing between the various users. This paper describes the scope of the project, its new features, the planned facilities and its installation schedule.","PeriodicalId":122662,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 1997 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat.
