Different simulations are made to investigate the robustness of speed estimation and control of rotor speed by imposing sudden variations in speed reference and load nature. The obtained results show the efficiency and the robustness of both developed MRAS speed observer and Fuzzy Logic controller against the introduced perturbations.","PeriodicalId":117908,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Engineering & MIS (ICEMIS)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133738229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In practice, each task takes a very brief amount of time, so it seems as if all the tasks are executing in parallel and simultaneously. In the case of excessive complexity applications, which usually run in hard real time constraints, the use of a real time operating system (RTOS) is strongly required. In this paper, a tiny and reliable RTOS was implemented for PIC18F family of microcontroller. This operating system, which is called SmallRTOS, is based on Round-Robin scheduler. The used system tick is based on a variable time-sliced scheduling that has a direct effect on CPU load, context switching and process waiting time.","PeriodicalId":117908,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Engineering & MIS (ICEMIS)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133285420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The classical RAS has been found to be over-activated during the adipose tissue enlargement, thus elevated Generation of Angiotensin II (Ang II) may contribute to the obesity pathogenesis. Obesity rates continue to increase worldwide. The question arises whether obesity is truly perceived as a risk factor and a disease. Then, the association between angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) gene I/D polymorphism and the risk of overweight/obesity remains controversial. We investigated the possible relationship between ACE gene I/D polymorphism and obesity in Tunisian type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. In this study, obesity was defined as a body mass index (BMI) value ≥ 25 kg/m2 and subjects were classified into 4 groups (lean, normal, overweight, and obese). ACE genotyping was determined by PCR. Finding of 47.9% of hypertensives among the subjects having DD genotype and BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2 is consistent with an additive effect of DD genotype and obesity. In conclusion, the present study implies that genotyping of the ACE gene I/D polymorphism could in the future become an important part of the clinical process of risk identification for T2DM in Tunisian population.","PeriodicalId":117908,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Engineering & MIS (ICEMIS)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133309476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed filter is working in UWB frequency and is constructed by three cavities. Two adjacent cavities connected with an iris located in the middle of the structure. While the third cavity is glued above as a superposed layer. In order to transfer the energy to the upper cavity, two symmetrical slots are etched in the top metal of the lower layer cavities. The simulation and performance evaluation have been performed by using the full-wave electromagnetic 3D simulator Ansys HFSS. In the same time, the proposed filter maintains low insertion loss approaching 0 dB as well as good matching since the return loss noted is under 15 dB over the pass band. Moreover, a generated transmission zero located under −15 dB close to the pass band with steep cut-off frequency response. Thus, to guarantee higher selectivity. Furthermore, the compact size of this filter make it suitable for easy integration in systems on chip for microwave circuits.","PeriodicalId":117908,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Engineering & MIS (ICEMIS)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125109501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the integration of renewable intermittent sources and the adoption of demand response strategies, an accurate short-term prediction becomes mandatory. Modern forecast approaches do not merely estimate future values, but provide also confidence intervals with different widths and probabilities. Therefore, this paper proposes a probabilistic day-ahead load forecast approach based on quantile regression forests. Quantile regression forests are extensions to random forests that provide confidence intervals instead of single points. The forecaster inputs are chosen according to measures of correlation and importance, profile analysis and wavelet decomposition of load curves. Several tests are performed using real data sets from the Ontario market. The results reflect the accuracy and the effectiveness of the proposed model under different circumstances.","PeriodicalId":117908,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Engineering & MIS (ICEMIS)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123896272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This novel transmission technique incorporates the index of active subcarriers to convey additional information. Similar to conventional OFDM, channel estimation error is considered as a dominant performance degrading cause of OFDM-IM system. This paper deals with robust OFDM-IM system implementation under practical conditions. For this purpose, Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based OFDM-IM is announced to improve the performance of the conventional OFDM-IM affected by non ideal channel estimation. To this purpose, DWT based OFDM-IM performance in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) is compared to the original OFDM-IM based on Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) in the presence of channel estimation error. Simulation results are provided to prove the performance enhancement of our proposed system over Rayleigh fading channel.","PeriodicalId":117908,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Engineering & MIS (ICEMIS)","volume":"26 10","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120968097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
