A critical section is a non empty set of tasks that cannot serve more than one activity at a time. Case-based reasoning (CBR) has been used in various e-commerce applications for product recommendations. The appropriateness of the use of CBR in e-commerce applications is enhanced by introducing context-sensitive information related to e-commerce as cases in CBR. Usage of context leads to providing the right level of information to users in assisting them to take right decisions quickly. In this paper, we have proposed a context enabled multi-CBR approach comprising of two CBRs (user context CBR and product context CBR) to aid the recommendation engine (RE) in retrieving appropriate information for e-commerce applications. The RE further derives personalized negotiation and presentation strategies based on contextual information and ontology","PeriodicalId":118472,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'05)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132562819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The operation mode results in disadvantages of hindering saving of cost and improvement of efficiency. Being one of the key contents in vendor managed inventory, inventory routing problem will help supplier to lower operation cost, improve efficiency and increase satisfaction of customers. In the paper, a heuristic algorithm is designed to solve stochastic inventory routing problem. In the algorithm, followed by converting stochastic demands of customers to regular demands, distribution period of every customer is calculated by the modified EOQ. To address this problem, a trust model is proposed in this paper. Since uncertainty is the nature of trust, it is necessary for us to take uncertainty into account during modeling trust. Distinguished from other trust models, a novel approach is employed to describe uncertainty in the proposed trust model, namely the cloud-model. Since the cloud-model is quite new and still in the progress of development, it can not be applied into modeling trust directly, hence we have to extend it firstly. Then we present an extended-cloud-model-based trust model (abbreviated as ECM-based trust model or ECMBTM). To prove the advantage of the proposed trust model, simulation experiments are carried out, and the ECMBTM is compared quantificationally with three typical trust models. Furthermore, we develop a trust evaluation system based on the ECMBTM and are applying it in a real B2B system","PeriodicalId":118472,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'05)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129455219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even though today's e-commerce environments have drastically evolved and now incorporate techniques from other domains and application areas such as Web mining, semantics, artificial intelligence, user modeling and profiling, etc. setting up a successful recommendation system is not a trivial or straightforward task. This paper argues that by monitoring, analyzing and understanding the behavior of customers, their demographics, opinions, preferences and history, as well as taking into consideration the specific e-shop ontology and by applying Web mining techniques, the effectiveness of produced recommendations can be significantly improved. In this way, the e-shop may upgrade users' interaction, increase its usability, convert users to buyers, retain current customers and establish long-term and loyal one-to-one relationships","PeriodicalId":118472,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'05)","volume":"41 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128483249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The low-cost tag, or so-called passive tag, will be likely the factor for widespread adoption of the technology. It must be noticed that the deployment of such tags may create new threats to user privacy due to the powerful tracking capability of the tags. As a result, some sort of security issues must be imposed on the passive tags for addressing the privacy problem. However, providing security in such tags is a challenging task because they are highly resource constrained and cannot support strong cryptography. This paper provides both discussion on the requirements and restrictions of security implementation of a RFID system. It also examines the features and issues pertinent to several existing RFID security solution. Often in the information technology implementation environment, dynamic events are generated to indicate the states of the business processes. These isolated and heterogeneous low-level events create needs for adaptation and standardization, before the events can be handled by a central mediation engine, which fillers, sorts and correlates events into key performance indicators relating to business goals. In this paper, we propose an intelligent event adaptation mechanism for capturing, analyzing, enriching and transforming application-dependent IT-level events into a standard event format called the common base event. The resulting event adapter can capture and process low-level events and forward only business related events to the central mediation engine. We select the SAP system as a reference application, and illustrate the configuration issues between the application and its adapter. The architecture and functionality of the proposed event adaptation mechanism are explained with practical industry problems and scenarios","PeriodicalId":118472,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'05)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123013760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The GridPML is an XML-based language that supports basic control flow constructs adopted from Web service composition languages with features for invoking grid services. The GridPML defines an approach to grid service lifecycle management that creates service instances as needed at run time. The GridPML also supports the use of process parameters, complex type variable assignment from different grid services, and collection type indexing. A process execution history containing the execution context is created and maintained by the GridPML execution engine, forming the basis of future research for analyzing the semantic correctness of concurrent process execution.
