Over the next four years, they succeeded in capturing important cities in Asia Minor and al-Shām (Greater Syria), such as Nicaea, Edessa, Antioch and Jerusalem. The strength of the crusading forces was actually not greater than that of the Muslims and they were also not advanced in term of culture and science vis-a-vis the Muslims. In hindsight, this shows that there were other reasons that caused the defeat of the Muslims during the First Crusade. This study uses historical analysis as its methodology to see the correlation between the defeat of the Muslims and the political division that was prevailing among them during the First Crusade. This study suggests that there is a strong correlation between disunity and the defeat of the Muslims during the First Crusade.","PeriodicalId":121146,"journal":{"name":"UMRAN - International Journal of Islamic and Civilizational Studies","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128751095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Marriage expenditure in Malay community is for various purpose such as feast, ceremony, decorations, wedding gift, door gifts, photography session and so on. The expenditures on these elements are typically spent without considering the priority of the wedding. This article will explain the elements of marriage expenditure be it from the Shariah perspective and cultural or current trend of wedding celebration. This article will also discuss the priority of expenditure according to fiqh of consumerism and further analyse the priority of marriage expenditure based on the concept of marriage in Islam. Through a qualitative approach, this study will compile and analyse data through content analysis methods and the data will be obtained through documentation of scientific material in the field of fiqh of consumerism, fiqh of family and Malay cultural practices of marriage. This study finds that priority in expenditure should either be based on marriage obligation classified as hajiyyat or tahsiniyyat or the purpose of expenditure. These two prioritizing elements should be emphasized for every future bride and groom in ensuring better management of marriage expenditure according to the Islamic law based on fiqh of consumerism.","PeriodicalId":121146,"journal":{"name":"UMRAN - International Journal of Islamic and Civilizational Studies","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115885978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, when questions such as \"do children get the education they deserve?\", \"does a family get the right health services?\" and \"does the community receive the clean water and electricity supply it needs?\" cannot be answered well, then it is a sign that poverty still exists from a multidimensional view. This study applies library methods, textual and contextual analysis methods by taking into the five elements of Shariah Maqasid in the context of multidimensional poverty and extracted based on inductive, deductive, and comparative methods. The results of the study show that multidimensional poverty has a direct relationship to Maqasid Syariah. All dimensions of multidimensional poverty such as education, health, and living standards have their importance in preserving the five elements of Maqasid Syariah, namely religion, intellect, soul, lineage, and property. In the education aspect, achievement in this aspect must take into account both types of educational streams, namely fardu ain and fardu kifayah. In the health aspect, emphasis is given to the prevention of disease as well as a balanced diet by taking into the source of treatment and halal supply for both. While in the aspect of living standards, the accumulation of wealth serves as a pillar to build a more prosperous life, providing benefits to human beings, rewards, and favors given by Allah SWT to his servants and is a test in human life. This study is seen to contribute to improving the shortcomings that exist in the existing multidimensional poverty measurement through the application of poverty measurement elements based on the perspective of Maqasid Syariah as an added value in creating a comprehensive multidimensional poverty measurement as discussed by Islam.","PeriodicalId":121146,"journal":{"name":"UMRAN - International Journal of Islamic and Civilizational Studies","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125668963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A qualitative study through semi-structured interview with six participants selected from private islamic secondary schools. The findings showed that parents, teachers and the participants themselves influenced student motivation in the memorization of the Quran. The role of parental guidance and advice were the most influential factors leading to motivation among students in memorization of the Quran. Implications of this study, the students themselves and teachers were also sources of motivation to memorize. At the same time, teachers should always assist and help students in their memorization of the Quran. That way, students will feel more confident to continue their memorization. Therefore, this study can be helpful as a reference in lowering the gap on motivation in Quranic memorization. Hence, the researchers believe that this study will be much help for the other researchers to continue and elaborate more on the field of Quranic memorization concerning motivation.","PeriodicalId":121146,"journal":{"name":"UMRAN - International Journal of Islamic and Civilizational Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128853674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study examines factors that might influence muzakki level of intention to use E-Zakat based upon the theoretical framework of the technology acceptance model, the theory of planned behaviour and the concept of health risk. According to the survey, which was conducted on 401 individual muzakki in Malaysia, respondents have a high level of intention to use E-Zakat during the pandemic COVID-19 (3.20 out of 4). Empirical findings show that perceived usefulness, perceived subjective norms, perception of behavioral control and health risk are positively associated, but perceived ease of use is not significantly associated with muzakki intention to use E-Zakat during pandemic Covid-19. Based on the current pandemic, COVID-19, the findings may help zakat institutions as well as other Islamic economic institutions by providing input onbehaviouralt of health risk factors on the use of e-services and actions that can be taken by zakat institutions to face risk challenges in e-services, especially E-Zakat.","PeriodicalId":121146,"journal":{"name":"UMRAN - International Journal of Islamic and Civilizational Studies","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121223738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, Muslim society contribution to Scientific knowledge declines after the 16th century. Many scholars had discussed the factors of why Muslim contribution toward science declined, but discussion on how Muslim society could regain the \"scientific glory\" were very few. This paper intends to describe plausible future of Muslim society returning to high scientific literacy in that context. The plausibility future in this term refers to a possible future if a certain possible “occurable” scenarios are met in present-day Muslim society. The possible “occurable” present-day scenarios are based on historical factors of declining Muslim scientific contribution. Plausible challenges to the plausible future are also discussed in this paper. Plausible challenges in this context are plausible causes that cause the decline of the Muslim scientist in the past but in a future setting. In conclusion, this paper discussed the plausible way for Muslims to become a scientific society as well as becoming an example of how plausibility can be utilized in constructing a future scenario planning.","PeriodicalId":121146,"journal":{"name":"UMRAN - International Journal of Islamic and Civilizational Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129585014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
